Guo Naidong ignored my sarcasm, and on the other end of the line came Xiao Baozhu's voice.
"Naidong, what are you asking Hao Jing to do? Isn't it just dancing? I can dance for you. If those clients take a liking to me, I can dance all night..."
I completely broke down and cried uncontrollably.
Guo Naidong hurriedly took the phone and comforted me, "Jingjing, don't listen to her nonsense. How could I let her go dance?"
I couldn't hear what he was saying anymore; my mind was filled with Xiao Baozhu's words—"I can dance for you. If those clients take a liking to me, I can dance all night..."
I cried so hard that my whole body trembled.
Guo Naidong's assistant, Xiao Wang, arrived with bodyguards.
"Miss Hao, Mr. Guo has asked us to take you to the banquet."
Numbly, I put on my high heels, shackled by two bodyguards as we walked towards the door.
Suddenly, a figure rushed over and quickly rescued me from their grasp.
Through my tear-filled eyes, I saw that this person was tall and imposing, exuding an air of authority that seemed to look down on everything.
When I regained my senses, I realized it was Gao Huaizhong.
I stared at him in shock, "…What are you doing here?"
Gao Huaizhong said nothing; he took off his suit jacket and draped it over me before picking me up and striding outside.
Xiao Wang and the two bodyguards quickly followed.
"Who are you? Put Miss Hao down!"
Gao Huaizhong's gaze was sharp and his demeanor calm as he glanced at them.
Calmly, he said, "Hao Jing doesn't need anyone right now, so you all can leave."
His aura was overwhelming, pressing down on the three of them until they dared not move. By the time they reacted, Gao Huaizhong and I had already disappeared.
He shoved me into the passenger seat and closed the door for me before taking the driver's seat himself. I looked at his profile, feeling a mix of emotions.
It had been four years, and he was still the same as before.
"Where's your car?" I asked.
"The driver took it away," Gao Huaizhong replied as he started the engine.
I lowered my eyelashes and softly asked, "Where are you taking me?"
"Home," Gao Huaizhong glanced at me and added, "Old Gao has been thinking about you. Once you're well again, go visit him."
My eyelashes fluttered, but I remained silent.
Old Gao was my mentor and Gao Huaizhong's grandfather. Four years ago, I had run away from the the Gao Family and sought refuge with Guo Naidong. Now that I was seeing Gao Huaizhong again, I found it hard to face him.
Noticing my silence, Gao Huaizhong sneered, "What's wrong? Are you reluctant to leave Guo Naidong?"
I bit my lip but still didn't respond.
Gao Huaizhong continued, "After being with him for so many years, what have you gained besides losing your pride?"
I remained quiet, sitting there in silence.
He was right. I had indeed lost my former pride while being with Guo Naidong. In the year after I escaped to his side, I felt like a withered flower, lacking vitality.
Guo Naidong took great care of me, allowing me to bloom again. I gradually fell in love with him. However, now... Gao Huaizhong remained silent upon seeing me, seemingly a bit irritated. "Do you love him that much, Hao Jing?" I shook my head and finally spoke up: "I just feel like I've failed." Gao Huaizhong replied coldly, "You don't need to blame yourself. I will help you take revenge and won't let him have it easy." My nose tinged with bitterness as I suppressed my tears. Gao Huaizhong said nothing more and focused on driving. The the Gao Family hospital in the Capital of Jingzhao was decorated like a kindergarten, exuding warmth everywhere. I knew this was specially arranged by Gao Huaizhong.
