After saying that, I smiled apologetically at the group in the private room:
"I'm sorry to interrupt everyone. Please enjoy yourselves; I'm going back now."
"Ugh, boring."
"I still want to see what she can do for Yan Feng."
"You're saying that as if she would willingly die for Yan Feng. What are we in this drinking party?"
I turned and left the private room.
Once I reached the lobby of the club, I stopped and wanted to wait for Yan Feng here.
I thought I needed to clarify things between us.
The club manager approached me, bowing respectfully:
"Miss He, you don't seem well. Why don't you wait in the lounge?"
"No, thank you."
I shook my head, fearing that if Yan Feng came down and didn't see me, I would miss him again.
The manager nodded and didn't say anything more.
I sat on the sofa, waiting for Yan Feng.
I lost track of time; my eyelids grew heavier, and everything around me faded to black.
"Miss He, Miss He."
I heard the manager calling me, but I didn't even have the strength to open my eyes.
When I woke up again, I found myself in a hospital.
"Sister-in-law, you're awake."
A familiar voice came from beside the bed.
It was Yan Feng's cousin, Yan Feifei.
"Feifei, what are you doing here?"
I looked at her in confusion: "Who brought me to the hospital?"
Yan Feifei pouted angrily:
"It was Yan Feng who sent me here. He said you were faking illness to gain sympathy."
I forced a bitter smile and said nothing.
Yan Feng hated me now.
He didn't even want to look at me.
"Sister-in-law, I'm not trying to criticize you, but you're really useless."
Yan Feifei scolded, "Can't you be a bit tougher?"
"Tougher?"
I looked at Yan Feifei, the corners of my lips curling into a bitter arc.
"Do you think I haven't been tough before?"
In the early years of my marriage to Yan Feng, I had been tough.
Every time Yan Feng came home late at night, I would question him about where he had been.
Whenever rumors spread about Yan Feng and Lynn Yueyue, I would demand an explanation from him.
But each time, my toughness only earned me Yan Feng's disdain,
and it resulted in an even colder attitude from him towards me.
So gradually, I became more humble.
I thought that as long as I could be good to Yan Feng,
as long as he was willing to stay by my side, what did it matter if I lost my dignity?
"Hey."
Yan Feifei looked at me and sighed.
"Sister-in-law, my brother is just a jerk; don't pay him any mind."
"Yeah."
I nodded, "Thank you, Feifei."
"Why are you thanking me?"
Yan Feifei waved her hand.
"I'm just upset; why should my brother bully you like this?"
"No way, I need to call my brother."
As she spoke, Yan Feifei took out her phone.
"Feifei."
I reached out and grabbed Yan Feifei's hand, shaking my head at her.
"Forget it, don't hit her anymore."
"Sister-in-law, you need to be tougher; you can't spoil my brother like this."
Yan Feifei pushed my hand away and dialed Yan Feng's number.
"Yan Feng, sister-in-law is in the hospital; aren't you coming to see her?"
"In the hospital?"
A cold scoff came from the other end of the phone:
"She's just faking it for sympathy; don't let her fool you."
"Yan Feng, you're really not a man."
"Who are you calling not a man?"
"Hmph, whoever speaks is."
Yan Feifei snorted coldly: "Let me ask you, has Lynn Yueyue come back?"
"So what if she has?"
"Yan Feng, don't forget that you and Lynn Yueyue broke up a long time ago."
"So what?"
Yan Feng's icy voice rang out:
"My relationship with her is my own business. If I want her back, what does it have to do with you?"
"You..."
"And tell He Li that if she dares to disturb Yueyue, I will not let her off."
"Yan Feng, you jerk!"
Yan Feifei cursed loudly and hung up the phone.
