Everyone was looking at Lin Xi with strange expressions.
Although many classmates were not in the same class as Lin Xi before, and Mr. Li was also teaching Lin Xi for the first time, they had all heard of her. Her father was a renowned teacher, and she had a good upbringing. Not only was she beautiful and academically talented, but she was also very sensible and polite. The expressions of the classmates were filled with surprise, similar to Mr. Li's, but there was also a hint of schadenfreude mixed in. They were eager to see how Lu Chenyu would deal with someone as goddess-like as Lin Xi today. Or rather, how this goddess would handle such a troublemaker.

She couldn't really let him crawl over the desk, could she? What couldn't this person do? If she didn't give him a way through, he might actually do it.
Moreover, she had heard that Mr. Li was a very good teacher. He hadn't done anything to offend her, so she couldn't make him uncomfortable on his first day as a homeroom teacher.
After hesitating for a second, Lin Xi stood up and made way for Lu Chenyu.
She thought he would simply walk in and sit down quietly.
To her surprise, he strutted in like a leader inspecting his troops, wearing a smug smile as he waved at the students in the back row, clearly signaling that he had triumphed in front of the goddess!
The classroom immediately filled with whispers and giggles.
Without turning around, Lin Xi could almost see her classmates snickering quietly.
She felt even more frustrated; how she wished she could be someone who disregarded others' opinions and thoughts. Then she could slam her hands on the desk and yell at this shameless person.
But she couldn't.
So, after Lu Chenyu walked past her, she sat down dejectedly.
As soon as class was over, before the teacher had left the classroom, a group of classmates who knew Lu Chenyu rushed over to surround him, especially a few mischievous ones.
He stepped out from his seat but didn’t go far, leaning against Lin Xi's desk.
They wrapped their arms around his shoulders and looked at Lin Xi, who was sitting behind him, with mischievous smiles. "Alright, you little rascal." They playfully punched his chest a few times. "No big deal." Lu Chenyu replied coldly yet proudly, raising an eyebrow and glancing at Lin Xi. Just like that time before leaving the broadcasting room, he even gave Lin Xi a teasing look.
Lin Xi was reading a book and couldn’t bear to listen to them any longer.
She slammed the book down on the desk in frustration, pressed her hands tightly against the table, and stood up abruptly.
The sudden force caused the table to shake, startling Lu Chenyu, who was leaning against the edge of her desk.
He turned to look at her and flashed a brilliant smile, as if nothing unpleasant had ever happened between them.
"A girl should be a bit gentler, you know? Why make such a big fuss?" His gentle voice and warm smile resembled that of an elder patiently explaining things to a child who had made a mistake.
Lin Xi shot him an angry glare, pushed him aside with one hand, and stormed out in frustration.
Lin Xi, oh Lin Xi, you were clearly very angry and disliked people like him. But why did his smile shine into your heart like sunlight, warming it slightly? He was obviously a rogue, a troublemaker, yet why did his smile radiate like spring sunshine and shine brightly like autumn?
As Lin Xi walked quickly away, she shook her head.
She wanted to shake off these sudden thoughts that had popped into her mind and forget the piercing gazes and smug laughter behind her.
"You see, where are the ladies now? It's all just an act; such things never last. A fox will eventually reveal its tail." He pointed at Lin Xi's back, casually stuffing his hands into his shorts pockets, lazily leaning against the table with a nonchalant demeanor.
The troublemakers around him burst into laughter.
In the corridor outside the classroom, Lin Xi was playing with some other female classmates, who asked her with sympathetic tones.
"How are you? Are you okay? Don't stoop to their level," Yao Mengni deliberately called out loudly towards the classroom.
During their sophomore year, Mengni and Lin Xi were not in the same class; they met while working as partners at the broadcasting station. After getting to know each other, they hit it off well, so when it came time to choose between arts and sciences, they agreed to study humanities together. Coincidentally, they ended up in the same class after the division.
They had originally planned to sit together, but Mr. Li was different from previous homeroom teachers; he didn't allow students to choose their own desks and arranged them himself.
Mengni was already close to Lin Xi and was straightforward by nature. Seeing Lin Xi being bullied by Lu Chenyu, she naturally wanted to stand up for her.
Thus, her earlier words were intentionally directed at the troublemakers inside the classroom, especially aimed at Lu Chenyu.
She wanted to defend Lin Xi!
Lin Xi tugged at Mengni's shirt hem, signaling her to lower her voice.
"Aren't you afraid of him?" Mengni was somewhat annoyed by Lin Xi's patience. "If you're afraid of him, I'm not."
"It's not that I'm afraid of him; I just don't want to provoke him," Lin Xi thought back to how furious he had made her in the broadcasting room.
