Adam's decision hangs in the air, weighing heavily on everyone's hearts. His eyes reveal a sense of helplessness and burden, as if feeling a certain pain about his decision. Alice's reaction is even more intense, her eyes filled with distrust and resistance: "We can't do this! Jack is not at fault, you can't kick him out for this reason!" Her voice carries despair and anger.
But at this moment, Alice's words seem futile. The struggle and hesitation in the eyes of the others have disappeared, as if they have all accepted this merciless decision. Bruce has been silently observing on the side, his face showing a hint of disguised sadness. After Adam makes the decision, he slowly walks to Jack's bedside and wipes away the tears from the corner of his eyes.
Bruce whispered to the doctor, "Please allow me to speak with him for a few moments. Although we haven't spent much time together, I still have some feelings for him." His voice carried a hint of feigned warmth.
The doctor briefly glanced at Jack, hesitated for a moment, and finally nodded, "You can, but don't take too long. We still don't know how this plague is spreading."
Bruce approached Jack and spoke in a low voice, his expression feigning sympathy and sorrow. Jack was filled with anger and helplessness, knowing that Bruce's actions were all a facade, but he couldn't refute it and could only silently endure it.
Bruce's voice was deep and sinister, his words filled with sarcasm and mockery. He leaned in close to Jack, a smirk playing on his lips: "You bastard, still trying to mess with me? Take a look at yourself first." His voice carried a hint of mockery.
Jack's heart was burning with anger, but unfortunately, his body was tied to the hospital bed and he couldn't move. Bruce continued his mockery: "I have to thank you for telling Dali everything in detail. When he reported everything to me, he said you looked panicked and worried about the future of the shelter. My god! This should have been my responsibility, you fool!"
Jack felt despair, his heart filled with distrust and fear. Every word from Bruce felt like a needle piercing his heart. He couldn't believe that all of this was a carefully planned conspiracy by Bruce, and he had unwittingly become the victim of this conspiracy.
Bruce looked at Jack with a helpless expression, sneered and turned away. Tears welled up in Jack's eyes, feeling utterly powerless and hopeless. He knew the fate that awaited him, labeled as a "disease carrier," he would be forced to leave the shelter he once considered home.
At that moment, besides anger, Jack also felt a deep worry about the future. He didn't know what his future held, nor what the others in the shelter would face. In this dark and helpless moment, he felt abandoned by a merciless fate.
At this tense moment, Jack's emotions reached a boiling point. He trembled violently in bed, filled with unspeakable anger and hatred towards Bruce. Every action and word from Bruce felt like a deliberate mockery of his helplessness and despair.
Bruce continued his dramatic performance, putting on a compassionate look and placing his hand on Jack's shoulder. In a loud voice, he said, "May God forgive you for the eleven lives you have taken, may your evil come to an end on this earth." After speaking, he gave Jack a huge, mocking smile, then slowly backed away and left the operating room.
At this moment, a group of people in protective suits began to push Jack away from the operating table. Members of the shelter's management and Adam also left the room one by one, leaving only Alice. She stood there, her face filled with worry and unease, shouting loudly, "We can't do this!" But her protest seemed unable to change the decision that had already been made.
Jack felt an unprecedented sense of helplessness and loneliness. Even in his final moments, only Alice was speaking up for him. But in the despair and darkness of this shelter, everything seemed predetermined. His eyes were filled with pain and unwillingness, but he was powerless to change anything. He was ruthlessly pushed out of the operating room, taken towards his unknown fate.
When Jack was pushed along the long corridor of the shelter by a group of personnel wearing heavy protective suits, a heavy atmosphere of anxiety enveloped the entire scene. Dozens of shelter residents had gathered on either side of the corridor, and it was evident that the news had spread throughout the shelter. Their eyes were filled with fear, anger, and even hatred. Various discussions and accusations could be heard in the crowd.
"Look at that virus carrier!" a middle-aged woman pointed at Jack with a voice filled with terror.
"He killed our friend!" a burly man shouted angrily, his face contorted with emotion.
Jack felt a sense of powerlessness. He wanted to explain, to shout out the truth, but the rag in his mouth prevented him from speaking clearly. He could only silently cry out in his heart, hoping that someone would hear his silent plea.
The security personnel tightly surrounded Jack and continuously warned the crowd, "Back off! Keep your distance!"
As Jack and the security personnel approached the exit of the shelter, emotions began to escalate. Some people started throwing various items at Jack to express their anger and dissatisfaction.
"Get out!" a young voice screamed.
Jack painfully dodged the flying objects, his heart filled with despair. These people, they used to be his companions, but now they had become his enemies. This change was hard for him to accept.
Just as they were about to reach the exit, Alice suddenly pushed through the crowd and approached Jack with determination: "Jack, you must stay strong! I know you are innocent!" Her eyes were filled with tears and helplessness.
Jack wanted to respond to her, but his mouth was sealed shut. His eyes revealed gratitude and sadness.
At that moment, the security personnel quickened their pace and pushed Jack towards the outside world of the shelter. At the entrance, Adam stood there, a hint of reluctance in his eyes, but he eventually turned away without intervening.
