It was delivered by a servant, and it contained the news that Aunt Luo had already been sent aboard the ship. I took it and examined it carefully.
"Well done."
"However, I noticed that Xue Qingrou seems quite interested in you."
"Ji Rufeng, she was just flirting with you."
"What do you think?"
Ji Rufeng knelt on one knee before me, his tone sincere.
"I will never betray the young lady."
I raised an eyebrow, my tone teasing.
"Is it just not betraying me?"
Ji Rufeng's ears turned red as he spoke softly.
"...and I will never let down the young lady."
At the Xue Family Banquet, Xue Qingrou linked her arm with Ji Rufeng's, smiling sweetly.
"Sister, I've already asked Father for permission; from now on, Ji Rufeng will belong to me. You don't mind, do you?"
I narrowed my eyes, a dangerous glint in them.
"I disagree."
Xue Qingrou pouted.
"Sister, Ji Ge is a person, not an object. How can you monopolize him?"
"Why don't you ask Ji Ge if he wants to follow you?"
She looked at Ji Rufeng expectantly.
"Ji Ge, do you want to follow me?"
"I will treat you very well."
I raised an eyebrow and looked at Ji Rufeng, a smile playing on my lips.
"Well, are you going to follow her?"
Ji Rufeng's expression darkened as he withdrew his arm and replied coldly,
"I only wish to follow the young lady."
Xue Qingrou's face stiffened, and she bit her lip.
"Sister, Brother Ji has his own wishes."
"You can't be so domineering."
I chuckled.
"I am being domineering; do you have any objections?"
Xue Qingrou's eyes turned red, on the verge of tears.
"Father, look at Sister..."
My father cleared his throat and spoke up.
" Wanning, he's just a guard; you..."
Xue Qingrou resorted to various methods, even threatening my father with Aunt Luo's black accounts to get Ji Rufeng.
My father was helpless and could only force Ji Rufeng to go to Xue Qingrou.
But before he could finish speaking, Ji Rufeng interjected from the side.
"I do not wish to."
After being rejected by Ji Rufeng again, my father's face fell, and he became somewhat angry.
He smashed his wine cup on the ground, ceramic shards flying everywhere.
Ji Rufeng's face was instantly cut by a shard.
"Are you truly unwilling to go to Qingrou?!"
My father's expression was grim.
"I only wish to follow the young lady."
My father raised his hand, and another cup smashed at Ji Rufeng's feet. Ceramic shards grazed Ji Rufeng's face, leaving a trail of blood. I stepped forward and stood beside Ji Rufeng, looking at my father.
"Ji Rufeng has already said he only wishes to follow me."
"Father, please don't force him."
Seeing the scars on Ji Rufeng's face, my gaze darkened, and a surge of anger welled up inside me. I walked in front of my father and whispered in his ear.
"Father, some things are better left alone."
"If you go too far, it won't just be about losing a guard."
My father's pupils constricted as he glared at me in anger.
"Are you threatening me?!"
I smiled.
"Father, why get so angry?"
"I'm merely protecting my own interests."
"Just like how you sacrificed your most beloved person to protect those interests back then."
I pointedly glanced at Xue Qingrou. Her face turned pale, and she swayed unsteadily.
