Chapter Twelve: Reeds and Rushes
The fork did not stab Junxi's face because Zhou Xuanyu rushed over to block it for her, but the Red-Dressed Woman swiftly turned her hand, and the fork still pierced Junxi's wrist.
"Are you done causing trouble?" Zhou Ziyan grabbed the Red-Dressed Woman's hand and shook it forcefully, knocking the fork away from her grip. "Get out of here!"
Zhou Xuanyu turned and held Junxi's hand in the same manner, but his movements were much gentler than Zhou Ziyan's roughness. He lowered his head, staring at the three blood marks on Junxi's wrist left by the fork.
"Sister!" Wen Junxuan came out of the restroom just in time to witness this scene, his eyes turning crimson with rage as he wished he could rush out and tear apart that woman in red.
"I'm fine," she reassured her brother, pulling her hand back to hide it behind her.
"Let's go to the hospital," Zhou Xuanyu said firmly.
"There's no need to make such a fuss." Junxi glanced at her wound; its severity was hard to determine, but it certainly hurt deeply at that moment.
Faced with Junxi's calm demeanor, Zhou Xuanyu hesitated for a few seconds but insisted, "We need to go to the hospital."
"Sister, at least you should get your wound treated," Wen Junxuan chimed in.
Junxi saw the expression on Wen Junxuan's face that screamed "I won't be at ease unless you go to the hospital," and she lost her resolve.
"But you have class early tomorrow morning, and it's so late..."
“Water Spirit. Please take him home,” Zhou Xuanyu said, handing his car keys to the Infant Water Spirit, who had been sitting quietly by.
The Infant Water Spirit's big eyes sparkled with surprise at Zhou Xuanyu's sudden assignment of such a task. Nevertheless, she stood up.
“Alright, I’ll do it! My little Lei Feng.”
The latter part of her statement clearly hinted at a sense of ownership.
Junxi lowered his head.
The Infant Water Spirit turned to Jun Xuan and said, “Come on, little brother, I’ll take you back.”
After all, she was a beautiful star. Just moments ago, she had firmly declared that she didn’t like Wen Junxuan, yet he blushed instantly. He glanced at Junxi, and once she nodded, he obediently followed her out.
“Can we go to the hospital now?”
Zhou Xuanyu’s patience seemed to have run out as he led the way, with Junxi trailing behind him.
His long legs took large strides, quickly leaving her far behind. When he turned around and noticed she wasn’t keeping up, his expression grew colder.
A woman in a red dress was still causing a scene at the entrance with Zhou Ziyan. As Junxi passed by, the commotion had already drawn quite a crowd. Just as Jun Xuan often said, “Zhou Ziyan is just a magnet for trouble.”
Junxi usually kept her distance from him, always wary of situations like today. Yet despite her precautions day and night, she still fell into the trap.
Without a car, they took a taxi to the hospital.
The pain from the wound became increasingly clear after the initial shock wore off. Junxi pressed on his arm in silence, while Zhou Xuanyu, usually quiet, occasionally urged the driver to go faster.
The hospital was still crowded in the evening, and Zhou Xuanyu headed straight for the emergency desk.
"What are you doing?" Junxi grabbed her arm.
"Registering for emergency care."
"You're going to register for an emergency over such a small injury? Aren't you just looking for trouble?"
Junxi pulled him toward the regular registration desk.
There were even more people waiting at the regular registration desk. The two of them stood shoulder to shoulder at the end of the line, inching forward slowly. The blood on her hand had already dried into a stain; despite the pain, she knew it wasn't serious enough to warrant a trip to the hospital.
"Junxi, you've changed a lot."
