Alan stared at the control panel intently, took a deep breath, and said solemnly, "I will try to restart the circuit breaker, but it may take some time. Kevin, Mary, could you please help me keep watch around us?"
After speaking, he took a flashlight out of his backpack and handed it to Kevin. In the dim emergency lighting, Alan gently toggled some switches on the control panel, attempting to find a way to restart the power supply.
Kevin gripped the axe in his hand, his eyes determined. Meanwhile, Mary tightly held her bow, gently pulling it taut, ready to shoot at any moment. The two stood back to back on either side of Alan, vigilantly scanning their surroundings.
Before long, a low, mournful wail quickly pierced the silence, and then the dog-like humanoid creature reappeared. Its body flickered in the darkness, but its glowing eyes were fixed on them. This time, it didn't just dart past them as before; instead, it chose to continuously circle around them, as if waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
Mary's breathing quickened, "It's back again! Kevin, we must stop it."
Kevin gripped the axe tightly, saying, "Don't be afraid, as long as Alan restores the power, we have a chance."
Alan tried hard to stay calm, not letting himself be disturbed by the external crisis, and continued to operate the control panel quickly. He knew that every second could be a matter of life and death for the three of them.
When the monster accelerated towards Kevin, the whole air seemed to freeze. The flashlight's beam shone on its black long hair, making every strand clearly visible. The hair swayed like black snakes, as if a monster crawling out of hell.
Kevin was able to clearly see the details of the creature's face. Its facial skin presented a sickly pallor, filled with the breath of death. The pair of pallid eyeballs seemed to have lost their life, yet they emitted a malicious gleam, as if wanting to devour his soul. Its enormous mouth, like a bottomless abyss, was filled with sharp teeth, as if it could tear everything apart at any moment.
But what was most terrifying was its skin. It was covered with sores, each one red, swollen, and inflamed, oozing thick yellow fluid from the center, constantly dripping onto the ground, emitting an unsettling sound. Every drop made Mary's heart race.
"Dear God..." Mary whispered, her eyes filled with disbelief and fear as she tightened her grip on the bow and arrow, stepping back slightly.
Kevin stared at the creature, trying not to be intimidated by its appearance. He tightly held onto his axe, took a deep breath, and tried to steady his heartbeat.
Alan at this moment felt the tense atmosphere outside, and he knew he had to speed up. His hands swiftly operated in the dim light, trying to find the problem with the circuit breaker. At the same time, he silently prayed, hoping to restore power soon and escape from this terrifying place.
The monster's screams echoed in the dim tunnel, as if bursting out from the oldest of nightmares. The sharp cries seemed filled with extreme dissatisfaction and madness, making one's scalp tingle. Within this sound, there was both anger and pain, as if the monster was driven by some unspeakable force.
Kevin felt its attack, his heart pounding violently like thunder, resonating like war drums. Seeing it swiftly pounce, Kevin quickly raised the axe in his hand, holding it high above his head, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. As the monster was about to reach him, Kevin swung the axe with all his might. The blade of the axe flashed with a cold light, hitting the monster's side. Black liquid sprayed from the wound, emitting a nauseating stench.
But the monster seemed completely unaffected by this injury. It only briefly stepped back, then opened its bloodthirsty mouth again, its two eyes filled with a red rage. Kevin tried to dodge, but this time he was not successful. The monster's weight and force exceeded his expectations, knocking him to the ground, his back hitting the ground heavily, leaving him almost breathless.
Lost in the darkness without the light of a flashlight, Kevin could only feel the monster's breath getting closer and closer, accompanied by its sharp claws and teeth. Gripping the handle of the axe, he felt its cold hardness and weight. He attempted to make a final stand with the axe, aiming for the most lethal parts of the monster.
In the tense close combat, Kevin observed a shocking scene: the monster's limbs, joints, and movements were remarkably similar to those of a human. Some of its actions even reminded him of people he knew, which made him even more terrified. He found it hard to believe that the creature before him could have once been human.
Kevin tried to concentrate and used the axe to block the monster's attacks. He could feel the immense force of the monster, and each attack left him feeling bewildered.
In the intense struggle between the monster and Kevin, he inevitably got splattered with the monster's saliva and the black liquid on its hands. The moment the liquid touched his skin, it released a strong, putrid odor. This smell not only made him nauseous but also accompanied a burning sensation, as if it were corrosive acid. Kevin struggled to endure the pain, but his face involuntarily contorted, and tears streamed down.
Mary stood aside, tightly gripping her bow and arrow, her eyes filled with fear and anxiety. She watched the struggle between the two, and every time Kevin was hit or attacked by the monster, her heart tightened. She knew she had to take action, but she was also afraid of accidentally hitting Kevin. In this tense moment, her hands trembled slightly as she tried to find the best shooting angle, but she couldn't find an opportunity due to the close distance between Kevin and the monster.
Mary took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. She told herself that she couldn't just stand here and do nothing. She had to help Kevin; she had to find a way.
