Xu Nuan was momentarily lost in thought as the moonlight poured down, illuminating parts of her surroundings and bringing clarity to her mind. She understood now.
She had brushed past Gu Ze, and the almost surreal technology had tormented her. It was precisely because of the game's tricks that she had grown increasingly suspicious, ultimately falling into a trap.
What did Gu Ze see?
What did he think when he realized she hadn’t come over?
Though it pained her, there was still a chance for redemption. As long as she was alive and Gu Ze was alive, everything could be salvaged.
"So what?"
Xu Nuan's gaze burned fiercely into He Min's eyes, the intensity of her stare scorching He Min's vision and twisting her heart further.
"He will definitely find me. I will never doubt that."
"Heh."
He Min momentarily froze before anger surged within her. The hand gripping Xu Nuan's neck tightened. In that moment, she forgot the man's orders to keep Xu Nuan alive and extract secrets from her. She was selfish, surviving under that man's command primarily for her own sake. Otherwise, she could have easily taken Xu Nuan away from this place instead of trying to seize the Tail Ring or venting her anger.
Everyone has a selfish side, but if one fails to recognize the right circumstances, the outcome is bound to be unsatisfactory. By then, it would be too late; everyone must take responsibility for their own lives.
"To survive and return, unless he has the means to do so."
He Min wore a contemplative expression that chilled Xu Nuan's heart even more. When they interacted normally, there seemed to be no issues between them, but now that they stood on opposing sides, Xu Nuan found herself unable to endure even for a second.

Her eyes were filled with determination. What had been uncertain just moments ago erupted upon hearing news of Gu Ze.
Gu Ze was different; he was more important than her own life. If entering the game was to confront Qin Yaojie for an explanation and continuing after learning the truth was for revenge on her parents, now the only reason left for her to survive was Gu Ze.
For Gu Ze, such a reason felt too heavy. Xu Nuan herself felt uneasy, yet Gu Ze felt honored. That person wished to bear the weight of their own life; it was a sweet burden.
If Gu Ze could be so calm, how could she possibly lose?

As she snatched the dagger from He Min's hand and swung it back, Xu Nuan kept her gaze fixed on He Min's eyes.
In an instant, those eyes lost their brilliance, only to regain clarity moments later as He Min urgently pressed Xu Nuan down to the ground, forgetting that her ultimate mission was to take Xu Nuan away.
Panic appeared on He Min's face. It was only then that she realized Xu Nuan was stalling for time. She had always considered herself smarter than Xu Nuan, more skilled, more adaptable, and even better looking. Yet, she lived a more miserable life than Xu Nuan. Unlike Gu Ze, she had no one to protect her; she had sacrificed everything for mere survival, and she couldn't bear to let go.
What she never expected was that there were those willing to protect her, but she had abandoned them, severing even her last ties to the world.
The person she envied, Deng Yinyin, had also given up; her situation wasn't any better.
Only Xu Nuan—Xu Nuan timely grasped Gu Ze's hand, and that moment shaped who she was today.
Seeing He Min about to flee, Xu Nuan rolled over and half-crouched on the ground, grabbing He Min's leg in an attempt to use it as leverage to stand up.
If she waited a little longer, Gu Ze would arrive. She believed this wholeheartedly. She wanted to create an opportunity for Gu Ze, and that was the only thing she could do now.
In her heart, she hoped that Gu Ze was well-prepared. Gu Ze was not like her; he would not be deceived by He Min's appearance. Chi Xiaoming and Xu Hang were also on guard against He Min. Gu Ze would be fine, and so would everyone else.

Xu Nuan quickly tried to get up but failed due to the pain in her left leg.
Before she could even pound the ground in frustration, someone rushed over and picked her up.
"Warm!"
The familiar voice, the familiar warmth, Xu Nuan suddenly turned around and embraced Gu Ze tightly.
It was a lie that she wasn't affected by He Min's words; it was also a lie that she wouldn't worry about Gu Ze. Trust and worry had never been contradictory.
In that moment, she had no desire to chase after He Min. She had already foreseen He Min's fate. That person's cruelty far surpassed Zhang Xiao's. If Zhang Xiao could still allow He Min to live, this person would show no mercy, especially now that He Min had prematurely revealed her identity.
