"I... if I had known, I wouldn't have asked you. Please use the site for access." Mai Lao's face suddenly turned a bit pale, leaving him confused.
Jiao Ba merely sneered, saying nothing.
"What do you mean, Jiao Ba? At a time like this, why are you acting like that?" Jenny said softly, unable to contain herself any longer.
I carefully observed Jiao Ba's expression; he definitely had something on his mind. Perhaps he had discovered something or had some leverage over someone. Otherwise, he wouldn't be acting so strangely for no reason.
Suddenly, Jiao Ba returned to his usual demeanor and grinned mischievously. "What do you mean? I'm just asking Mai Lao if he has any ideas. What about you, Jenny? Do you have any solutions? And Li Xin, Changshan, and every brother and sister here, let's all brainstorm together. My abilities are quite limited," Jiao Ba said with a feigned look of helplessness, as if he had already tried his best and couldn't think of anything else.
Everyone was taken aback by his words, exchanging glances filled with embarrassment and confusion.
"Lao Ba, what are you doing? Why are you joking around at a time like this?" I truly couldn't understand what he was playing at. We were stuck at this passageway, too afraid to go in or out. What kind of situation was this?
"Who’s joking? Don’t talk nonsense. If you have an idea, say it; if not, just be quiet," Jiao Bayi's words left me speechless. I couldn't even find a reason to argue back.
"Xiao Ba, please stop making jokes at our expense! This is a matter of life and death; we can't afford to take it lightly. One wrong step and we're done for," Mai Lao said sternly, clearly angry.

Jiao Ba chuckled and patted Changshan on the shoulder. "Changshan, you're actually more knowledgeable than I am. Why be so modest?"
"I'm... I'm not being modest! I just know a little bit; I learned some things from my elders before," Changshan said, sweating nervously.
Li Xin suddenly spoke coldly, "You're really being unreasonable. Even now you're trying to make things difficult for everyone? Do you think we can't manage without you? I refuse to believe that I can't get through this passage!" As she spoke, she started to push her way into the passage.
I stepped forward and grabbed her arm. "Are you crazy? If there are traps inside, you'll be finished!"
"Let go of me! I'm going in no matter what," Li Xin said as she forcefully shook off my hand and headed straight into the passage.
But at that moment, Jenny suddenly hugged her from behind. "Don't go, it's too dangerous, Jiao Ba, I'm begging you, think of a way!" Jenny almost pleaded with Jiao Ba.
Jiao Bayi calmly said, "I'm not trying to make things difficult for everyone; I just don't dare to make a rash decision. How about this? I'll ask everyone a question, and then I'll think of a way to leave. Is that okay?"
"What question?" Jenny and the others asked almost in unison.
"It's very simple, just one question: who was the first to discover Old Wang on the night he died?" Jiao Ba's eyes glinted coldly, but it wasn't a murderous glare; it was more like a gaze that could see through everything.
Everyone looked at each other. "I don't know; I wasn't on guard that night," Big Guy was the first to speak.
After that, except for Mai Lao and Little Tiger, everyone else expressed their ignorance.
Little Tiger blushed and said, "I... I was the first to hear Old Wang's scream. Then I called Mai Lao over. What do you mean by this?" Little Tiger spoke timidly, his voice sounding weak.
"Xiao Ba, are you suspecting that we killed Old Wang?" Mai Lao's voice rose slightly, clearly angry.
"No, everyone knows he was bitten to death by those bugs. How could I suspect you two? I just wanted to ask if you saw any suspicious people at that time," Jiao Ba quickly explained.
"No, when Little Tiger called me over, Old Wang was already on the verge of death. I really wanted to save him, but unfortunately, I was powerless," Mai Lao said with a somewhat sad expression.
Little Tiger also added, "Yeah, when we found him, he was already surrounded by those bugs. As for anyone else, I didn't notice." Little Tiger looked at Jiao Ba as he spoke.
Jiao Ba calmly nodded and then put on a fake smile. "Hehe, alright, it's nothing. I was just asking casually. Now that the time is about right, we should be able to pass through. So first, hand over all the knives you have."
"All of them? What... does that mean?" Mantou asked in confusion.
"It means nothing; we need to find a way to get through the passage. What else can we do?" Jiao Ba said helplessly.
Since he had a plan, we just followed his lead. We then handed over all the knives we had to Jiao Ba. Holding the knives in his hands, Jiao Ba walked to the edge of the passage and squatted down to carefully observe the ground at the entrance with a flashlight. It was unclear what he meant by this.

At that moment, Changshan suddenly said, “Aren’t underground palaces usually built with Han White Jade?”
Jiao Ba scoffed and said, “That’s for the Mausoleum. Regular palace officials don’t have that kind of qualification. Besides, this is just a deserted island; having any stones here is already fortunate. There’s no need for such extravagance.”
After he finished speaking, he threw a knife forward. It landed on the ground with a clatter, about a meter away from us. He then threw several more knives. I had to admit, Jiao Ba's accuracy was astonishing.
The knives he threw formed a nearly straight line, with only a few centimeters of difference between them. Each knife landed more than a meter apart from the others, totaling six knives thrown over a distance of several meters.
No one spoke; even Mai Lao and Changshan didn’t dare to interrupt. We all focused intently on Jiao Ba’s every move. After throwing the six knives, he took out another one.
He turned his head to glance at the right side of the passageway and suddenly flicked his wrist. With a clang, the sharp knife struck the stone wall at the entrance of the passage. It was as if the knife had been set up in advance, executing a series of ricochets.
After hitting the right wall, the knife rebounded to the left wall and then back to the right wall again. It repeated this bouncing several times before finally dropping to the ground.
The spot where the knife fell was right next to one of the six knives Jiao Ba had thrown earlier, landing precisely beside it at a distance of about seven or eight meters from us...
