In 2035, in an era of advanced technology, Li Ran was living in a cramped rental apartment, mechanically controlling game characters to earn a meager income as a game booster. 0

Today, Li Ran received a package containing his old belongings from high school: wristbands, picks, and even a few photos with friends. "It's been ten years; why would anyone still think of me?" Li Ran chuckled self-deprecatingly and tossed the package aside until he flipped it over to find a love letter with elegant handwriting. His breath caught—Sender: Wei Ziyang. 0

His thoughts were pulled back to ten years ago, during the summer of his sophomore year. A few of us, dressed in school uniforms and carrying guitars, were playing passionately on the school rooftop. Li Ran had long hair that brushed his ears and wore ripped jeans, lost in the music as he strummed his guitar. Wei Ziyang stood beside him in an oversized T-shirt, holding a bass, her face beaming with youthful joy. 0

"Ran Ge, this song is really good. Did you write it?" Zhao Kai asked excitedly as he set down his drumsticks. 0

"Yeah, I just wrote it; I haven't thought of a name yet," Li Ran replied casually while his gaze unconsciously drifted toward Wei Ziyang. 0

"Let's call it 'Reverse Scale'! What do you think?" Wei Ziyang suddenly suggested. 0

Li Ran paused for a moment before smiling and nodding, "Sure, let's call it 'Reverse Scale'!" We continued to immerse ourselves in the world of music until the sun set, reluctantly packing up our things. 0

"Li Ran, wait for me!" Wei Ziyang called out as she caught up to him and handed him a bottle of chilled soda. 0

"Thanks." Li Ran took the soda and eagerly opened it, taking several big gulps. 0

"Li Ran, which music academy do you want to apply to in the future?" Wei Ziyang suddenly asked with a hint of anticipation in her voice. 0

Li Ran fell silent for a moment, looking down as he quietly said, "I probably won't apply to a music academy." 0

Wei Ziyang was taken aback; she looked at him in disbelief. "Why not? You're so good at playing the guitar!" 0

"You know my family situation; my parents wouldn't agree to let me study music. They want me to get into a good university and find a stable job," Li Ran said with a bitter smile, his tone filled with helplessness. 0

"But..." Wei Ziyang wanted to say something more but was interrupted by Zhao Kai. 0

"Alright, enough! Li Ran's family situation isn't great; he has to be realistic—unlike you, who doesn't have to worry about anything," Zhao Kai said impatiently, his words laced with sarcasm. 0

Li Ran clenched his fists, suppressing the anger inside him without saying anything. 0

"Zhao Kai, what do you mean by that!" Wei Ziyang glared at Zhao Kai angrily and turned back to comfort Li Ran. "Li Ran, don't listen to him! I think your music is very talented; you should stick to your dreams!" 0

"Enough!" Li Ran suddenly shouted, slamming the soda bottle he was holding onto the ground. "My business is none of your concern!" 0

After saying that, Li Ran left the rooftop without looking back, leaving Wei Ziyang and Zhao Kai in stunned silence. 0

Li Ran returned to his rented apartment, opened his computer, and logged into the Game Boosting Platform. A high-paying bounty task prominently appeared on the page, targeting none other than Victor, the captain of the renowned esports team "Starlight" in the Metaverse. 0

As he looked at the familiar name on the screen, his gaze gradually sharpened. He knew this was an excellent opportunity, a chance to prove himself once again. 0

Li Ran took a deep breath, clicked to accept the task, and a confident smile crept onto his lips. 0
