Tu Ling woke up to the sight of three men.
Although they had once entertained thoughts of wanting Tu Ling dead, they had never dared to act on it.
Unexpectedly, today Cub, in a fit of anger, pushed Tu Ling against the stone wall.
Even though her intellect was exceptional, her body was particularly fragile. Looking at the blood on the ground, they thought she might not survive this.
Tu Ling could see the expressions on the faces of the three men and understood their thoughts.
These three men were familiar with her and did not intend to kill her; in fact, they seemed to hold some fear of her.
Tu Ling had originally lived in a world ravaged by a mutated virus, where humans turned into zombies and animals and plants underwent constant mutations.
Fortunately, humanity was evolving, gaining supernatural abilities and enhancing their physical functions.
Tu Ling was the strongest among the evolved beings in this apocalyptic world but unexpectedly encountered a Zombie King. When she woke up again, she found herself in this strange place.
Bai Qi saw Tu Ling staring at the blood on her hands and was terrified. He quickly made Cub, who was in his arms, kneel down to beg for forgiveness.
Though young, Cub was quite stubborn and refused to kneel. His fair little face looked like jelly, making one want to take a bite.
Tu Ling suppressed the urge to pinch his cheeks and turned her gaze away, wondering what had happened to her.
While crying, Bai Qi explained, “Matriarch, just now Fu Xiang tripped over a stone and accidentally pushed you against the wall. Then you fainted. He really didn’t mean it; please don’t punish him.”
Finally having a legitimate reason, Tu Ling could openly look at the adorable cub and forced a smile that she thought was kind.
Who wouldn’t want the affection of a cub?
But that very smile caused even the stoic Silver Trace and Purple Night to kneel in fear.
Purple Night, gritting his teeth, declared that as long as Matriarch spared Fu Xiang, he would allow anything tonight.
Only then did Fu Xiang realize the seriousness of the situation. He quickly knelt down and began banging his head on the ground, his tender forehead almost instantly bleeding. Seeing this made Tu Ling feel a pang of sympathy.
Looking at the group of men and boys kneeling before her, Tu Ling couldn't help but twitch the corner of her mouth.
Was it really that terrifying? Even in this apocalyptic world where the strong ruled, it wasn't this exaggerated.
Deciding to ignore them, Tu Ling thought that if she didn't tend to the injury on her head soon, she might end up dead again.
"Alright, I won't punish you anymore, but the four of you need to leave and let me have some peace," she said.
"Yes, Matriarch." The four of them darted out like the wind, as if they couldn't bear to stay another moment.
Once they were gone, Tu Ling quietly assessed her abilities.
Her fire and space powers were still intact, and everything in her space remained. However, the erosion ability had vanished, and her powers had dropped to the lowest level.
The area of effect for her main attack in space was small; it contained not food but various medicines, tools, crystals, and weapons.
With a wave of her hand in the air, a glass vial filled with a light green liquid appeared in her palm.
This was a potion made by a healing ability user who infused their power into water. It had strong restorative properties; as long as someone wasn't completely dead, drinking a vial would almost instantly heal them. But this was the only one she had left.
After drinking it, Tu Ling felt an itch at the back of her head as her hair began to grow rapidly. The previously tangled mess was pushed down while the hair on top became dark and shiny.
She then retrieved a pair of scissors from her space and quickly snipped away the unruly strands, leaving her head feeling refreshed.
Standing up next, Tu Ling surveyed her surroundings.
The ground was cluttered with hay, likely serving as a sleeping area, along with unprocessed entrails scattered about—intestines and waste lay everywhere.
If she weren't used to such sights, she would have felt nauseous.
Thinking about how dirty she and those men were made her scoff. What kind of broken world was this that had no regard for cleanliness?
As the sun began to set, several men returned with bruised faces, carrying a piece of meat.
They approached with the bloody meat held out toward Tu Ling's mouth. The overwhelming stench of blood hit her senses immediately, and she disdainfully swatted it away.
Could it be that the people here all eat raw meat?
Looking at the piece of meat that had fallen to the ground, Silver Trace and Purple Leaf glared at Tu Ling with resentment, as if she had committed a grave mistake.
Bai Qi and Cub were on the verge of tears, feeling utterly wronged.
Today, after being sent out by Tu Ling, the four of them sought forgiveness by going to find food and managed to catch a wild boar.
After catching it, they quickly cut off a large piece of meat and hid it away before preparing to head back with the wild boar. However, on their way back, another male from a different Faction snatched it away.
In the Beast World, it is forbidden to fight over food from another Faction because their Matriarch would come to defend them.
Regardless of which Faction they belong to, males are expected to show respect towards females. But Tu Ling does not follow this; instead, she bullies her own males while trying to curry favor with those from other Factions.
As a result, Tu Ling's Faction often has their food stolen by others.
Fortunately, they had hidden away one piece earlier, but now that precious meat they had worked so hard to protect was easily knocked to the ground by Tu Ling.
What fell was not just a piece of meat; it was also their sincerity and dignity.
While other males found their own Factions thriving, ever since they joined this one, they had either been insulted or oppressed. They would be better off living alone.
