The village chief's eyes sparkled with warmth as he gently placed his hand on Edric's shoulder, his face adorned with a kind smile. He looked at Edric with a sense of contentment and said, "It looks like you're having a good time tonight."
Edric smiled and let out a genuine laugh, "Haha, not too bad at all!" He raised his beer glass in a gesture of gratitude towards the village chief. There was a long-lost sparkle in his eyes, as if on this festive night, he had found a part of himself that had been missing for a while.
The village chief also raised the cup in his hand and clinked it with Edric. There was a hint of accomplishment in his smile, as if seeing Edric change like this was also satisfying for him. "This kind of night belongs to every one of us, no matter where we come from or what kind of past we carry," the village chief said softly.
Edric's gaze fell on Feren who was dancing passionately in the distance, and he jokingly said to the village chief, "That kid dances really badly, just like a goose."
The village chief followed Edric's gaze and saw the clumsy yet enthusiastic dance steps of Feren, couldn't help but laugh, nodding in agreement, "Indeed, just like a goose. That Feren boy really needs more practice."
A kind smile appeared on the village chief's face, his eyes carrying a hint of reminiscence as he turned to look at the figure of Feren, responding with a smile, "But you know, when I was young, I was known as the dance king in this village. Whenever there was a celebration, everyone looked forward to the dances I led."
Speaking, the village chief suddenly seemed to be in high spirits, his feet involuntarily shaking as if he were reenacting the dance steps of the past. He gracefully spun a small circle, then stopped, his smile carrying a hint of mischief and pride: "Look, this was my signature move back in the day."
Edric couldn't help but burst into laughter at the sudden display of youthful energy by the village chief. He felt the vitality of the village chief and his passion for life. In this moment, he temporarily forgot about the pain and sadness in his heart, only feeling pure joy. The village chief's laughter intertwined with Edric's laughter, creating a heartwarming scene.
In the lively atmosphere of the celebration, Edric suddenly felt an invisible pressure, a sensation only he seemed to notice. It was as if he caught a subtle sound near his ears, an almost imperceptible rumble, but he couldn't determine its source.
Edric looked up at the sky, but saw nothing except the thick night sky. His brows furrowed slightly, and his inner unease sharply contrasted with the joyful atmosphere around him. People were laughing and dancing, completely unaware of Edric's inner turmoil.
He felt a familiar yet unfamiliar sense of urgency, as if a warning from a distant battlefield, but there were no obvious signs of threat around him. The warrior of Edric instinctively felt that this might be some kind of omen, but he couldn't be sure what it was.
In this peaceful land, Edric's feelings seemed particularly isolated. A sense of Chao'X gradually welled up in his heart, partly from the fear of the unknown and partly from the responsibility of being the last heir of the House of Heraldry.
His hand involuntarily tightened around the cup, as he tried to focus on the celebration in front of him, but the deep-seated unease seemed impossible to dispel. Edric's gaze kept wandering through the crowd, unable to fully immerse himself in the lively atmosphere. His mind was filled with doubt and struggle, unsure of what this unknown premonition would bring.
Edric's expression appeared distant, his gaze deep and lost, as if trying to grasp that vague feeling. The village chief noticed Edric's unease and kindly patted his shoulder.
"What's wrong, Edric? Are you feeling unwell?" The village chief's voice was full of concern.
Edric shook his head, a hint of struggle flashing in his eyes. His voice trembled slightly as he said, "It's not a physical issue, I... I'm not sure. It's just that all of a sudden, I felt a kind of inexplicable danger, like something is about to happen."
The village chief was puzzled by Edric's worries, but his eyes were full of concern and understanding. He gently patted Edric's shoulder, trying to calm his unease: "You have been through so much, now you should relax and enjoy this moment of peace. You know, sometimes our minds can be overly sensitive to certain things because of past experiences. Maybe you just need time to adjust yourself."
Edric took a deep breath, trying to relax his nerves, but his intuition remained strong. As the last of the House of Heraldry, he knew that his intuition was often right. He looked up at the sky again, and that ominous premonition still lingered in his mind.
He said to the village chief, "Maybe you're right, I need time to calm down. But my intuition tells me that not everything is as simple as it seems. I will stay vigilant."
The village chief nodded in understanding, then smiled at Edric. "That's good. Tonight, just relax and don't let those invisible pressures affect you. Now, you are a guest of our village and a hero. Enjoy this moment!"
Edric smiled and tried to shift his attention to the festival in front of him. He knew that, at least for now, he should rest and enjoy this brief moment of tranquility. But the unease in his heart felt like a lurking shadow, ready to leap out at any moment.
