Grandma patted her chest, looking anxious. I pretended to ask her, "Why doesn't the divine doctor come here? That place isn't exactly close."

We arrived at a secluded place that Miao Miao had arranged. It was a two-story house for rent near the countryside, simply furnished with some basic furniture. Grandma's smile widened as she stepped inside first, looking around.
A figure slowly emerged from within, his eyes gleaming as usual. He seemed deliberately unrestrained as he walked out confidently; he didn't look much like a doctor at all. If Miao Miao hadn't said he used to work in this field, I wouldn't have believed it.
"Ah! Divine doctor! We finally found you! I've brought my daughter-in-law over; her name is Zhuang Jun. Please take a look at her!" Grandma rarely showed such humility.
But Brother Sheng stood still, merely smiling slightly as if waiting for something.
Grandma understood and took out a thick envelope from her bag, handing it over to Brother Sheng.
I was shocked and instinctively grabbed my mother-in-law's arm. Was Brother Sheng planning to swallow us both?!
My mother-in-law was taken aback and urged me to let go, saying, "What are you doing? Let go, don't cause trouble!"

He led me into the room for a detailed examination. The process was very similar to what Dr. Li did, and even his words were almost identical.
"Old lady, let me put it this way: your daughter-in-law's body is fine, but the fetus is still unstable. There is a high possibility of miscarriage. My mother-in-law's face turned pale; she seemed unwilling to accept Brother Sheng's words. This kind of talk could be said by anyone; there was no need to call him in for it. The reason for seeking him out was simply because he could immediately provide her with professional knowledge and past medical experiences when she started to have doubts—things that were real and relatable.
"Old lady, you should understand what I'm saying. In my many years of practice, I've encountered patients like this before, but it's rare. Unfortunately, your family happened to be one of them."
My mother-in-law appeared increasingly unconvinced and began rambling about how she raised Wang Xu all by herself, boasting about how strong and excellent the Wang family genes were.
Brother Sheng's gaze turned cold as he snorted heavily, finally silencing her. He then spoke in an unfriendly tone: "If you don't believe me, there's no need to seek me out. I have other matters to attend to, so I won't see you out."
My mother-in-law immediately softened her stance and repeatedly explained that she didn't mean it that way: "No, no! Divine Doctor, please don't take it personally! I just... I just said it casually; I meant no offense."
"No, hurry up, hurry up." Brother Sheng made a gesture to drive her away, nearly scaring tears out of the old lady.

The old lady kept apologizing while Brother Sheng stood in front of her with his hands behind his back, looking arrogant as if he could truly bring my unborn child back to life.

Brother Sheng began to walk into the house, saying he would prepare some medicine for me to take home. After receiving a heavy bag of herbs, the old lady casually mentioned wanting the prescription. Brother Sheng became furious again and directly questioned her.
"You tell me, what is your purpose here? Are you just trying to trick me into giving you the prescription? You must have dragged a pregnant woman here to pretend to be your daughter-in-law! You're just here to scam me for the prescription!"
The old lady had no idea she had angered the divine doctor again. Perhaps in her eyes, only she could frequently lose her temper. Seeing Brother Sheng about to chase her away again, she cried out desperately, explaining that I was indeed her daughter-in-law and that she was truly my mother-in-law.

I was no longer surprised by how the old lady redirected her anger towards me as love for me. However, Brother Sheng suddenly used me as a point of contention against her—what did that mean? Was it a show of force? A gesture of goodwill?
In any case, I believed this wasn't arranged by Miao Miao; his actions made me feel even more uncertain.
After causing a commotion for over two hours here, my mother-in-law and I finally got the medicine we wanted—of course, without the prescription—but this already lifted her spirits significantly. She smiled widely and kept saying that the Wang Family had hope now and that we were saved. I smiled back at her without confirming anything.
She was happy now, but I knew that the higher she soared, the harder she would fall in the future. After returning home, my mother-in-law finally brought up Wang Xu.
"Ah, this family is falling apart. Fortunately, it can still be mended. Zhuang Jun, you should take your medicine first and on time. If it becomes troublesome, just come back home. I'll help you brew it. You know how Wang Xu is—sigh—he just got his health back and now he’s gone again. Is this reasonable?"
I was taken aback. "What do you mean? Are you saying Wang Xu just recovered from an injury? Was he beaten that badly?"

Not knowing the situation meant I had to force myself not to think about it for now. The key issue was how stable Brother Sheng was; would he turn against me again? If that possibility existed, what should I do?
To clarify things, I called Miao Miao. She clearly told me that there had been no arrangements regarding Brother Sheng's reactions. It seemed that my worries were not unique; others were concerned too.
