The argument outside had already turned into a battlefield filled with smoke, and the situation was about to escalate. It was hard not to believe that right outside, the two of us, powerless women, were about to confront Wang Xu and his mother.
However, seeing that time was running out, there was no need to waste time outside. After all, I held the upper hand now. With that thought in mind, I pulled Miao Miao and suggested we go inside first instead of wasting time with Wang Xu.

To save time, Miao Miao and I went in first, while Wang Xu and my mother-in-law followed later. After a short wait, we stood on opposite sides as Plaintiff and Defendant. I looked at Wang Xu, the man I once loved most; now I was competing with him for the interests that had once intertwined us.
Time passed much faster than I imagined. I saw Wang Xu's face shift from pride and confidence to panic and sadness in just a moment.
Even without any other involvement, just looking at Wang Xu's expression made me anticipate the final outcome.
I should win.
Wang Xu began to redden with embarrassment as he tried to justify his actions and make excuses for his dirty deeds. Watching him cry in court made me see pity reflected in others' eyes directed at me.
It felt as if they were asking why I married such a man. Indeed, why did I marry him and turn my life into chaos?
As we left, Miao Miao and I did not encounter Wang Xu or his mother directly. I didn't know how they chose to leave. In the car, Miao Miao excitedly talked about the day's events, saying that finally, evil people were getting their comeuppance. Yes, finally.
Finally, this day had come. Seeing Wang Xu's defeat brought closure.
"Now it's good, Zhuang Jun; you don't have to worry about anything else. The verdict will come down in about ten days. Let's see how Wang Xu will suffer then," she laughed.
Miao Miao naturally felt relieved too; our long battle was nearing its end. Not only I but everyone around us could relax a bit. Gu Xiang knew about my impending divorce and was happy for me. She invited me out that evening to celebrate.
When Miao Miao and I arrived at the venue, Gu Xiang and Wang Nan were already there. As I looked around, Gu Xiang comforted me: "Don't worry; it's just us today. Are you hungry? Let's get you something you love."
It can be said that it explained why Lu Ming wouldn't come over, and I breathed a sigh of relief. After sitting down, I waited for the meal.
Such gatherings are rare, allowing me to feel this relaxed. It was as if I was no longer sitting with them but existed in another world. I was very content with the current situation, even happier than I had imagined.
"Congratulations," Gu Xiang raised his glass, and I followed suit. He continued, "We all know that you have had a tough time lately, but soon, you will have a brand new life. At that time, you will have an even more wonderful life. I believe in you."
After clinking glasses with Gu Xiang, my eyes brimmed with tears of excitement. "Thank you, and thank you for all your help and care during this time. Without you all, the outcome might have been much worse."
No one can move forward completely alone; it would be extremely difficult. I firmly believe that if it weren't for Miao Miao and the people she introduced me to, I would have felt very passive and helpless.
"Don't say that; you deserve all of this. You are a kind girl; otherwise, you wouldn't push yourself to the brink. I believe you can do even better; your life will be even more exciting."
Accepting various blessings happily, I took a leave from Gu Xiang. The next morning, I returned home with bags full of things. When I entered the house, my parents were not there; my dad should be at work, and my mom was likely out buying groceries.
I went to the study to take care of my dad's plants and cleaned the birdcage. Looking at the well-groomed Budgerigar he raised, which I had never liked before, I surprisingly found it quite interesting now.
Until my mom came back and opened the door, looking surprised to see me. I smiled and said, "Mom, you're back! What did you buy?"
My mom paused for a moment and told me about some vegetables she had just bought. She mentioned that she didn't know I would come over, so she didn't buy much and wanted to go out for more. I stopped her: "It's okay, Mom. I've brought plenty of things over. Look, these are all your and Dad's favorites. You can choose what to eat today while I feed Dad's bird."
After waiting for about ten minutes, I walked out of the study and naturally took the groceries from her hands to continue cleaning them. My mom frowned with concern as she looked at me and couldn't help but ask.
"Zhuang Jun, how have you been lately? Are you doing well? How's your sleep? Is it any better?"
I smiled and replied, "Mom, I've gotten divorced."
My mom thought I meant giving up all my possessions in the divorce. She nodded without much expression on her face as I continued to explain: "I've gotten everything I'm supposed to have. In about ten days, the court will announce the verdict."
This made my mother show a look of suspicion on her face. "What does this mean? Didn't you say that Wang Xu's condition for the divorce was for you to give up everything?"
"Yes, but I found evidence proving that Wang Xu cheated, so the court will still grant me a share. Don't worry."
The joy on my mother's face grew stronger as she grasped my hand, repeatedly asking if it was true. Seeing her so happy lifted my spirits as well.
"Of course it's true. My friends are helping me, so it's been relatively easy. After this, I won't be starting from scratch; at least I'll have more confidence."
My mother happily contacted my father, insisting that he come home for lunch to hear the good news. I knew I had been worrying them lately, and I planned to use part of the money I would receive after the divorce to take them on a trip to relax before considering other matters.
When my father returned, he asked me multiple times if it was true. I nodded and shared some recent developments with them. My father's expression was serious as he listened intently until he finally let out a sigh of relief.
"This is good. If it can really be like this, that's great."
"Yes, finally, the wicked get their comeuppance. Wang Xu cheated and still wanted to take all the assets; that's just too much. But Zhuang Jun, nothing has happened on your side, right? You mentioned many friends are helping you; we should thank them."
I had already considered the concerns my parents had: "I know, Mom and Dad. This time it's really thanks to my friends' help; otherwise, I wouldn't have gotten this far. So I will definitely thank them properly later, so you can rest assured."
"Miao Miao, right?" My father recalled. "You should invite Miao Miao over for dinner so we can express our gratitude. This matter isn't just about you; don't skip this step."
I nodded. "Got it. I'll tell Miao Miao tomorrow to come over for dinner. But Dad, don't get too excited and scare her; Mom, you too."
"Okay, okay. We just want to invite her for a meal to show our appreciation; it won't be excessive, so don't worry. Also, regarding your mental health issues, we don't want to ask too often and make you anxious. Are you feeling better lately? Have you been sleeping well?"
I continued to tell them about working at Gu Xiang's place, mentioning how well she took care of me and how happy I was with my job. As I spoke about this, I suddenly thought of Prince Xuan. If not for that unexpected incident, I would say my job was truly perfect and fulfilling.
"Well, you really are lucky to have met good people. With this situation, we feel much more at ease," my father sighed.
My mom became curious when I mentioned Gu Xiang and kept asking me about him. Of course, I spoke highly of Gu Xiang since he is genuinely a good person.
"Is Dr. Gu still single? Does he have a girlfriend? You know your cousin hasn't found a boyfriend yet. If Dr. Gu doesn't mind, we could invite him over for dinner. I'll call your cousin over tomorrow too."
It seemed that my mom noticed I had truly let go of all my burdens, and during our casual chat, she even thought about setting up my cousin with Gu Xiang. I chuckled and told her she was overthinking it; after all, it wasn't right to push someone into a relationship right after they helped me.
I told Gu Xiang about this when I called him, and he became interested, asking for my cousin Yenfang's height, weight, and various standard measurements. When I revealed the truth to Gu Xiang, he fell silent for a moment.
"I think your cousin would be a good match for Prince Xuan. How about I bring Prince Xuan along when we come over for dinner tomorrow?"
I was surprised that Gu Xiang brought up Prince Xuan himself. "Why are you still hanging around that troublemaker? Or do you have feelings for Prince Xuan already?"
Gu Xiang sighed: "That's not fair to say. Since you left, Prince Xuan has been asking about you almost non-stop. I've realized his energy is quite overwhelming, and with my busy schedule, I can't take care of him properly. Only you can manage him."
I immediately dismissed Gu Xiang's comment: "What do you mean I can handle him? I can't at all! Didn't you see how he stressed me out? My face broke out in pimples because of him."
Just when I thought Gu Xiang would respond with something else, Prince Xuan's voice came through the phone: "You’re just being lazy and blaming me for your breakouts. When are you coming back? Aren't you afraid of getting your pay docked?"
