I continued to browse through the account book, letting out a sigh. Sure enough, Shuji Pharmacy was exposed for using live subjects for drug testing. The public's reaction was intense. Shuji Pharmacy faced serious accusations of conducting experiments on patients, cutting corners, and selling counterfeit drugs—each charge could be fatal.
Now, all the money from the Shareholder has gone down the drain. Xue Qingrou attracted the attention of the court due to her hoarding and was summoned by the Ministry of Revenue for questioning. " Xue Wanning, you knew I would go to Xia Yifu, and you also knew I would acquire Shuji Pharmacy, right?"
"You deliberately set this up to bait me."
"You pretended to compete with me for Merchant House, then let me lower my guard while you were actually fully prepared."
" Xue Wanning, you knew everything."
I smiled lightly. "Not too stupid after all."
Xue Qingrou seemed drained of strength; her face was pale and her body trembled. "Impossible, how could this be?"
"You’ve been competing with me all along; how could you not know..."
"How could I not know?"
I sneered. "You privately contacted the Shareholder of Money House, bribed my personal maid, and stole secrets from Merchant House. Which of these actions weren’t aimed at competing with me?"
"Xue Qingrou, you've always wanted to win against me."
"But you lost."
Xue Qingrou completely collapsed to the ground, her eyes vacant as if she had lost her soul.
After a long while, she lifted her head and said, "Give me some silver; I want to go to Southeast Asian. I promise I will never come back."
I stood up, adjusted my clothes, and looked down at her. "Xue Qingrou, do you know why I was able to kick Father out?"
"Because he is foolish?"
