Miao Miao's facial expression twitched slightly. "It's about information exchange, you know..." 0

"What is it?" Miao Miao's demeanor clearly indicated that something was wrong. 0

"Ah, Zhuang Jun, please promise me you won't get angry." Miao Miao tightened her voice awkwardly. "I really didn't want to approach Lu Ming, you know? I can't stand him. If it weren't for Wang Nan saying that Lu Ming definitely knows and has more details than anyone else, I wouldn't have asked him at all." 0

"Okay, and then?" Miao Miao seemed to be concerned about my feelings, afraid I would be upset about her meeting with Lu Ming. But in reality, I felt the most regret because of the rift between me and Lu Ming. I was holding Miao Miao back. 0

"Well, that day I happened to meet with Lu Ming, and I didn't mention it was related to you. I just asked about Wang Xu's company, and Lu Ming said he knew." 0

"So he asked you to exchange information and then told you what he knew?" 0

Miao Miao cautiously nodded, glancing at me several times. 0

"So what information did he want?" 0

"Um," Miao Miao hesitated. "About you." 0

"Me?" 0

"Yeah, actually I know it's wrong for me to say this. I thought about not exchanging anything with him, but then Lu Ming said that he could find out whatever through any channel, and the things I could only know through him weren't an equal exchange. I thought about it and realized he was right. Besides, what he asked wasn't too unreasonable, so I told him." 0

"What did he ask?" I was curious. 0

"He asked... how you met Wang Xu." 0

"That's it? Just that?" 0

Miao Miao nodded, "Yeah, that's it." 0

Various questions that Lu Ming might ask floated through my mind. He wasn't the type to gossip, so I was already surprised that he wanted to exchange questions about me. Who would have thought his questions would be so strange and disorganized? Never mind, let's not mention him. 0

My lack of interest in Lu Ming probably relieved Miao Miao. After that, we discussed everything related to my mother-in-law. We were still debating whether to bring a voice recorder or not. It was mainly because the lawyer mentioned that the recorded content needed to be somewhat complete. From my mother-in-law, aside from hearing some sour remarks about me, we probably wouldn't capture any useful information. 0

"Let's just bring it along and see. It's good to have it, but if not, then forget it," Miao Miao seemed reluctant to give up on this option. 0

"Okay." I nodded in agreement. "But my mother-in-law and Wang Xu should be together every day now. After all, Wang Xu doesn't have many friends to hang out with, and neither does my mother-in-law. It would be too difficult to separate them. Even if I invite my mother-in-law out as Deng Xiaomei's friend, it would be better to do it when Wang Xu isn't around." 0

"Wang Xu probably can't say a single honest word now, so you mustn't believe anything he says. Just thinking about how he has deceived you time and again makes me angry. How can he say whatever comes to his mind? Is he even a man?" 0

Miao Miao cursed angrily for a moment, saying she had never seen another man as terrible as Wang Xu in her life and wondered how he could even be born as a human. 0

To this day, Wang Xu's actions still hurt me without reservation. Miao Miao couldn't make sense of what he had done; neither could I. Occasionally recalling moments related to Wang Xu had taken on a different flavor, and the thought of having a good conversation with him had become difficult. 0

"Miao Miao, actually I think it's partly my fault that Wang Xu has become like this." 0

Miao Miao widened her eyes in surprise, and I could only chuckle awkwardly. "You should know too that I also played a role in this situation with Wang Xu. If I lived independently like you do, he probably wouldn't have gotten tired of me so quickly." 0

"Hey, why are you saying all this? Wang Xu's infidelity wasn't directed by you. Anyway, Wang Xu is wrong; that's an unchangeable fact. Don't take on his mistakes; it's all due to his own flawed character." 0

I shook my head. "I'm not trying to share the blame or shirk responsibility, but Miao Miao, tell me—if I had taken better care of myself and hadn’t resigned to stay at home relying on Wang Xu for everything, would he have cherished me more?" 0

Admitting and facing my own faults was much harder than blaming others. I was angry at Wang Xu and also at myself. 0

"Don't do that, Zhuang Jun." Miao Miao hurriedly sat next to me to help calm me down. "You can't take everything upon yourself; no one knows what happens after marriage. With how careless Wang Xu is, how can you take on his responsibilities? Don't overthink it; ultimately, this is all Wang Xu's fault—an unchangeable fact." 0

Miao Miao is definitely on my side, speaking up for me, but I also know what the reality is. Looking back, I can't help but feel a sense of sadness; I never imagined I would end up in this situation. 0

"I know." 0

After talking with Miao Miao, I decided to first have a chat with my mother-in-law. Starting anything is difficult, and the process is not easy either. We need to take it step by step. With the year-end approaching and still being stuck in place, what does that mean? 0

I never expected it to be so easy, but I hoped that getting a divorce could be simpler; yet, even this seems so difficult. 0

Before I could leave with Miao Miao, someone suddenly approached us. When I looked closely, it was Wang Yue, whom I hadn't seen in a long time. She came over to stand next to me, clearly wanting to talk. 0

"Miao Miao, aren't you going to Wang Nan's place? You should go ahead; I'll call you another day." 0

Miao Miao didn't immediately agree with me. She glanced at Wang Yue and said sharply, "What do you want? Why are you here?" 0

"Yes, Miao Miao sister, I have something I want to discuss with Sister Zhuang." Wang Yue openly admitted without hesitation. 0

Miao Miao has never been fond of Wang Yue. That's just how she is; if she likes someone, it's obvious, and if she doesn't, it's written all over her face, making you feel uncomfortable. 0

"If you have something to say, just say it. Why waste time? If you want to talk, hurry up; we Zhuang Jun are busy." 0

Wang Yue wasn't bothered by Miao Miao's cold remarks. She plopped down across from us and smiled widely: "I heard that Sister Zhuang no longer has Little Shuang. Did Miao Miao sister find her another job?" 0

Hearing Wang Yue say this, I sensed a hint of sarcasm in her tone. It seemed I wasn't the only one who noticed; Miao Miao responded irritably: "Our Zhuang Jun is about to start work, but she got that job based on her own abilities. If she wants a certain kind of job, she can find it easily; you don't need to worry about that." 0

"Of course, I understand that water flows downward and people strive upward. But shouldn't we clean up the mess from before before moving on?" 0

There was an underlying meaning in Wang Yue's words. I frowned and asked, "What do you mean? Is something wrong with Shuangshuang?" 0

Wang Yue sighed lightly, her eyes rolling around, and smiled, "Sister Zhuang is an adult; she knows how to distinguish between priorities and won't let emotions affect her interests. But our Shuangshuang is still a child and doesn't understand this. She thinks something is wrong with Sister Zhuang and has been crying and making a fuss, which has really given Lu Ge a headache." 0

Hearing Wang Yue say this, I felt no suspicion but also a sense of guilt. However, I knew what kind of child Lu Shuang was; she was inherently independent. If what Wang Yue said was true... 0

"Really? Lu Shuang cried? What about Lu Ming? Why didn't Lu Ming tell Lu Shuang or me?" 0

As soon as I finished speaking, a clear mockery flashed across Wang Yue's face, quickly disappearing. She said softly, "So you think I'm lying to you?" 0

I shook my head. "That's not what I meant." 0

It's just that if Lu Shuang really did cry, then my mistake would be too great. 0

"Regardless of how Lu Shuang is doing, Lu Ming hasn't said anything. Why are you here stirring up trouble? Did Lu Ming ask you to come? Does this father not know how to love his daughter that he needs you to come and seek justice for him?" 0

Miao Miao seemed quite agitated, and I quickly pulled her back, urging her to say less. 0

"Thank you for telling me all this. I will contact Lu Ming later to discuss the issue with Lu Shuang. You've really been a bother." 0

Wang Yue had been angry with me from the start, and I never intended to resolve it. Whether her informing me was out of goodwill or malice, I didn't want to dwell on it; I would ask Lu Ming first. 0

But Miao Miao was as annoyed with Wang Yue as Wang Yue was with me. She didn't consider Wang Yue's feelings at all and angrily insisted that she leave. Wang Yue pouted and really did walk away. 0

After Wang Yue left, I asked Miao Miao what was wrong. Miao Miao cursed a couple of times before responding. 0

"You can only listen to half of what Wang Yue says. Don't interact with her too much; she's manipulative, and you'll end up at a disadvantage." 0

"What happened? Do you have a grudge against her? Did she make you angry?" 0

"Not really." Miao Miao hesitated, "Just be cautious around her; she's not a good person. If she says anything heartfelt to you, don't take it to heart. Just let it go in one ear and out the other." 0

"What about Lu Shuang? I still need to clarify things first." The thought of my sudden departure affecting Lu Shuang made me uncomfortable. I hadn't considered the depth of the situation at the time; perhaps I had reassured myself too many times that Lu Shuang was an independent little girl, which made me forget to think about her feelings. 0

"Well, ask her. I'll go with you. Just in case it's a trick from Wang Yue, I can help keep an eye out." 0

Although Miao Miao didn't like Wang Yue, she cared for Lu Shuang and wouldn't ignore her just because of Wang Yue. Miao Miao made the call to Lu Ming, and after saying a few words, she hung up, looking at me with a complex expression. 0

"What’s wrong?" 0

"Little Shuang really did have some trouble, but don’t worry; it's all fine now. Lu Ming was away for a few days and hired a servant to take care of Lu Shuang. They might not have been familiar with each other and got separated. But Lu Shuang found her again; she cried for a bit and mentioned your name, but it wasn't as exaggerated as Wang Yue made it sound." 0

Wang Yue tried to make the situation seem dramatic, while Miao Miao downplayed it. Regardless, listening to the events made my heart race, especially during this chaotic time. If something had truly happened, what would we do? I quickly pulled her along, insisting we go see Lu Shuang. 0

"Are you really going?" 0

"Of course! We need to go now." Time was of the essence; I had to find out the truth quickly. 0
