Chapter Fifty: The Mountain Has Trees 0

It was Xue Waiwai who had returned. 0

Xue Waiwai came back excitedly with a lot of takeout, eager to have a "last supper" with Junxi. She jogged over and, as soon as she entered, kicked over a box at the door, spilling its contents everywhere. 0

"Hey!" Junxi exclaimed, quickly telling Zhou Ziyan on the phone, "Hang up, hang up!" 0

Junxi rushed over as fast as she could, but Xue Waiwai had already picked up the largest item. 0

It was a notebook, pure and white like a snow lotus, held delicately in her hands as if afraid to disturb the secrets within. 0

"Wow, Wen Junxi, what era are we in? You still keep a diary?" 0

"Don't look!" Junxi snatched it away. 0

Xue Waiwai laughed heartily while clearing off the small table in the dormitory. She raised an eyebrow at Junxi and said, "Come on, let's eat first. Afterward, you need to tell me all about that special someone of yours who rides on clouds and rainbows. What makes him so great?" 0

Xue Waiwai emphasized the word "great," making Junxi shiver involuntarily. Suddenly, she remembered the lyrics of a song: "Some people are hard to explain why they're good, but no one can replace them." 0

Zhou Xuanyu's unexplainable goodness stemmed from the fact that he was good in every way. Thus, her love subtly took root within her like a seed embedded in her flesh and blood. Yet that seed had not truly sprouted or bloomed; it withered away inside her body instead. 0

Everything happened in that winter... 0

That year, in the depths of winter, heavy snow fell. The entire Qingcheng was wrapped in a silver coat, silent and still. She had a small quarrel with her father over a trivial matter. The next day, she packed her bags and flew to France. 0

When she left, she told them she was going to Chamonix to ski. Her mother disapproved, arguing that there was plenty of snow here, so why travel so far? What if something happened? 0

Junxi was unwilling to listen; she even thought maliciously that it would be better if something did happen, just to make that old man, who favored sons over daughters, regret it. 0

Chamonix is the world's center for mountain sports, boasting the longest ski slopes in the world. There were many skilled skiers on the slopes, and she was the only one who lacked any professional experience aside from her gear. 0

At first, things went relatively well; at least it was better than her performance at the one-on-one ski lessons back in Qingcheng, where the coach frequently shook his head in disappointment. 0

She raced down the slopes, gradually drifting away from the crowd. When she finally came to her senses, she realized she had no idea which trail she had turned onto. All around her was a vast expanse of white snow; she couldn't tell east from west or north from south, let alone find her way back. 0

Just as she felt helpless, her phone buzzed in her pocket as if it had received a telepathic signal. 0

It was her mother. The woman had thought long and hard and still couldn't shake off her worries about her daughter. She rambled on about how there shouldn't be any overnight grudges between a father and daughter and how worried her father was about her traveling so far alone... Her mother's voice echoed across the vast Snowfield; it sounded somewhat nagging, yet it made Junxi's eyes turn red. 0

"Mom, I'm lost..." 0

As soon as she spoke those words, the phone died. The light on the screen suddenly dimmed, leaving her feeling despondent. 0

She stood there for a while but didn't see anyone coming her way. Meanwhile, snow began to fall gently from the sky, tiny flakes covering her completely. 0

She fished a coin out of her pocket, deciding to leave it to fate. However, the coin traced a parabolic arc through the air and landed in the snow, disappearing without a trace. 0

It dawned on her that the heavens had never intended to make things easy for her, so why would they offer any guidance now? 0

Relying on her sixth sense, she randomly chose a direction and began to slide back. 0

The snow fell heavier, and she felt increasingly exhausted. Eventually, she simply tossed aside all her skiing gear. Walking back on foot was still a struggle. 0

She knew her stamina was nearing its limit. 0

Surrounded by the icy wilderness, she was drenched in sweat despite the cold. Not only was she tired, but she was also scared. 0

As darkness fell, she finally stopped walking and collapsed to the ground, like a prisoner nearing the end of their sentence, reflecting on her life amidst the cold and emptiness. 0

Wen Junxi feared nothing in this world, except for one thing. 0

She thought that if heaven allowed that person to appear before her at this moment, she would definitely tell him that she liked him... 0

Suddenly, a helicopter appeared against the gray sky. 0
