I lingered until nine o'clock, and there was really no reason to stay any longer. I thought about going to find Miao Miao, but at that moment, my feelings were truly complicated. I was afraid to see Miao Miao; I feared that what Wang Xu said was true—that Miao Miao was the mastermind behind all of this. 0

I had once wholeheartedly believed in Wang Xu, and now I was left with a mess. I really didn't have the courage to believe any further. 0

As I stood up, intending to leave, the lights behind me suddenly turned on. I turned around, expecting it to be Sister Lu or another colleague, but to my surprise, Lu Ming was standing at the door. He wore a black suit with a beige trench coat over it, and a loosely draped dark blue scarf around his neck. If he added a deer-hunting hat, he would look just like Sherlock from my imagination. 0

"Still here?" 0

Lu Ming's position was awkward; I had to walk past him to get out. If there had been a second exit, I definitely wouldn't have walked towards him. Deep down, I was afraid of facing this person, especially in such a disheveled state. 0

It was unfortunate that I ran into him today. 0

My head throbbed. 0

"Um, just got here. There are some things I don't understand, so I'll finish them up since there's nothing else to do." The more I spoke, the more mistakes I made. With my head down, I walked toward the door where Lu Ming stood. When I reached his side, I paused; it was only polite to say goodbye before leaving. 0

After all, he was still my boss. 0

"Lu Zong, I'm leaving now." 0

I had no interest in why Lu Ming was here so late; I only blamed myself for dragging things out until now when nothing had really happened. 0

I wanted to quicken my pace and get past Lu Ming to leave, but suddenly my arm was grabbed. Looking down and then meeting Lu Ming's gaze reminded me of how disheveled I looked. Not knowing if I'd managed to compose myself again, I hurriedly shifted my gaze away, fearing it would cause more trouble. 0

"Let's have a meal together," Lu Ming suddenly said. 0

I exclaimed, "Ah," and quickly shook my head. "No, no, Mr. Lu, you're busy. I'll head back first." 0

Thinking about eating reminded me of that night when I saw Lu Ming covered in vomit, and I wanted to apologize. However, apologies require the right timing, and neither of us had that. Now that I had the chance, I felt very resistant. 0

When Lu Ming let go of my hand, I was still surprised and stood there in a daze. Looking at Lu Ming, I saw him smiling at me. "Are you willing now?" 0

It dawned on me that my behavior was even stranger than his. My face flushed red, and in a panic, I turned to leave. I hurriedly took the elevator down to the first floor. Once outside the office building, I spotted a car parked at the entrance; it was Lu Ming's car, which I recognized. 0

The lights inside the car were still on, and there was a woman sitting in the passenger seat. She looked to be in her early twenties, heavily made up with long flowing hair, wearing a V-neck sweater. For some reason, she reminded me of Deng Xiaomei. 0

Both had similar appearances and ages; one lived in a house bought by Wang Xu while the other sat in Lu Ming's car. It made me wonder if they were both the same—using their youth to exchange for greater benefits. Unconsciously, I began to feel disgusted by this woman and by Lu Ming as well. 0

Was physical desire really that important? Even with marriage and family, were people still so willing to indulge in it? 0

At that moment, I heard footsteps approaching from behind. I turned around to see Lu Ming walking toward me, looking at me with an inscrutable expression. We locked eyes for a long time until I finally looked away first and walked off in my high heels. 0
