Zhao Pingjuan and Zhang Xue stepped out of the house and saw Zhou Moli. The three of them felt a bit awkward. They never expected that when called one by one, their statements would be identical. Each of them shifted the blame onto someone else, insisting they were innocent. 0

Aside from Liang Mei, who was unreachable, the three of them met here. It was hard to imagine how uncomfortable they must have felt. They exchanged glances, but no one spoke. 0

The silence was broken by Wang Yikai. His brows were tightly knitted, clearly in distress. He clutched his stomach tightly and said, "Since we're already at this point, let's not beat around the bush. If none of you are involved, then it must be Liang Mei." 0

"Liang Mei?" Zhang Xue exclaimed in surprise. 0

She added, "It can't be Liang Mei. She rarely speaks up and always asks us for advice when something happens; she doesn't have her own opinions. I think she should be the least suspicious." 0

"But did any of you see Liang Mei that night?" I asked. "I heard she was alone in her dorm." 0

After I spoke, Zhang Xue and Zhou Moli fell silent. After a moment, they both shook their heads. 0

Zhou Moli said, "Well, it seems we really didn't see Liang Mei." 0

Zhao Pingjuan suggested, "Let's find Liang Mei and ask her. Since the three of us are here, we might as well call her over." 0

I shrugged and replied, "But we can't reach Liang Mei anymore. Can you try contacting her?" 0

Zhao Pingjuan said, "I exchanged phone numbers with Liang Mei at the gathering; I'll give it a try." 0

However, it was futile; Liang Mei seemed to have vanished. 0

"It looks like we need to investigate what Liang Mei has been up to," I said as I glanced at Zhao Mingkun. 0

Wang Yikai spoke with a trembling voice, "That seems to point to Liang Mei being involved. But before we investigate further, please take me to the hospital; my stomach is getting worse. I don't think I can hold on until we reach the next city for a check-up." 0

"Then let's go," I said as I looked at Wang Yikai. 0

Wang Yikai nodded and stood up to follow me and Zhao Mingkun outside. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed that he walked with great difficulty, his thighs pressed tightly together as he moved his legs to walk. His gait resembled that of a duck waddling along. 0

Zhao Pingjuan looked at him and laughed, saying, "Wang Yikai, why are you walking like that? Are you about to soil your pants?" 0

At this remark, everyone around couldn't help but chuckle. 0

Wang Yikai felt a bit embarrassed. At that moment, one hand was gripping his abdomen tightly while the other clutched the armrest of the chair. Beads of sweat rolled down his face, resembling a woman in labor. 0

Wang Yikai said, "I'm in this state, so stop laughing. We should hurry to the hospital." 0

"What did you eat?" I felt something was seriously wrong with Wang Yikai. Even if he had eaten something bad, it shouldn't have lasted from last night until now, and it seemed to be getting worse. Could it be some kind of gastroenteritis? 0

Thinking this, I reached out to support Wang Yikai. 0

He was standing but had curled up almost like a large lobster. As I extended my hand to help him, he let go of the armrest and tried to grab my arm. However, it seemed he had lost all strength; in that instant, he suddenly collapsed to the ground. 0

Then he began to roll on the floor. We could see him trembling all over and starting to retch uncontrollably. The women who had been laughing at Wang Yikai were now panicking at the sight. Zhao Mingkun reacted quickly and crouched down to check on Wang Yikai's condition. 0

I immediately crouched down as well, wanting to help him up. 0

But at that moment, it seemed Wang Yikai could no longer hold it in. We heard several "puff" sounds coming from his backside, but instead of a foul odor, there was a strong smell of blood. I glanced over and saw fresh blood had already stained the suit pants he was wearing, and at that moment, blood was flowing down his legs. 0

I had never seen anything like this before; even if someone had hemorrhoids that burst, it wouldn't result in such a river of blood. 0

Wang Yikai began to tremble violently while continuing to retch. 0

"Call an ambulance! Dial 1 quickly!" I shouted urgently. 0

The people standing nearby finally reacted and started dialing 1. 0

However, Wang Yikai's reactions were becoming increasingly severe. His body jerked violently as he vomited a large amount of blood from his mouth. He clutched his stomach as if in excruciating pain. He struggled to speak, but with every word he tried to utter, more blood surged from his mouth. 0

"What happened to me? What is happening to me?" Wang Yikai's voice was low, but we could hear him clearly. 0

I could see the panic on Wang Yikai's face. 0

"I have never killed anyone, I really haven't. I know it was wrong of me to have Luo Ding steal Lu Zhiqiu's underwear back then." Wang Yikai reached out a hand, gripping my arm tightly. "But I know I was wrong. Why is this happening? Doesn't the master want someone like me to stay alive?" 0

I shook my head and held onto Wang Yikai's hand. "It's okay, you just have a burst hemorrhoid; you're not going to die from that." 0

Wang Yikai's eyes widened in shock as he gritted his teeth, the words bursting forth from between them. "I know my own body! It hurts so much! I... I hurt so badly! I don't want to die; there are still many things I haven't done, many places I haven't been." 0

"I don't want to die!" Wang Yikai suddenly glared with wide eyes, gripping my arm with such force that it felt like he might break it. 0

Blood poured from his mouth and nose. I could feel his grip gradually weakening. Eventually, his hand fell limp, devoid of strength. Yet his eyes remained wide open, still unblinking. 0

His pupils dilated, and we had Yang Licheng fetch a flashlight. I shone the light into his eyes; his pupils no longer reacted to the light, which meant Wang Yikai was already dead. Around his pupils, a murky white substance had begun to form. 0

I sat down on the ground, and no one around spoke a word. 0

What on earth happened? We had been with Wang Yikai since eight o'clock last night. Now, it had been about fourteen or fifteen hours. During the time we spent together, he had seemed completely normal and showed no signs of discomfort. 0

However, starting last night, Wang Yikai had felt a vague pain in his stomach, and now he had lost his life because of it. How did the murderer manage this? I couldn't fathom how the murderer killed Wang Yikai. 0

Could it have been some delayed-acting poison? From my limited knowledge, I couldn't think of any poison that could take effect after nearly twelve hours. Moreover, during that time, Wang Yikai had gone to the bathroom multiple times; if it were an oral poison, it would have lost its effect by now. If it wasn't taken orally, then Wang Yikai would have succumbed to the poison long ago. 0

I had never encountered any poison that caused such symptoms in its victims. 0

Was it possible that someone sneaked into the house early this morning and poisoned him? That would explain why Wang Yikai had been going to the bathroom frequently at that time. 0

Who exactly was the murderer? How could they kill someone using such a bizarre method? 0

I stared at Wang Yikai's lifeless body, speechless for a long time. 0

Wang Yikai had booked a flight to another city at six o'clock this afternoon, but the Murderer struck before that. I began to understand why the Murderer was killing so quickly. The goal was to eliminate thirteen people, a staggering number. If anyone sensed something was wrong and tried to leave Dongxing City, the Murderer would likely lose the chance to kill them. 0

The speed of the Murderer's actions was alarming; even before news of the other deaths reached the survivors, the next survivor had already met their end. The best way to avoid the Murderer now was to leave Dongxing City and wait until we or the police captured him before returning. 0

I looked at the few women who were still in shock and said, "You see? Whether or not this is the same Murderer who killed Lu Zhiqiu seven years ago, whoever is here for Lu Zhiqiu will not let this go. Although I still can't figure out if any of you are the Murderer, you all have families in Dongxing City and probably can't escape. I advise you, if you can get out and hide, do it." 0

The women nodded in agreement. Zhang Xue's voice trembled as she said, "Then I'll take my leave first. I'll make arrangements to leave Dongxing City and go back to my family for a while. Once they catch the Murderer, I'll come back." 0

The other two women nodded in unison, saying, "So will we." 0

Yang Licheng spoke up, "I'll go find Wang Xin and discuss what we should do. If not, we can hire some bodyguards to watch over us twenty-four hours a day. You all need to act quickly; this is just too terrifying. A good person has died right in front of us like this." 0

At that moment, the sound of an ambulance could be heard outside. 0

"Wait here; we'll go get a doctor," I said as I glanced at Wang Yikai's body. "But honestly, it seems like it's already too late. Damn it! If only we could have gotten him to the hospital when he first started feeling pain." 0

Zhao Mingkun and I had already stepped out of the room when I turned back and said, "If you can find Wang Xin and stay with him, that would be good. Just remember to tell him to stay alert. After we finish investigating Liang Mei's situation, we'll head over to Wang Xin's house." 0

Yang Licheng nodded and replied, "Alright, that's all we can do." 0
