Not far away, Ye Ming watched the entire scene with amusement and quickly caught up with Wu Rong, wondering if there would be more entertaining drama to come. Perhaps his good buddy was about to have an epiphany and would directly stage a play to win over his beloved.
"Senior, I think I won't go. What if Professor Wu leaves later..." Rao Jie hesitated and declined.
Long Yong smiled gently and said, "Just for a moment. It's rare to be here; wouldn't it be a pity not to take a look? I just passed by, and it was really impressive. We'll be back soon."
"But..." Rao Jie still felt uneasy and turned her gaze toward Wu Rong.
Long Yong followed her line of sight, and his smile suddenly stiffened.
He Dong looked at his old buddy sympathetically and chimed in, "Oh, Professor Wu will be there for a while longer. He's currently being introduced to a blind date, so he won't leave so soon."
Rao Jie was taken aback, her eyes wide with shock. "What? A blind date?"
He Dong nodded and chuckled, "Look at the lady standing next to him."
Rao Jie couldn't believe that Professor Wu had come here for a blind date. Wasn't he always against such things? He even went out of his way to hide from his parents so they wouldn't know where he was. Why was he complying today?
Rao Jie felt puzzled.
He Dong continued to assist, "So don't worry; there's still time. I'll keep an eye on things here and let you know if anything happens."
As he spoke, he shot Long Yong a knowing glance while nudging Rao Jie forward.
Rao Jie stumbled slightly as she was pushed, but Long Yong reached out just in time to steady her arm. This time, he didn't let go but instead guided her forward.
"We'll be back soon; just follow me!" Long Yong said softly.
Unable to refuse Long Yong's enthusiasm, Rao Jie had no choice but to follow him away.
In truth, Long Yong wanted to take her out to the extended platform outside the building to enjoy the night view of Shencheng. They were on a high floor, and as soon as they stepped outside, the strong wind on the platform startled Rao Jie.
Long Yong took a couple of steps to change angles, trying his best to shield Rao Jie from the gusts of wind. He led her to the outermost edge where the view was best.
At that moment, there were quite a few people on the platform, mostly young people who had come out for some fresh air after tiring themselves out socializing with the professors and mathematicians inside.
Leaning against the wall, watching the scenery above or below, one can easily get lost in the mesmerizing play of light and shadow. The stars in the sky and the neon lights on the ground create a beautiful oil painting, captivating anyone who gazes upon it. As one watches, it feels almost hypnotic, as if something within awakens, bringing a sense of clarity.
"How is it? Beautiful, right?" Long Yong stood beside Rao Jie, smiling gently. Rao Jie turned her head and nodded joyfully at Long Yong. She hadn't expected to see such a stunning view during this outing; it felt as if her heart had opened up, and all her worries had vanished. Perhaps it was the strong wind on the platform that gave her the illusion of soaring through the beautiful night sky.
"Thank you, senior. I didn't know such a night view could be seen here," Rao Jie expressed her gratitude, knowing that Long Yong thought of her when he saw something so wonderful. Long Yong smiled and said, "As long as you're happy." With that, he took off his suit jacket and draped it over Rao Jie. "Be careful not to catch a chill."
