I felt weak and unable to stand, as a large figure hoisted me onto his shoulder and rushed into the jungle. The branches and thorns of the underbrush scratched my face painfully. With each jolt of his movements, I struggled to catch my breath. 0

Time passed slowly, and the person carrying me began to breathe heavily, his steps growing more unsteady. Who was he? Why was he saving me? Was this truly a rescue, or was it a case of black market dealings, sending me to another Zone? Why had my brother, Xiaohao, run away? Where was my husband? Why couldn’t I reach him on the phone? 0

Suddenly, the man beneath me lost his footing, and I felt myself falling along with him. In my panic, I fainted again. 0

When I woke up, everything around me was white. A gentle nurse checking my IV spoke softly, “You’re physically fine; it’s just shock. You’ll be okay after a couple of days of rest.” 0

“Where am I? Who brought me here?” 0

“You’re in Lincang. I’m not sure who brought you.” 0

Oh heavens, had I really returned from that place of horrors back to my home country? I borrowed the nurse's phone to call my husband. The call connected, but there was silence on the other end. 0

“Honey, it’s me!” 0

All I could hear was faint breathing. 0

“Honey, I escaped! Where are you? Why aren’t you speaking? I’m scared!” 0

“Is it really you, Sis?” It was Xiaohao ’s voice. 0

“Why do you have my husband’s phone? Where is he?” 0

“Don’t mention him! This is all a trap set by someone named Qin. He pretended something happened to you here and came to sell you off to Myanmar's Northern Region!” 0

“That’s impossible! My husband would never harm me!” 0

“Sis, you have to believe me. I may have been foolish before, but I’m still your little brother. How could I ever lie to you? Where are you now? I’ll come find you right away!” 0

The door to the hospital room was knocked on, and two familiar faces made me burst into tears instantly. 0

Director Jia Huairen and colleague Jiang Xiaoli walked in carrying fruit. 0

"I was almost scared to death!" I cried out, burying my face in Jiang Xiaoli's arms. 0

She patted my shoulder, saying, "It's okay, it's all over now!" 0

"That day when Xiao Jiang and I took you to the hospital, I went to register while Xiao Jiang went to the restroom, and then you just disappeared," Jia Huairen said, filled with worry. 0

Jia Huairen mentioned that the surveillance showed two men taking me away. Who were they? Were they the ones who snatched me from that man? And who brought me to Myanmar's Northern Region? 0

"We should head back to Jiangcheng as soon as possible!" Jiang Xiaoli said, still shaken. 0

I hesitated, "Should we wait for my brother?" 0

Xiaohao looked much thinner, with scars etched across his face. 0

"Sis, I'm scared. Let's get out of here quickly!" 0

"Your brother-in-law hasn't contacted us yet!" 0

"Isn't it enough that he got you into this mess? Do you really think he would dare to see you again?" Xiaohao said indignantly. 0

Could my husband really be the one who harmed me? 0

Jia Huairen and Xiaohao helped me with the discharge procedures. 0

"Let's go to the train station first, take a train to Kunming, and then fly from Kunming to Jiangcheng," Jia Huairen arranged our itinerary. 0

"Don't think about anything right now; just rest well," Xiaohao noticed my inner turmoil. 0

"Sister Jiang, your lips look dry; have some water," Jiang Xiaoli turned around from the passenger seat and handed me a bottle of water. 0

Doesn't this scene feel a bit familiar? 0

After taking a couple of sips, drowsiness washed over me, and I unconsciously closed my eyes. 0

"Where are we? Aren't we supposed to be going to the train station?" I asked the others. 0

We had gotten out of a taxi on a remote path surrounded by dense jungle, and I felt a wave of fear wash over me. 0

No one responded to me as Jia Huairen began making a phone call: "We've arrived! Her biological brother is with us; there shouldn't be any problems!" 0

"Who are you...?" I seemed to understand a bit. 0

The taxi driver chimed in, "You'll find out soon enough!" 0

A rustling sound came from the jungle, and two familiar figures emerged—one was a Bearded Man, and the other was wearing a large mask and a baseball cap. 0

I gasped; who on earth were they? 0

"Don't come any closer!" 0

Xiaohao suddenly pressed a sharp knife against me, hiding behind me as he questioned the two men in front of us, "Are you human or ghost?" 0

"Xiao Jiang, what are you doing?" Jia Huairen shouted angrily. 0

"But they aren't..." Xiaohao's lips trembled. He turned to me fiercely, "Sister, the one in the baseball cap is that Qin you've been thinking about! He wants to take you over there!" 0

How could this be possible? 0

The person in the baseball cap was much more robust than Qin Jian. 0

Last time, he had clearly saved me; how could he possibly be here to take me away now? 0

"What nonsense are you talking? You were the ones who brought me here!" I struggled with all my might. 0

As the cap was removed and the mask taken off... Oh my God, it really was my husband, Qin Jian. 0

"Sister, now do you believe it?" 0

Qin Jian glared at Xiaohao. "What are you doing here?" 0

"We... we came here to meet a friend. What business is it of yours?" 0

"Is your friend one of them?" The Bearded Man lifted a branch that was blocking a hollow in the ground, revealing two people tied up like zongzi, one of whom was Ma Gan. 0

"You... you guys..." Jia Huairen was also stunned. 0

Qin Jian stepped closer, his expression one I had never seen before—fierce and ruthless. "Let go of your sister!" 0

"If you take another step closer, I'll stab her!" 0

Is this really my little brother? 0
