Do you know what human flesh tastes like? 0

In Yunnan, there was a notorious individual who specialized in consuming the flesh of teenagers. He would only drink liquor made from soaked eyeballs, and even his dog feasted on the leftover organs he couldn't finish. 0

What was even more terrifying was that some of the leftovers were turned into cured meat, which he sold at the market as ostrich meat. 0

Many locals in Yunnan may have unknowingly eaten his so-called ostrich meat, which was said to be in high demand and received rave reviews from those who tried it. 0

However, when news of his human meat sales broke, residents flocked to hospitals for gastric lavage. Some even threw away their refrigerators, while others vowed never to eat meat again for the rest of their lives. 0

This ruthless individual was Zhang Yongming, known as China's Hannibal. 0

So what exactly happened in this case? How did he develop a taste for human flesh? 0

The incident took place in Kunming City, Yunnan Province. 0

On the morning of April 26, 2012, a middle-aged woman named Cheng Lianyan hurriedly emerged from the bus station in Jincheng Town. 0

She was anxious because just the day before, she had received a call from her son's workplace informing her that her son, Han Yao, had been missing for 24 hours. 0

Upon inquiry, it was revealed that Han Yao was 19 years old and studying at Yunnan University of Business Management. In April, he had been assigned to intern at a construction site in Jincheng Town, Jinning County. 0

On the morning of April 25, at 9 AM, under the manager's instructions, Han Yao left the construction site to retrieve some documents from his dormitory. However, several hours later, the manager noticed that Han Yao had not returned. 0

This puzzled the manager since it only took about 20 minutes to travel from the site to the dormitory. There was no way Han Yao could take so long; something must have happened to him. 0

The manager quickly dispatched people to search for him. After several hours with no sign of Han Yao, they went to the police station to report his disappearance. However, the police stated that since Han Yao had been missing for less than 24 hours, they could not file a case. 0

The manager then contacted Han Yao's mother. By April 26, Cheng Lianyan arrived at her son's construction site and told the manager that her son was very responsible and would never go missing without reason. 0

She then accompanied Han Yao's colleagues to the police station to file a report. By this time, Han Yao had been missing for 24 hours. 0

According to regulations at that time, the police station should have initiated an investigation. However, the station chief evaded responsibility with various excuses and told everyone to keep looking. 0

In a moment of desperation, Cheng Lianyan quickly called relatives from her hometown to help search for her son. Soon, her relatives drove to Jincheng Town. 0

However, no matter how hard they searched, there were no leads. 0

Just then, a concerned local resident overheard their search and informed them that the missing child might have been sold to a Black Brick Kiln. 0

According to this helpful citizen, there were several Black Brick Kilns in the area where many young people had been tricked into working as laborers. Although some had managed to escape, these Black Brick Kilns remained operational, suggesting that there might be some hidden interests at play. 0

With a glimmer of hope, Cheng Lianyan decided to visit several of these Black Brick Kilns in search of her son. However, before they could even enter, they were violently thrown out by the thugs inside. 0

Feeling powerless, Cheng Lianyan returned to the police station to file a report. This time, although a case was opened, the officers dismissed them with the excuse that it would take time to investigate. 0

Determined, Cheng Lianyan called her relatives again to continue the search. However, as they inquired further, they discovered more unsettling news: many children from nearby homes had also mysteriously disappeared. 0

"I would feel slightly reassured if it was just one person missing, but when I heard that so many children were gone... It became increasingly terrifying. Some had been missing for five years, others for two years or more. Suddenly four or five kids were unaccounted for without any news. I realized... I thought about it and told them I was very worried; something must have happened," she said. 0

One of the first missing children was a 12-year-old named Li Hanxiong, who vanished on May 1, 2007, while passing through a small road. Over the following years, four or five other teenagers aged sixteen or seventeen went missing from that same path. 0

At this point, Cheng Lianyan felt certain that this was not just a simple case of disappearances. Local residents speculated that the children had been sold to Black Brick Kilns or had fallen into pyramid schemes; some even believed they might have been sold for organ harvesting. 0

Cheng Lianyan reported these concerns to the local police station in hopes of raising awareness. To her surprise, the station's chief claimed they had not received any reports from those families and accused them of spreading rumors. 0

Seeing that the local police were unresponsive, Cheng Lianyan sought out journalists. She then connected with other families of missing children; together they printed flyers seeking information and hoped for media coverage. 0

Once the series of teenage disappearances gained public attention, it created quite a stir nationwide. 0

Subsequently, the police from Kunming City established a special task force and arrived in Jincheng Town. 0

After interviewing several families of the missing individuals, the task force believed that these children had likely been trafficked to Black Brick Kilns; at worst, they could have been kidnapped or murdered. 0

However, the task force leaned towards the first possibility since none of the families had received ransom notes. 0

After some discussion, the officers decided to start their investigation with the most recent disappearance case. 0

On the day Han Yao went missing, his ID had been registered at an internet café. Upon investigation, it turned out that a colleague had borrowed his ID to go online and that this colleague did not fit the profile of a suspect. 0

Subsequently, the task force conducted an investigation into the Black Brick Kilns surrounding Jincheng Town. At this point, the team found it strange that these Black Brick Kilns were engaged in illegal activities. 0

Over the years, the local police station could not have been unaware of this; it seemed that someone was colluding with the owners of the Black Brick Kilns for personal gain. 0

On May 7, 2012, with the assistance of the armed police, the task force dismantled dozens of Black Brick Kilns around Jincheng Town and rescued hundreds of victims from within. 0

However, there was still no trace of Han Yao and several other missing individuals. Could it be that these children had met with misfortune? 0

Just then, another group of officers gathered an important lead during their inquiries. 0

According to local villagers, on the night of December 1, 2011, a student named Zhang Jianyuan was passing through a small grove when he was suddenly choked by someone. Fortunately, Zhang Jianyuan fought back desperately and screamed for help until a neighbor came to his rescue. 0

The person who had choked Zhang Jianyuan was an old man named Zhang Yongming from South Gate Village. 0

This old man was no ordinary figure; at 56 years old, he had been sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve for murder back in 1979. He later showed good behavior in prison and had his sentence reduced multiple times before being released in 1997. 0

Although Zhang Jianyuan's family reported the incident to the police at the time, it did not receive enough attention. It wasn't until later when the cases of missing teenagers like Han Yao drew public concern that law enforcement began to re-examine Zhang Yongming's actions. 0

As the investigation deepened, this terrifying cannibalistic monster gradually came to light, awaiting severe punishment from the law. 0

This shocking case also served as a wake-up call for society, reminding us to always pay attention to the safety of our youth and to strengthen social security management to prevent similar tragedies from occurring again. 0
