Rao Jie finally breathed a sigh of relief, feeling exhausted as she ate her breakfast. She vowed that from now on, no matter where Wu Rong collapsed, she would no longer meddle in his affairs.
However, in the days that followed, Rao Jie found her heart racing. She didn't know what had happened to Wu Rong; suddenly, his way of interacting with her had changed. During a period when he had kept a somewhat distant attitude towards her, now, for some reason, their accidental touches had increased, and it seemed that certain boundaries were becoming increasingly blurred.
Wu Rong was clearly someone who disliked others getting close to him, yet he was drawing closer to her. One time, after taking a shower, Rao Jie walked in just as he was coming out. Feeling awkward and wanting to leave, Wu Rong called out to her directly, asking her to help dry his hair!
Wasn't it inappropriate for someone to touch a man's head casually? Rao Jie found this request rather puzzling, but as she dried his hair, Wu Rong was focused on reviewing her exam materials, leaving her with no choice but to swallow her questions.
As these uncomfortable encounters increased, Rao Jie gradually became numb and accustomed to them.
Before she knew it, the end-of-term exams at school had arrived. After careful calculations, Rao Jie concluded that if she maintained her performance in other subjects and pushed her math score to the top of the class, she would be considered for the Graduate School Recommendation.
It would be a lie to say she wasn't nervous; before heading out for the exam, Rao Jie felt chaotic and flustered. Eating a breakfast that tasted strange, she noticed Wu Rong looking at her with concern as she struggled to eat. He spoke up, "What are you worried about?"
Rao Jie froze for a moment, her spoon stirring the porridge coming to a halt. "I... I'm worried about my math..."
Wu Rong's expression softened slightly as he replied, "You're worried about your math after I've spent nearly three months diligently teaching you? Are you doubting my skills or questioning my abilities?"
Rao Jie was taken aback and quickly shook her head. "Professor Wu is definitely fine; the problem lies only with me. I..."
"You have no problem!" Wu Rong suddenly interrupted.
Rao Jie stared at him in surprise. Wu Rong smiled—a smile that brought Rao Jie comfort and reassurance. "A student I personally taught can definitely handle this small exam. You already have that ability; I believe you can achieve full marks."
Looking at Wu Rong like this and listening to his firm and steady words, Rao Jie felt as if her heart had been struck heavily. The chaotic beating of her heart gradually calmed down, as if an endless confidence was surging within her.
That's right, she was a student personally taught by the genius mathematician Wu Rong. Such a small exam, such a minor situation, she could definitely handle it.
Wu Rong even said she had the ability to score full marks, so she surely could. Perhaps having been denied too many times during her studies by Wu Rong, suddenly receiving his affirmation made Rao Jie feel as if she had been enchanted; whatever Wu Rong said must be true.
After several ups and downs in her emotions, Rao Jie finally stabilized. She smiled at Wu Rong and expressed her gratitude once again, saying, "Thank you, Professor Wu."
"Go ahead and eat. Once you're done, I'll take you to school," Wu Rong replied, suppressing his expression as he continued eating the oddly flavored breakfast. Although it was strange, he wouldn't waste it.
Rao Jie was taken aback and asked in return, "Aren't you free today? Why are you still going to school?"
Wu Rong looked up speechlessly and said, "I just said I would take you."
