All the fragments in my mind formed a complete clue, clearer than ever before. However, when I understood the true nature of the case, I found myself at a loss for how to face the five people in front of me. The murderer was among these five, yet they were not just the five in front of me.
The events likely began that afternoon four days ago.
Nine days prior, Russell Mei and Captain Zhou had a quarrel. However, things were not as Captain Zhou claimed; in fact, he had contacted Russell Mei afterward. As their relationship progressed, Russell Mei discovered a secret of Captain Zhou's. From then on, she could receive three thousand yuan each month without any effort.
It was this secret that ignited Captain Zhou's murderous intent.

Otherwise, she wouldn't have found herself in such deadly trouble over money.
After having breakfast, Russell Mei walked into the nail salon with excitement. She felt everything here was perfect. Perhaps she recalled her mother's words about how doing nails would hinder her ability to work. But in reality, once she received the fifty thousand yuan, she wouldn't have to worry anymore.
She was happy and chatted with the staff member Tony about many things. Little did she know that these words would become her last testament.
She had no idea this would be her first and last time getting her nails done.
Then someone called her, and she got into a car.
She never realized that this one minute could feel like a century. She clutched her neck and stood up, the cold air unable to match the chill in her heart. This place was unfamiliar to her. Fortunately, an old-fashioned truck slowly approached.
Russell Mei rushed out, startling the driver inside.
This person was a complete stranger to her.
But she saw the woman clutching her neck tightly, blood seeping through her fingers. She had never encountered anything like this before and quickly stopped the car, allowing the woman to get in.
"There's a clinic in the village; it's better than going to the hospital," she said.
The woman nodded, her face still filled with terror.
She asked what had happened and why the woman was here.
Seemingly too frightened to think, Russell Mei quickly told her everything. She was the girlfriend of Zhou Jianshe, the captain of the Criminal Investigation Team at the Yumu City Public Security Bureau. Because she had learned one of his secrets, he wanted to kill her to silence her.
With that, she sighed in relief and looked at her. "Thank goodness you passed by."
There was nothing more for her to say.
Russell Mei had never been here before; she didn't realize that, unknowingly, the truck had already driven past the village clinic. They left the village, and Russell Mei began to feel increasingly uneasy. The driver reassured her not to worry; they would arrive soon. "There are bandages in the city; I can help you wrap it up," he said.
Russell Mei trusted this stranger, but the world had always been cruel. Reality dealt her another blow; once they entered the city, she suddenly felt a heavy blow to her neck and fainted. When she woke up, she realized it was pitch black around her.
She felt cold and soon noticed that her clothes were missing.
She had escaped one person's clutches only to fall into another's.
She screamed, she shouted, she banged her head against the wall, she was in a frenzy, but it was all in vain. The heavy snow fell outside, and no one would come to this place. She felt extremely cold, leaning against the box, trying to warm herself up.
At that moment, at the entrance of Tou Gou Zi Village, east of the village.

The others nodded in agreement.
They drove their truck to the Second Market and opened the warehouse.
Everything went as Er had planned; they began dismembering the bodies. However, Russell Mei was jolted awake by intense pain. Er casually grabbed a box and wrapped a strap around her neck, leaving a second mark.
Everything proceeded according to plan.
But they could never have anticipated that along with Captain Zhou came me.
They had planned to confront Captain Zhou; that way, he would certainly not arrest them. The five would provide false testimony, claiming that this was the work of a wandering Perverted Killer who had already left the National Highway. In this way, Captain Zhou would be none the wiser, and neither would they face any consequences.
But they had no idea what my position was.
As my investigation deepened, they felt that this matter would eventually be exposed.
At that moment, they decided that if I was determined to pursue the truth, they would first sacrifice Li Danan, who was suffering from cancer.

I have a clear understanding of what kind of person Captain Zhou has been over these past few months. If he hadn't been pushed to a dead end, how could he have done such a thing?
So what should I do?
Should I continue to play along with the Five Brothers, ensuring everyone lives happily ever after without committing any more wrongdoings for the rest of their lives? Or should I ruthlessly expose these two layers of lies and lay bare the bloody truth?
