Rao Jie suddenly felt her heart racing again, which had finally calmed down.
After dinner, Wu Rong personally took her to school. Rao Jie never expected to have the honor of making Wu Rong do something for her. In her excitement, she felt even more determined not to let Wu Rong down.
The two-hour exam was the math paper that had once posed the greatest challenge for Rao Jie. This time, however, it presented no obstacles; she breezed through it until the last question, which began to trouble her. Even when faced with difficulty, Rao Jie managed to solve it.
Once she finished, Rao Jie felt invigorated. She couldn't help but check her answers again. Although she wasn't usually careless, this time she chose to be extra cautious. After reviewing everything, she felt there was nothing left to scrutinize. She had a strong premonition that she had answered every question correctly.
At that moment, there were still half an hour left before the exam ended. During math exams, no one ever submitted their papers early because time was always too tight. Yet Rao Jie could hardly contain her excitement; she wanted to rush home and tell Wu Rong that she felt the exam went smoothly and that she truly believed she had made significant progress.
While studying before, she hadn't felt much, but sitting in the exam room felt like the bountiful harvest of autumn. Unable to sit still any longer, Rao Jie decided to submit her paper early.
Not only did the invigilator look stunned, but even the other students couldn't help but stop writing and look up at Rao Jie. Some speculated whether she had given up, while others sensed that Rao Jie was different now.
Jiang Chuchu was in the same exam room as Rao Jie. Her own paper was still unfinished, but when she saw Rao Jie’s face beaming with happiness, a wave of panic washed over her. She felt as if she might lose.
When a person's heart is unsettled, it becomes impossible to focus on answering questions. Rao Jie knew many eyes were on her; at that moment, her feelings were a mix of nervousness and excitement, as if she were finally able to breathe freely after a long time.
But this feeling was also quite amusing; after handing in her exam paper, she hurried outside. Just as she was about to turn on her phone, someone suddenly blocked her way.
Rao Jie looked up and was surprised to see Bao Ming.
"You’re out? Did you finish? Or did you give up? I heard you were planning to snatch Chuchu's Graduate School Recommendation spot," he said.
Rao Jie’s expression darkened. Ignoring her phone, she quickly slung her backpack over her shoulder and tried to sidestep Bao Ming to leave.
However, Bao Ming followed her closely and blocked her again.
"Why do you always avoid me? Can’t we even be friends after breaking up? I'm just concerned about you," he insisted.
Rao Jie felt her good mood slipping away. She looked up at Bao Ming with cold eyes and said, "What do you want? Are you sick? We’ve been done for a while now. Did you forget what I said when we broke up? Since you're dating Jiang Chuchu, just focus on her! Why do you keep bothering me? What are you even thinking? Besides, my choices have nothing to do with you!"
Rao Jie wasn’t someone who got angry easily, but Bao Ming had completely pushed her buttons.
Bao Ming was taken aback by her words. The attitude and expression Rao Jie had towards him felt so foreign that he could hardly comprehend it. He felt a sharp pain in his heart.
Unable to help himself, he stepped closer to Rao Jie, but she recoiled as if he were something filthy, eyeing him warily.
Bao Ming felt a surge of anger; it was as if something that once belonged to him had slipped out of his grasp. A voice in his mind screamed that Rao Jie was his.
