As Little Muzi was about to enter the Joyful Inn, he quickly grabbed Le Yao Yao's arm, his face flushed with embarrassment.
"Xiaoyaozi, this is a big restaurant; the food inside must be very expensive. Let's just go to a small stall and have some wontons instead..."
Little Muzi spoke in a hushed tone, as if afraid someone might overhear him.
It was no wonder he felt this way. Coming from a poor family with several younger siblings to support, his parents could barely manage, which was why they had sold him off for money to help raise the others.
In contrast, Le Yao Yao had an ordinary appearance and average academic performance before the twenty-first century, but her family background was anything but ordinary. They were nouveau riche, with mountains of gold and silver.
However, her father worried that she might turn into one of those spoiled rich kids, so he only gave her an allowance similar to that of an average family. This was why Le Yao Yao had experienced some financial struggles during her school years.
Nevertheless, as a young lady from a wealthy family, she could still afford a meal.
Seeing Little Muzi's face filled with shame and reluctance to speak loudly stirred a sense of compassion within her.
After all, Little Muzi was the person who had treated her best since she arrived here, and she had long regarded him as family and a friend.
Thus, Le Yao Yao truly wanted to give Little Muzi the best!
Although their current circumstances were not ideal, treating him to a meal was certainly within reach!
With this thought in mind, Le Yao Yao pulled Little Muzi closer and said.
"What kind of wontons should we eat? Since we rarely go out, we should definitely indulge in something good!"
With that, Le Yao Yao pulled the shy Little Muzi along and headed into the Joyful Inn.
Although the Joyful Inn was not located in the most prosperous area of Capital City, it was bustling with business, filled with patrons and never a vacant seat.
Once inside, the sharp-eyed waiter immediately welcomed them and led them to a table by the window on the second floor.
The view from their table was excellent; they could see the entire lobby below and take in the sights outside the window.
Since her purse was rather light, Le Yao Yao made sure to inquire about the prices of each dish she ordered.
She had also learned from Little Muzi that one or two silver coins were equivalent to a thousand wen.
Though the Joyful Inn was elegantly decorated, the prices of the dishes were quite reasonable.
After all, it catered to the general public, so its menu offered a range of dishes from simple to more elaborate.
After selecting a few dishes that were decent and popular among them, Le Yao Yao estimated that this meal would cost around two hundred wen, which was acceptable. She then placed her order with the waiter and sat with Little Muzi, sipping tea while waiting for their food to arrive, all the while observing their surroundings.
It was noon, yet every table in the inn was occupied. Several waiters, with towels draped over their shoulders and water pots in hand, hurriedly moved about, busy with their tasks!
Le Yao Yao turned her beautiful eyes toward the bustling street outside.
It was April, a time when the weather was neither too hot nor too cold, making it extremely comfortable. As a result, many people chose to go out shopping and enjoying themselves.
Looking around, the streets were bustling with people, jostling against one another, laughter and shouts filling the air, painting a vivid picture of the myriad aspects of life.
Moreover, Le Yao Yao noticed that this Celestial Yuan Dynasty was not as conservative as the ancient Qing Dynasty; it bore a resemblance to the openness of the Tang Dynasty.
Especially those delicate young ladies took advantage of the mild weather to shed their heavy winter coats and donned refreshing dresses. They swayed their slender waists on the streets, catching the eyes of young gentlemen who couldn't help but gaze at them with longing.
