Lu Chenyu suddenly stopped his head-shaking motion, his eyes, sharp and agile like a thief's, peering through the messy wet hair that hung in front of him at Lin Xi.
He stood still, his usually bright eyes, like his body, abruptly ceased their movement.
Lin Xi was also frozen in place, motionless.
She watched as the black ink from her recently written penmanship on the assignment paper slowly spread and enlarged in the rain, resembling a mass of wildly growing dark mycelium branching outwards.
This was her math assignment that she was about to submit!
"Lu Chenyu, go die!" A crisp and piercing shout suddenly echoed in the classroom.
The noisy classroom fell eerily silent as everyone turned to look in the direction of the voice, revealing a bizarre scene: Lin Xi's face had turned pale, her chest heaving as she glared at the creature beside her that resembled a drenched lion dog. That creature remained completely still, as if it had been frozen in place by Sun Wukong's magic.
That lion dog-like creature was none other than the usually fearless "Busy Doing Nothing" classmate, Lu Chenyu.
The sudden silence in the classroom made Lu Chenyu feel somewhat frightened.
He kept his head down, long hair hanging over his eyes, droplets still dripping from the ends of his hair.
He turned around, brushed aside the hair that had fallen onto his forehead, and peeked through the gaps in his hair at the quiet classmates behind him.
There were no expressions on anyone's faces.
Then someone began to chuckle quietly.
He turned again to look at Lin Xi.
Lin Xi's eyes were filled with tears, falling softly.
Lu Chenyu glanced again at the completely ruined notebook on the table.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I... I didn't know..."
This was probably the first time Lu Yuchen had ever apologized to someone, stammering and stumbling over his words, completely at a loss.
Despite Lu Chenyu's usual penchant for mocking and ridiculing various students, and being harsh towards girls, he was someone who preferred a soft approach. The girls he typically teased were either similar to him or had been toughened up by his jabs, developing a resistance to his sarcasm.

Before Lu Chenyu could finish his sentence, Lin Xi raised her tear-streaked face and shouted at him again.
Without saying another word, Lu Chenyu turned and walked out of the classroom.
Everyone's eyes followed his retreating figure as he left the room.
It was a long time before Lin Xi slowly sat down, wiping her tears.
At that moment, Meng Ni approached and handed Lin Xi a tissue. "Don't bother with people like him. It's not worth getting upset over."
That day, Lu Chenyu did not enter the classroom for the first period.
It was not until the second period that he walked into the classroom.
His hair was dry, and he had changed into a fresh set of sportswear.
He exuded a refreshing and charismatic aura.
As he slowly made his way to his seat, Lin Xi couldn't help but steal a glance at him. She secretly smiled to herself.
After all, a handsome guy is pleasing to the eye and uplifting for the mood; her earlier feelings of frustration had improved significantly.
To be honest, if Lu Chenyu were not so carefree, with poor grades and always getting into trouble, sitting next to him wouldn't be such a bad thing.
Ah! Truly, he is a gem with a flawed exterior.
With such good looks, why not refine and polish them? Lin Xi sighed with a hint of melancholy.
No matter how good the jade is, it won't become a vessel without carving!
In class that day, Lu Chenyu seemed much more obedient; his legs under the desk no longer shook constantly, but the smile on his face also seemed to have vanished.
As soon as class ended, his friends gathered around him again.
This was something Lin Xi found annoying.
Ever since she became his desk mate, her desk had been surrounded by his friends every day after class. They would pull and tug at him across Lin Xi's desk, making it hard for her to find peace.
After class, Lin Xi used to habitually review the content taught by the teacher or prepare for the next lesson. However, ever since she started sitting next to him, Lin Xi could no longer study or prepare before or after class.
Her life had become a complete mess!
But this time, when his friends came over to pull him away, he didn’t immediately stand up and joke around with them like he used to. Sometimes, he even bumped into Lin Xi.
He remained seated, smiling shyly while constantly glancing at Lin Xi, as if afraid of offending her again.
"Where did you find such a nice outfit?" his friends continued to tease him relentlessly.

Another classmate said with an elusive smile, looking at Lin Xi.
Lu Chenyu also glanced at Lin Xi.
Lin Xi sat there without any expression, as if she hadn’t heard a word they said.
"Get lost, get lost, get lost!" Lu Chenyu impatiently pushed his friends away while looking at Lin Xi.
With them pushing her around, Lin Xi couldn’t focus on her book at all, so she irritably flipped it over on the desk and left.
When Lin Xi returned to the classroom, his friends were no longer making noise like before; they had already returned to their seats.
Lu Chenyu quietly sat in his seat, surprisingly holding a book and pretending to read it seriously.
Lin Xi shot him a disdainful glance but didn’t say anything.
After all, she had already sworn in her heart not to speak to him. Today, it was only because he truly annoyed her that she called out his name and said a couple of words to him, even though those words were insults.
In Lin Xi's heart, she didn't even want to say anything insulting to him.
When Lin Xi walked in, he tugged at his shirt and straightened his posture.
This action made Lin Xi look down on him even more. A boy who was so vain and narcissistic was not necessarily wrong, but if he only focused on his appearance while neglecting his inner qualities, that was something Lin Xi found ridiculous.
In the following days, Lu Chenyu seemed much quieter. During class breaks, she didn't see his group of friends come over.
This situation was quite unusual.
Until one day on the way home from school, Meng Ni, who walked the same long path as Lin Xi, told her, "After you went out that day, those troublemakers joked with a girl from next door about Lu Chenyu. He got angry and scolded all of his friends."
They returned to their seats feeling dejected after being scolded and didn't dare to bother him again for several days.
Lin Xi stared at Meng Ni with curiosity as she listened to how Lu Chenyu had scolded them.
After she finished speaking, Lin Xi covered her mouth and laughed quietly. For the past few days, no one had disturbed her during her break time, and she felt particularly cheerful.
