That's right! On the first day of school in early September 1998, Lu Chenyu unexpectedly burst back into Lin Xi's life.
September 1, 1998, the sun was still blazing.
At a certain high school in the Provincial Capital, the campus was bustling with activity as the school welcomed a new batch of Sophomore students, while the returning students began a new semester.
The first class on the first day for Class 2 (5) was Chinese taught by their homeroom teacher, Mr. Li.
The homeroom teacher was a young male teacher with thick black glasses, of medium height and slightly slender build. He had just graduated from university less than two years ago and possessed the refined yet easygoing demeanor typical of a male student majoring in Chinese.
With ten minutes left until class started, he held a seating arrangement sheet in his hand, standing at the podium facing the classroom door, where several rows of students were crowded in the hallway outside.
"I have a seating arrangement here," the homeroom teacher said, raising the piece of white paper in his hand to the class. "It’s arranged based on your grades when you were assigned to classes. I will call out your names shortly. As I call your name, please come into the classroom one by one from the front row of Group One to your assigned seats."
The homeroom teacher began to call out names.

All the students entered the classroom in order according to the names called and took their seats accordingly.
Once everyone was seated, Lin Xi noticed that the seat next to her was empty.
The entire class immediately noticed the empty seat beside Lin Xi and began to chatter curiously.
"Teacher, why don't I have a desk mate?"
Lin Xi's seat was in the second row of Group Three, a very conspicuous spot, with one seat empty, which indeed drew attention. She blushed and stood up to ask the teacher.

The class had been rearranged, and someone else was already sitting in the seat he used to occupy. He was not fully prepared to adapt to the new class.
Suddenly, someone exaggeratedly laughed, "Haha," and called out, "So it's the Busy Doing Nothing hero who has arrived."
Instantly, the classroom erupted with mocking laughter.
Lin Xi's face turned even redder as she suddenly realized that the absent desk mate beside her was Chen Yang, the person who had once made her furious to the point of losing half her life.
Sure enough, the teacher pointed towards Lin Xi and said, "Your seat is over there; hurry back to your seat and don't be late for class in the future."
The teacher's voice was deep and magnetic, with a kind expression.

Immediately, the panic and awkwardness that had been on his face when he first entered the classroom disappeared. He swayed slightly and raised his hand. "Uh, this. My deskmate doesn't know me yet, so let me introduce myself. My name is Lu Chenyu. After finishing, he raised his eyebrows and shrugged his shoulders. "Hmm!"
"Lu Chenyu, go back to your seat," the teacher standing behind him suddenly scolded him lightly. He turned to the teacher and bowed. "Mr. Li, sorry!" Then he swayed his body as he walked back to his seat.
Lu Chenyu walked up beside Lin Xi and tapped on her desk.
His seat was inside, requiring Lin Xi to stand up and let him pass.
Lin Xi sat there motionless as if she hadn’t heard or seen him tapping on the desk.
