Ma Yue was Shen Kun's senior and the one who introduced me to him.
After graduation, I lost touch with Ma Yue. However, five years later, many classmates were working locally, and we maintained a good relationship, occasionally gathering for a get-together. Ma Yue chose a bar in the city center for our reunion.
When I arrived, the private room was already filled with people. In addition to my university alumni, there were several unfamiliar faces. Ma Yue took on the role of introducing everyone.
I brought out my enthusiasm from back in the day and exchanged pleasantries with everyone until I spotted a familiar figure in the corner—Shen Kun. He sat casually with his legs crossed.
“Miao Miao, long time no see,” he said, a hint of a smile playing at the corners of his mouth, his expression meaningful.
My eyelids twitched, and I instinctively wanted to turn and leave. But everyone had already noticed us. I could only steel myself and approach him, extending my hand. “Mr. Shen, hello.”
Shen Kun took my hand, his fingertips brushing lightly against mine. It felt like an electric shock, and I quickly withdrew my hand and walked away briskly.
Ma Yue patted my shoulder and asked with a smile, “Do you know Shen Kun?”
I shook my head and explained, “It’s a work-related connection.”
Ma Yue nodded and didn’t press further. I picked up a drink and retreated to a corner to sip quietly.
After a few rounds of drinks, everyone started playing games. The game was none other than the infamous Truth or Dare.
The game rules were simple: spin the bottle, and whoever the bottle pointed at had to answer a question. At first, the questions were relatively normal. But gradually, they became more daring. I felt a chill run down my spine, fearing it would be my turn soon.
Ma Yue sat beside me, shielding me from quite a bit of alcohol. Across from me was Shen Kun, who occasionally smiled lightly, seemingly indifferent. Looking at his handsome face, I couldn't help but recall the scene from the meeting earlier that day. In truth, aside from his bad temper, Shen Kun had many admirable qualities.
"Fang Miaomiao."
Just as I was lost in thought, my name was suddenly called. I turned to see the bottle pointing directly at me. Shen Kun, sitting opposite me, was looking at me with a bright smile. My heart sank; I had a bad feeling about this.
"Truth or dare?"
"Truth."
I answered without hesitation. A dare might involve kissing someone or something equally embarrassing. Although I was single, there was no need to take it that far.
"Alright." The questioner was a girl who asked me, "Have you ever had a one-night stand?"
My mind went blank, and my cheeks instantly flushed red. That question was far too personal.
I pressed my lips together in silence, as the surrounding crowd erupted in cheers.
"Come on, just say it."
"Miao Miao, tell us, I'm really curious."
I lowered my head, unsure of how to respond.
If I said no, then what about the past thirty years of my life?
If I said yes, they would undoubtedly ask who that person was.
"Alright, alright, we won't put you on the spot anymore. Miao Miao, why don't you have a drink and skip this?"
Ma Yue came to my rescue.
I glanced at him gratefully and nodded.
I picked up my glass and downed it in one go.
No one pressed further; the topic was quickly brushed aside.
The game continued.
Shen Kun had been skipped twice already but had managed to cleverly evade each turn.
After several rounds, he was the only one who hadn’t been chosen.
Finally, someone grew impatient.
"Shen Kun, how come you always dodge it? No way, this time it has to start with you."
The person in charge of spinning the bottle placed it directly in front of him.
Shen Kun raised an eyebrow and chuckled, "Sure."
The bottle spun around a few times before pointing directly at him.
