"Then why did you do those ambiguous things before? Did you plan all along to treat this as a dream, part ways once we disembark?" Gu Yan bit his lip hard and said, "Fine, let's go with your wishes. After all, this kind of thing is about mutual consent; we're both men, so it's not like anyone is taking advantage of the other. If you want to leave, that's fine." His gaze turned to the sky outside the window, his tone cooling down as he said lightly, "When the ship docks, you don't need to tell me. Just leave on your own." 0

He strained his ears, hoping for some response from the other party. Even if words couldn't be spoken, he longed to hear some sound of reluctance. But the air remained dead silent. 0

Gu Yan took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and said, "If fate allows, we'll meet again." After throwing down that line, Gu Yan turned around to straighten his somewhat disheveled clothes, glanced at him from the side, and slammed the door behind him. 0

Since that argument, Gu Yan simply requested another room and instructed someone to move his belongings out. He no longer returned to the original cabin. Although this new bedroom was slightly less luxurious than the previous one, Gu Yan didn't mind; he just continued with his daily routine of eating and drinking. 0

Gu Yan concocted various reasons to force himself to feel better. After all, he had no standing to retain someone else; they hadn't known each other long enough and their interactions were shallow. He didn't even know the other's name. Even if there had been some vague flirtation in the past, they hadn't taken that final step. It was quite normal for men to help each other out in such ways. 0

Constantly building himself up psychologically, Gu Yan tried not to feel as frustrated as before. He spent the next few days holed up in his room, avoiding any chance of running into that person. Days passed monotonously until one morning when the waiter knocked on his door with breakfast, and Gu Yan suddenly realized several days had already gone by. 0

"Mr. Gu, the ship has docked. Do you have a hotel reservation? We can send your luggage over," the waiter said. 0

Gu Yan replied, "I have a property here; it's a bit old and in a remote area. I plan to stay there. Please hire someone to send my luggage there; I'll give you the address shortly." 0

"Alright, sir. Is there anything else you need?" 0

Gu Yan hesitated for a moment but finally sighed and asked, "By any chance, how's everything in that original room... been packed up?" He intended to ask if the person inside was still there but paused and casually inquired instead. 0

The waiter frowned slightly and recalled, "I think I remember the door being locked when I came over, so I'm not sure about the situation inside. Would you like Mr. Gu to check it personally?" 0

Locked door... Could it be that he disembarked ahead of time? 0

Gu Yan hesitated but ultimately refused, saying, "No need; it's fine." 0

"Okay." 0

Gu Yan said lightly, "There's nothing more here; you can go now. Thank you." 0

Once the waiter closed the door, a hint of loneliness appeared on Gu Yan's face. 0

Although he knew the other would leave, not having a proper farewell was undeniably chilling. However far apart they might be in the future, it seemed unlikely they'd meet again in this lifetime. Not saying goodbye was perhaps better; disappearing quietly without a trace felt like never having come at all—easier to forget as if it never existed. 0

He shook his head and forced himself not to dwell on it any longer, redirecting his focus onto his upcoming plans. 0
