Chapter Seventeen: Reeds and Rushes 0

Junxi pondered for a moment. 0

"Go ahead, don't hold back on my account," Zhou Ziyan added. 0

"Don't flatter yourself. I'm just thinking about how to eat you into poverty to make up for the blood I shed yesterday." 0

Zhou Ziyan laughed heartily from the passenger seat, "Alright, alright, a lavish feast is just a matter of words. If I end up broke, at least I still have my uncle." 0

Zhou Xuanyu remained silent, patiently waiting for her. 0

"I heard the Peking Cuisine in Ming District is quite good. Let's go there," Junxi suddenly suggested. 0

This decision seemed a bit absurd and impulsive. Ming District was far from Hengfu Group, and even with smooth traffic, it would take at least half an hour to get there. If they hit traffic, the round trip would cut into her lunch break. 0

As she regained her composure and considered retracting her suggestion, she heard Zhou Xuanyu decisively say, "Sounds good." 0

The Peking Cuisine in Ming District was authentic and generous in portion sizes. While Junxi stepped away to use the restroom, Zhou Ziyan had already ordered a table full of dishes. 0

Peking Duck, Lamb Spine, Three Cup Chicken, Boiled Three Kingdoms, Crispy Fried Fish... along with desserts that catered to his own preferences like Sugar Ears, Donkey Roll, and Sugar Fire Burn... 0

"Come here." Zhou Ziyan pulled out a chair for her. 0

Junxi glanced around, but Zhou Xuanyu was nowhere to be seen. 0

"Stop looking; he's outside on the phone. I could tell it was a woman just by listening—there's definitely something fishy going on." Zhou Ziyan said gossipingly, "Don't let his icy demeanor fool you; he's actually quite popular with the ladies." 0

"Can he be more popular than you?" Junxi shot him a glare and shook her arm, which was wrapped in bandages, reminding him of the 'tragedy' that had happened yesterday. 0

Zhou Ziyan realized he was in the wrong and immediately stood up to adjust her chair and move the utensils, being excessively flattering. 0

Just then, Zhou Xuanyu walked in. Seeing the scene, he casually complimented, "Zhou Ziyan's table manners are getting better and better." 0

Zhou Ziyan shamelessly replied, "Good table manners are essential for attracting girls; it's wisdom passed down from our ancestors." 0

Junxi thought to herself, which ancestor had such ridiculous wisdom? But then she reconsidered; Zhou Ziyan himself was like an ancestor. 0

Zhou Xuanyu put down his phone and sat down next to Junxi. "Isn't yesterday's incident enough of a lesson? You need to tone it down." 0

"Be pure and simple like you, Uncle?" 0

"…" 0

"Hey. Uncle, don't take this the wrong way, but I actually think that Infant Water Spirit is pretty good. She's gentle and well-mannered, unlike Wen Junxi…" 0

"What’s wrong with me?" 0

Junxi jumped up, feeling annoyed by Zhou Ziyan's meaningful pause. 0

"What’s wrong with you? We all know about your little temper." Zhou Ziyan paused again, picking up a crispy roasted duck leg and placing it in Junxi's bowl. "Uncle, do you remember the time she got into a huge fight with me over a chicken leg?" 0

Zhou Xuanyu didn’t even look up. "I remember it differently; it was you who got into a fight with her over a chicken leg." 0

Junxi felt a rush of satisfaction and shot a triumphant glance at Zhou Ziyan. 0

Zhou Ziyan pouted. "Does it make a difference? Either way, she fought with me, and she's just a girl..." 0

He paused meaningfully again, but Junxi found herself at a loss for words. 0

Thinking back, she realized she couldn't even count on one hand the number of times she had fought with Zhou Ziyan. 0

But that particular incident was indeed especially memorable. 0
