The owner of the footsteps was none other than Li Yiqian, who shared a dorm room with Su Jin'er. Although they were roommates, Su Jin'er always felt that something was off about her, though she couldn't quite put her finger on it. Li Yiqian was always solitary and didn't like to talk, but whenever she did speak, it was about gods and ghosts, which often scared Linyuan and Du Xiaonan in the dormitory, leading them to receive scoldings from the dorm supervisor.
"Why aren't you doing experiments in our Old Laboratory and instead came here?" Su Jin'er asked with a smile.

"Well, have you noticed anything unusual here, like ketchup?" Su Jin'er asked tentatively. If there really was a corpse here, Li Yiqian, who was conducting experiments, would surely know.

Li Yiqian's expression changed slightly before she smiled and said, "How could that be? I've been here the whole time; how could I not see a dead person? You must be imagining things!"
Xu Lingling wanted to say more but was pulled away by Chu Feifan. "Oh! Maybe she is just imagining things. It's fine; let's go. You continue with your experiments!"
Throughout the entire exchange, Zuo Yi had not said a word. He found Li Yiqian's demeanor strange and had been observing her expressions. Aside from her slight change in color when hearing about the dead person, he couldn't discern any other emotions.
As they turned to head downstairs, Li Yiqian's voice came from behind: "If you're so afraid of dead people, how will you become a doctor? The Morgue in medical school is filled with corpses; what's so surprising about seeing dead people? You made me accidentally cut my hand."
It was then that Su Jin'er noticed the bandage wrapped around Li Yiqian's index finger.
Xu Lingling was genuinely infuriated by her words and shot back, "What's so impressive about cutting your finger? As a doctor holding a scalpel, cutting yourself is common; there's nothing to make a fuss about."

Li Yiqian trembled with anger and turned to leave.
"Women are truly formidable," Zuo Yi remarked with his arms crossed.
"We need to check if Xu Mengguang is still around," Su Jin'er said anxiously, completely ignoring their argument.
"Do you think there's a problem?"
"I don't know, I just feel very uneasy." Then she smiled at Chu Feifan and said, "It's nothing, maybe I'm just overthinking."
Looking at her smile, he felt a moment of panic. He wished she could always smile at him without a care in the world, but her pale complexion worried him.
Xu Lingling watched Chu Feifan constantly concern himself with Su Jin'er and said angrily, "Actually, the reason I didn't tell the police is that I think this kind of thing isn't something the police can solve."
"Why do you say that?" Upon hearing her words, everyone turned their attention to her, and Zuo Yi asked with a frown.
"Well, I heard that the Old Laboratory is haunted. There have been all sorts of rumors in the academy, and the students are scared, so it was sealed off."
At this point, they had already exited the Old Laboratory.

"But this seems to be true?" Xu Lingling said pitifully. To emphasize the reality of the matter, she even glanced fearfully back at the Old Laboratory.
"You don't mean to say that a woman died here and then turned into a Vengeful Spirit causing trouble, right?" Zuo Yi placed his hands behind his head and looked at the sky.
"You’re right, but it's not that we don’t know the reason; we do know the reason." She leaned closer to Chu Feifan as if that would make her less afraid.
Su Jin'er rubbed her forehead in frustration; she didn't want to know about these things because they had nothing to do with her.
"I'm leaving now. I've wasted so much time; I don't want to be late on my first day of class, and Linyuan will be worried if he can't find me."
She waved her hand and left without paying any attention to Chu Feifan calling after her.
No matter how that woman died or how she caused trouble in the Old Laboratory, it had nothing to do with her. She came here solely to study well; everything else was unimportant.
Indeed, she was right. In the classroom, Linyuan couldn't find her. At that moment, he was anxiously looking around at the classroom door. She quickened her pace to walk over.

Su Jin'er shot her a glare and said, "Go find a seat already; stop talking so much."
"Hehe!"
They found a spot in the corner where they could clearly see the front, so they wouldn't miss anything.
"By the way, you mentioned earlier that you ran into something on your way. What happened?"
"Actually, it was nothing serious; just a false alarm," she said lightly while flipping through her book.
Linyuan shrugged; she knew that this kind of response meant Su Jin'er didn’t want to talk about it anymore. Continuing to ask would be pointless, so she kept quiet and focused on her own book.
"Hey! Did you guys hear? It seems like the school has opened Room 414 in Building 4 today!" one student whispered.
"No way! How come we didn't hear about such a big deal?" another student replied.
"Is it true? I heard that four girls moved in. I wonder if anything will happen this year!"
"Stop talking nonsense. Nothing has happened in the past few years, so it should be fine. The school has kept this matter under wraps, and it wouldn't be good if others overheard us!"
Hearing their conversation, Linyuan couldn't help but perk up her ears. She was quite interested in these strange rumors! When she heard them mention 414, her curiosity was piqued even more.
Room 414? Isn't that their dormitory? Could there be some news inside?
She leaned forward and tapped the shoulder of the student in front of her, asking curiously, "Excuse me, classmate, could you tell me what happened in room 414?"
The girl turned around, glanced at Linyuan, then looked at Su Jin'er, who was quietly reading beside her. She whispered, "This is a very confidential matter. If the school finds out we're discussing it, we'll definitely face severe punishment."
"Aren't you first-year freshmen?"
"Yes!"
"If the school doesn't allow gossip, how do you know about it?"
The girl thought for a moment and said, "We have a senior sister in our dormitory who told us."
"Then tell me about it! I'll share a secret with you." Linyuan leaned closer to the girl and said, "I live in that dormitory!"
"What?" The girl and the one who had spoken to her earlier looked at Linyuan in shock.
Linyuan was also startled by their expressions; she shrank back a bit but still nodded seriously at the two girls.

At that moment, several people walked in from outside—it was Chu Feifan and his group. The arrival of Chu Feifan and Zuo Yi naturally caused a stir, followed by a wave of screams from the girls.
Chu Feifan spotted Su Jin'er sitting at the back. She was focused on her book and didn't even look up while everyone else was screaming. Chu Feifan felt a bit disappointed but still walked straight over to her.
The two girls, who had just been scared about the incident in Room 414, were now looking excitedly at the two handsome guys walking towards them.
"Hi! Are you also taking classes here?" Zuo Yi smiled at them, his eyes narrowing into charming slits.
"Yeah!" Linyuan replied with a smile. They had met before, so she wasn't overly excited. Her mind was still occupied with the rumors about Room 414, making her indifferent to their arrival.
Su Jin'er also smiled lightly and continued reading her book.
They sat down behind them, and Chu Feifan's gaze towards Su Jin'er seemed somewhat sorrowful.
Meanwhile, Linyuan was still focused on asking about the rumors surrounding Room 414.
"Come on, just tell me!"
The girl lowered her head and bit her lip, saying, "Alright! But it's already class time, so let's talk after class! Just don't spread it around! This matter has been quiet for several years now, so it shouldn't happen again. The Senior Sister told us this as a story."
Linyuan nodded eagerly like a chick pecking at rice.
