Chapter 1 Three Transformation Cultivation Pill 0

Ji Zichen changed into his clothes, donned his prayer beads, and strapped on the tightly wrapped Demon-Slaying Sword. At that moment, he felt as if he had come back to life. Outside the gate of the Private Residence, two soldiers on guard noticed a shadow slowly approaching along the dimly lit street. One soldier, alert, placed his hand on the hilt of his sword and stepped forward, raising his voice to shout, "Who goes there!" 0

The figure did not respond but continued to approach the gate step by step. The soldier unsheathed his long sword with a clang and shouted sternly, "Get lost!" 0

As the shadow emerged from the darkness, its true form was revealed, causing both soldiers to gasp in shock. "What kind of monster is this!" 0

It was a Night Demon—its body emaciated, indistinguishable between male and female, rotting all over. Its mouth was half the size of its face, with sharp teeth like a shark's. One soldier suddenly shouted, "Quick! Go report to the general!" 0

"Yes!" The other soldier rushed inside. 0

Outside the gate, the soldier brandished his sword and slashed at the Night Demon’s neck. The blade sank deep into its flesh without any blood spraying out; it got stuck in its neck. The soldier's expression changed suddenly as the Night Demon reached out with both hands, grabbing him by the collar and dragging him toward its mouth, where it bit into the soldier's cheek, tearing it apart. 0

The soldier's screams echoed, alarming those inside the residence. Xiang Yan heard the cries and abruptly stood up from his chair as shouts of battle erupted in the courtyard. 0

The soldier who had rushed inside came back to the hall and urgently reported, "General! We must flee! A monster has appeared!" 0

No sooner had he finished speaking than another Night Demon lunged at him from behind, sinking its teeth into his neck. Blood sprayed out like a fountain, splattering against the doorframe. 0

A commanding officer was furious; he drew his sword and swung it down at the Night Demon’s head. "How dare you come here to commit murder!" 0

Seeing his sharp sword penetrate the skull of the Night Demon without eliciting any pain from it, the creature let out a horrifying wail. The sword lodged deep within its head as it burst into the hall. The officer stumbled back in shock. Hearing the commotion from within, Ji Zichen rushed into the hall. Upon seeing the Night Demon, he kicked it out of the hall and shouted, "General! Take your men and leave!" 0

Xiang Yan was taken aback. "How could there be monsters in the city?" 0

Ji Zichen's expression turned grave. "Of course someone brought them in. It seems someone at Corner Lodge finds you troublesome." 0

Xiang Yan's face darkened as he glanced at Ji Zichen. "You think too highly of me! A mere monster is not enough to make me flee!" 0

Ji Zichen shouted angrily, "The Night Demons are controlled by the Demon Queen. If we don't kill the Demon Queen, they won't fear blades or guns." 0

Xiang Yan stepped outside, his face grim. He saw that the Night Demon previously kicked away by Ji Zichen was gnawing on a soldier's corpse. The courtyard outside was already filled with no less than a hundred Night Demons. 0

The soldiers inside the courtyard were fighting against the Night Demons. 0

How could flesh-and-blood soldiers stand against the invulnerable Night Demons? One by one, the soldiers fell. Enraged, Xiang Yan rushed back inside to grab a longbow. He shot three swift arrows in one draw, piercing the heads of three Night Demons. The force of the arrows knocked them to the ground, but they quickly got back up and lunged at the nearby soldiers. In just a moment, the soldiers in the courtyard were completely devoured. 0

Xiang Yan gritted his teeth and shouted, "Where is the Demon Queen?" 0

Ji Zichen leaped into the courtyard, and with a flick of his wrist, the fire orb dimmed. "Four-Point Fire Dragon God!" 0

Suddenly, four fiery dragons sprang forth from all corners of the courtyard. They swiftly circled around, igniting the Night Demons, who shrieked in agony. 0

Flames surged throughout the courtyard, transforming it into a sea of fire as it gradually consumed the Night Demons into ash. 0

Ji Zichen stated firmly, "Night Demons are not afraid of blades or guns; fire is their weakness, but ordinary fire cannot burn them." 0

Xiang Yan replied, "You just mentioned the Demon Queen." 0

Ji Zichen continued, "The Demon Queen wouldn't attack the city without reason. She must also be under someone's control. You know well why the Night Demons are attacking here." 0

Xiang Yan realized, "Are you implying it's the Western King? Were these sent by him?" 0

Ji Zichen responded, "I don't know for sure, but I do know this is only the first wave. To eliminate future threats, we must find the Demon Queen. You all need to leave here; I will go after her." 0

Ji Zichen activated his lightness skill and leaped onto a rooftop. He looked toward the direction of the full moon since Night Demons are most attracted to moonlight; the Demon Queen would surely be somewhere in the city close to it. 0

Ji Zichen focused his senses and listened intently while moving swiftly from roof to roof. 0

Soon, he arrived at a fog-laden street, silent and eerie. Ji Zichen walked alone through the mist when he suddenly heard a melody. 0

“Birds sleep on branches, bats dance in the moonlight, a sorrowful soul refuses to rest, fearing it is still a ghost in the woods.” 0

The voice sang slowly, as if whispering directly into his ear. 0

As Ji Zichen moved through the fog, he caught sight of a dense forest. He knew he was still within the city; these were merely illusions conjured by the Demon Queen. 0

He paused in the shadow of an ancient cedar tree, invisible to others. The moonlight could not penetrate the darkness, but the Buddhist beads in his hand emitted a faint glow. 0

The singing came from the Demon Queen, who stood at the edge of a cliff. From afar, she appeared in a flowing white garment, her figure graceful and alluring. She danced under the moonlight like a mischievous princess sneaking out of her palace. Yet up close, she bore a different impression; she resembled a married woman whose figure was well-maintained enough to stir any man's adrenaline. 0

Her long brown hair was styled conservatively yet maturely. 0

As the dancing Demon Queen suddenly heard footsteps behind her, she gracefully halted her movements. The moon hung large and round outside the cliff, its bright light illuminating her as she faced it. Ji Zichen stood just behind her; despite the strong moonlight and proximity to the source, it still failed to reveal his lowered face. 0

Ji Zichen's voice was icy. “Night Demon’s tune—its melody is indeed pleasant, but this song cannot deceive me.” 0

The Demon Queen smiled lightly, her expression reminiscent of a young girl waiting for her beloved to arrive. Without turning around, she gazed dreamily at the enormous moon and softly replied, “I know.” 0

She pressed her hand against a surface nearby. At that moment, Ji Zichen spoke again. “Though the melody is enticing, I still want to ask you—who sent you here?” 0

The Demon Queen pulled on something at her side; suddenly, silken threads cascaded down. As she turned her body, her face seemed to regain youthful vitality, shy like a bride preparing for her wedding night. With a playful smile, she said, “Take a good look at me; don’t I also entice like your tune?” 0

Ji Zichen fixed his gaze on the stunning Demon Queen. He was not swayed by her beauty because he knew that beneath this exquisite exterior lay nothing but a repulsive corpse. 0

His expression remained cold. “You still haven’t answered my question.” 0

The Demon Queen smiled seductively, swaying her hips as she circled Ji Zichen from several meters away. Slowly removing her cloak and spreading her palms revealed a spider-like emblem in her hand. “I don’t wish to be here either, but I am already being controlled.” 0

Ji Zichen did not waste time with pleasantries. "Who are you?" 0

The Demon Queen smiled lightly, not answering but instead asking, "Before we engage, may I ask you a question?" 0

Ji Zichen narrowed his eyes at the Demon Queen. "Why are you helping them? As far as I know, the people from the Divine Alliance Under the Covenant have no dealings with the officials. Aren't you only responsible for artifacts? Why meddle in other matters?" 0

"I just find you disgusting," Ji Zichen replied. 0

The Demon Queen's face broke into a seductive smile. She pulled at her belt, letting her thin garment fall to the ground, revealing her flawless form before Ji Zichen's eyes. Her skin was as white as the moon, delicate and seemingly fragile. Suddenly, it aged rapidly, becoming wrinkled and dry. The Demon Queen transformed into a cloud of black mist and swiftly darted past Ji Zichen, causing his clothes to flutter slightly in the gale. 0

As the Demon Queen fled, Ji Zichen appeared unhurried. He knew she would not escape; she was being manipulated and would not give up until her goal was achieved. 0

He stood quietly, waiting for the right moment when the Demon Queen would strike. After a brief pause, he heard rustling sounds coming from the nearby forest. Ji Zichen's eyes widened in surprise. 0

He dashed toward the source of the noise. Upon arrival, he found nothing but an empty space; however, a thicket on his right was swaying without any wind. Ji Zichen activated his Water Buddha Bead and said, "Five Lotus Water Mist." 0

The water mist erupted within the thicket, raising a cloud of blue vapor that sparkled like crystal powder. The Demon Queen let out a strange cry as her emaciated figure emerged from within the blue mist. Without hesitation, Ji Zichen drew his Demon-Slaying Sword and struck at the Demon Queen. She quickly bent down to evade the attack, but Ji Zichen's sword flickered with shadows as it lunged toward her again. The Demon Queen moved with incredible speed. 0

Before the sword shadow could reach her, she dodged once more. The sword shadow struck down a thick tree behind her instead. Seizing the opportunity, the Demon Queen raised her bony hand to slash at Ji Zichen's throat with her exceptionally sharp nails. If they made contact, it would spell disaster for him. Drawing on his extensive combat experience, Ji Zichen leaned back slightly; her sharp nails grazed just an inch away from his throat. 0

Ji Zichen kicked at the Demon Queen's ankle, causing her to tilt towards the ground. He raised his Demon-Slaying Sword to strike at her neck. Just as he was about to make contact, she suddenly transformed into black mist and vanished again. 0

Ji Zichen held his breath and focused intently, scanning his surroundings. The Demon Queen hurled a half-broken thick branch that he had previously shattered back at him. The branch was heavy and robust—far beyond what human strength could withstand. Ji Zichen shouted, "Wind Barrier!" 0

His Wind Buddha Bead glowed faintly as a green protective shield enveloped him. When the thick branch collided with the shield, both shattered simultaneously. The impact forced Ji Zichen to stagger back three steps as blood surged within him from the force of the collision. 0

The Demon Queen seized the opportunity and lunged at Ji Zichen, her sharp claws slashing through the air. Ji Zichen raised his sword to block the attack. 0

The Demon Queen delivered a flying kick, sending him sprawling backward. The Demon-Slaying Sword slipped from his grasp as he crashed heavily to the ground, feeling dizzy and disoriented. In a daze, Ji Zichen struggled to his feet, swinging his fists wildly at the air. At that moment, the Demon Queen transformed into a cloud of black mist before him, only to coalesce behind him as she approached slowly. 0

With one hand pressing against his head and the other on his shoulder, the Demon Queen bared her fangs and bit into his neck, draining several mouthfuls of blood before tossing him aside like a dead chicken. 0

Grinning with bared teeth, the Demon Queen stood before him. It seemed she did not wish to end Ji Zichen's life just yet. She advanced step by step while Ji Zichen clutched his neck with one hand and crawled backward using his left elbow. 0

The Demon Queen opened her bloody maw and roared at Ji Zichen, her ferocious visage advancing toward him. But suddenly, she felt something was amiss; her muscles began to recover, and then her fangs fell out. The Demon Queen was taken aback by this turn of events. 0

"Your... your blood is poisonous!" 0

As soon as she spoke, panic set in, and she attempted to flee. However, after just a few steps, she felt her leg bones shatter beneath her. With no strength left in her legs, she could only crawl on her hands. By then, Ji Zichen had reached her side and stepped on the Demon Queen's head. 0

"I once consumed the Three Transformation Cultivation Pill," Ji Zichen declared. "You drinking my blood is a path to your own demise!" 0

The Demon Queen gasped in shock. "The Three Transformation Cultivation Pill! You actually consumed it! But your eyes... you can still see!" 0

Ji Zichen replied coldly, "Of course I can see. How else would I kill you?" As the Demon Queen let out a final long howl in despair, Ji Zichen crushed the skull of this Night Demon beneath his foot. 0
