"Okay," Qinglan said, raising her eyes. "I estimate... there won't be another chance." Her nose felt a bit sour, and her voice began to buzz. 0

"What do you mean there won't be another chance, Lanlan? Did that brat An Shaojie run off with someone else?" Although Jia Zhilan sensed something was off with Qinglan's emotions, she still thought it was just a minor quarrel between Qinglan and An Shaojie, typical couple squabbles that made her a bit sulky. So when she asked, there was a teasing tone in her voice, and her eyes held a hint of laughter. 0

"Not really!" The more Qinglan spoke, the quieter her voice became. If she couldn't even convince herself, how could she make Jia Zhilan believe her? 0

"Did you two have a fight?" Jia Zhilan continued to guess. 0

It was better not to mention the fight; as soon as it was brought up, Qinglan's eyes couldn't help but redden again, as if the slap from that night still burned on her face. 0

She shook her head, unconsciously touching her still-painful cheek, and said in a low voice, "No." 0

Under Jia Zhilan's persistent questioning, Qinglan eventually revealed everything about her current situation with An Shaojie without holding back. Of course, she omitted the details of An Shaojie's hitting her. 0

In the end, Jia Zhilan said, "I'm worried about your situation with Xiao Xi. You young people these days are so unpredictable; it makes us elders anxious. I wonder how your mother Cui Fen would react if she knew about An Shaojie." 0

Qinglan didn't stay long at Lin Xi's home; after breakfast the next day, she planned to leave. 0

Firstly, it was her first time visiting Lin Xi's home, and she finally got to see Lin Wenhui and Jia Zhilan. It was a way to repay their kindness towards her when she was younger. Secondly, Lin Xi and Lu Chenyu were in a long-distance relationship; now that they had a rare chance to be together during the holidays, Qinglan didn't want to intrude on their world. 0

Moreover, on the night she arrived at Lin Xi's home, she received a call from Xiang Yuanqiu. Their school had a later break, and she was still at school. She asked Qinglan when she would return home since she was waiting in the county town for Qinglan to go back together. Qinglan couldn't lie and say she was still at school making Xiang Yuanqiu wait; instead, she mentioned that she was currently at Lin Xi's home. They agreed to return home together the next day. After thinking it over, Qinglan realized she couldn't stay at Lin Xi's home for too long and found a good reason to head back early. 0

The main reason Qinglan was eager to return home was that she wanted to see if An Shaojie had not gone back early. She hoped this outcome would at least bring her some peace of mind and that during the winter break, she'd have an opportunity to meet him and ask about his feelings. 0

Lin Wenhui returned home that night; after dinner, he received another phone call and went out, so he didn't have much conversation with Qinglan. Just before leaving, he told Qinglan to stay a few more days in the Provincial Capital so that Lin Xi and Lu Chenyu could spend some quality time with her. 0

Qinglan agreed verbally but was mentally planning her return home for the next day. 0

That day, after having dinner, Lu Chenyu went home because there was no place for him to sleep at Lin Xi's home, and his grandparents needed him to take care of them at night. Lin Xi accompanied him to the station. Qinglan really wanted to go out with Lin Xi to see him off, as a way to express her gratitude for him braving the wind and snow to pick them up today, and she also wanted to chat with Lin Xi on the way. However, just as Qinglan was about to step out to see him off, Lin Xi politely declined her, saying it was too cold outside. 0

Qinglan thought about it; the young couple had been apart for six months, and today was their first meeting without even having time alone together. It was just right to leave this time for them! Lin Xi had already missed him enough, and seeing Lu Chenyu's thin figure, it seemed his longing for Lin Xi was also deep. 0

When Lu Chenyu came out of Lin Xi's home, it was already past nine o'clock. Lin Xi's home was located in a residential area for school families, and it was dark and quiet outside. Snowflakes were still drifting down from the sky; they were not large or dense, just like willow catkins blown by the wind, occasionally floating carelessly above their heads. 0

As soon as he stepped out of the building, Lu Chenyu couldn't wait to hold Lin Xi in his arms and kiss her passionately. The kiss was thorough and intense, almost making Lin Xi unable to breathe as she could only respond with soft murmurs to his stormy kisses. After a long time, when his kisses became a bit gentler, Lin Xi managed to poke her head out slightly from being held tightly in his embrace to catch her breath. 0

Lu Chenyu held Lin Xi's face in his hands, brushed a strand of hair that had blown onto her face, and gazed deeply into her eyes as if he wanted to swallow her whole. In a voice that was almost hoarse, he said, "I miss you so much." 0

"Do you miss me?" Lu Chenyu then asked. 0

"What about you?" Lin Xi playfully smiled and tilted her face up to ask. 0

Lu Chenyu looked into her eyes and smiled back, "I don't know!" 0

Lin Xi lightly punched his chest, "What about your conscience?" 0

Lu Chenyu placed Lin Xi's hand over his heart and said, "My heart has long been gone; I've already placed it with you. I am no longer myself; the person I was before I met you no longer exists." 0

He sighed while looking at the dark sky, a layer of inexplicable hesitation in his eyes. 0

"You've lost a lot of weight; is studying very hard?" Lin Xi asked. 0

He held her hand as they walked slowly through the snow. 0

"Not at all," he replied lightly. 0

"Then why have you lost so much weight?" Lin Xi's voice trembled a bit; she felt sorry for him. 0

"I... it's because I miss you. Do you believe me, Lin Xi?" He paused and took her hand, rubbing it gently in his palm. 0

Lin Xi looked down and kicked the snow on the ground lightly. "I believe you." 0

Lu Chenyu seemed to finally breathe a sigh of relief. "Good, that's right. You must always believe that I miss you and love you." 0

Lin Xi nodded vigorously. 0

"Do you remember that time we went hiking, and you ran down the mountain out of anger?" Lu Chenyu asked, holding Lin Xi's hand. 0

"I remember," Lin Xi replied. 0

"Promise me you won't do that again in the future, okay?" Lu Chenyu said seriously. 0

Lin Xi smiled. "You still care about such a small thing? I won't get angry anymore; it's really easy." 0

Lin Xi agreed with Lu Chenyu but felt he was making a big deal out of something trivial. It was such a minor issue that it hardly mattered, yet he took it so seriously that it made her feel a bit uneasy. The old him no longer existed, and Lin Xi sensed that he had changed a lot. Every time they talked, he seemed to hesitate to express himself. Especially just now when they stepped out; his warm embrace and passionate kiss truly conveyed his intense longing—an overwhelming longing. But why did he never take the initiative to contact her on ordinary days? 0
