Reiko is someone who does not like to worry about love, even though in the dormitory, she is the one who loudly expresses her desire for it.
Every day she just complains but never takes action for love.
However, since that day when his eyes fell on her and lightly glanced over, her gaze was destined to follow him.

"I declare that I only said Li Xueshou is good but never said you should take action." Zhu Shuting put down her book and raised her hand in declaration.
"I only said you should take action but never said Li Xueshou is good." Nan Xue glanced at Reiko with a disinterested expression.
"Come on, you guys! Who was it that backed out and denied everything when it came down to it? You. You. You." Reiko gritted her teeth and stood in front of them, pointing at each one.
When she pointed at Yang Zhi, Yang Zhi swatted away Reiko's finger that was poking her nose and said seriously, "Get out of here. Are you out of your mind? You're not a freshman just starting college with a crush. You’re already experienced; do you really want to play at first love with all the heart-pounding excitement?"
"What do you mean experienced? I’ve never been in a relationship!" Reiko pouted at Yang Zhi.
"Even if you haven't been in a relationship, you've had your fair share of experiences or at least seen enough!" Yang Zhi replied dismissively.
"What do you mean by having experiences or seeing enough?" Yang Zhi always liked to create new terms; Reiko found it strange but remained curious about her sudden new vocabulary.
"You haven't eaten pork, yet you haven't seen a pig walk?" Yang Zhi raised her face, looking at Reiko with a disdainful gaze. "Isn't love just like that? In college, there's a shortage of everything, but the one thing that's abundant is romantic experiences. Even if you haven't experienced it yourself, by the time you reach your junior year, you've seen so many breakups and makeups that you already feel it in your heart. College love, especially for someone like you who is still a blank slate in matters of love, is just a way to seek suffering. You have ready examples around you; if you don't believe me, just ask them."
Yang Zhi made a gesture towards Nan Xue and Zhu Shuting.
At that moment, Zhu Shuting was lazily lying on her bed reading a novel by Eileen Chang. After hearing Yang Zhi's words, she turned over to face the wall and lazily threw out a response from her bed.
"Don't ask me; what I had wasn't love, it was just playing around. I didn't feel anything, let alone any suffering."
Reiko and Yang Zhi simultaneously stuck out their tongues and exchanged knowing smiles before immediately falling silent.
If Zhu Shuting's experience couldn't be called suffering, then Reiko would be deterred from love altogether.
How could love make someone forget their own existence, with only the other person in their eyes? Yet after an intense and passionate entanglement of love and hate, it suddenly comes to an end. It’s like a thunderclap on a sunny day, followed by a sudden downpour that coldly drips onto the heart, leading to an endless drizzle thereafter.

Whenever she said this, she would habitually lower her eyelids, and her eyes would immediately reveal a sense of loneliness. No matter how cheerful she had been just moments before, the thought of her recently ended first love brought forth a heartache called melancholy that made anyone watching feel sad.
"Shuting, can you stop degrading yourself like this?"
Reiko felt some pity for her; every time she spoke about her past relationship with a nonchalant attitude, Reiko would walk up to her and gently embrace her.
Since breaking up with her boyfriend, Zhu Shuting either held a novel by Eileen Chang while lying on her bed or sat blankly at her desk.
It seemed she had been in this state of decline for quite some time.
And Nan Xue?
She stood by the window, silently gazing outside, seemingly indifferent to Reiko and Yang Zhi's conversation.
Nan Xue was basically in the opposite state of Zhu Shuting.
But her state of suffering was no less than that of Zhu Shuting.
Nan Xue wanted to go abroad, but her boyfriend had no plans to leave the country. Therefore, she took the initiative to break up with him. However, despite being the one to end the relationship, she suffered immensely because her boyfriend started dating another girl just a few months after their breakup and announced that they would get married after graduation.

On the other hand, Zhu Shuting found out that after two years of passionate love, she was merely a backup option.
Before going to college, her boyfriend had a high school sweetheart. When they entered university, they could not be in the same city; his girlfriend was in a southern city.
In the early days of their freshman year, he maintained a sweet long-distance relationship with his first love through phone calls from his dormitory.
