As he spoke, he glanced at me, whether intentionally or not. My heart raced, and my mind felt like a jumble. So, he wasn't gay after all! I nervously picked up my cup and took a sip of water.
"Well... good luck," I said.
"Mm." He chuckled lightly and stood up to go to the parking lot to get his car, leaving me to wait in the shop.
I stood at the door to get some fresh air when suddenly, a voice rang out behind me.
"Director Fang, on a date?"
The tone was icy, laced with anger. I turned around, feeling guilty, and saw Shen Kun standing behind me, looking down at me from his height. I forced myself to appear calm.
"Mr. Shen, what a coincidence! You're here for dinner too? Why don't you go ahead with your business? I... I won't disturb you."
"Fang Miaomiao!"
He grabbed my wrist and leaned closer.
"You sure know how to hide."
"I..." I was so nervous that I couldn't find my words. Just then, Ma Yue returned in the car, looking for me inside the shop.
"Miao Miao, over here!"
Seeing him was like spotting a lifeline. I shook off Shen Kun's hand and waved at Ma Yue.
"Here!"
I quickly got into the car, avoiding Shen Kun's probing gaze. Ma Yue exchanged greetings with Shen Kun before starting the engine and driving away.
I let out a sigh of relief in the car. The scent inside was unique, and the soothing music made it hard not to relax. I turned my head to look at the scenery rushing by outside the window, my mind filled with images from that morning at the hotel. I shook my head.
This shouldn't be happening. I shouldn't be reacting so strongly to Shen Kun. Even if something did happen, it was a mutual affair; why should I feel guilty? A friend from the magazine had messaged me, saying Lin Miaoke was shooting the cover for a new issue today. I could take this opportunity to talk to her.
Early in the morning, I arrived outside the makeup room and patiently waited. Eventually, a person wrapped up tightly walked over, already applying foundation. Her skin was flawless, her face small—she was a beauty. I smiled and approached her to greet her.
"Hello, Miss Lin, I'm Fang Miaomiao, the advertising planner for L&C brand."
She nodded slightly. "Hello, Miss Fang."
I took out the Advertising Proposal and handed it to her. "Miss Lin, this is our brand's new product proposal; please take a look."
She accepted it and began to read carefully. I waited patiently.
Ten minutes later, she closed the proposal and looked at me. "Miss Fang, are you asking me to endorse L&C?"
"Yes."
"You do know that I only take endorsements from international big brands, right?"
"I understand."
I smiled and nodded.
"But I believe that L&C's future will never lose to those big brands. Its market share will definitely far exceed expectations."
I pointed at the introduction in the proposal, analyzing it point by point for Lin Miaoke.
"Miss Lin, although L&C is not considered a big brand right now, its market share has already surpassed many established names. I believe it won't be long before it overshadows them."
"And if you can secure the endorsement at this moment, not only will you receive a generous fee, but your fame will also increase significantly. Why not take the opportunity?"
Lin Miaoke frowned, seemingly deep in thought.
After a long pause, she nodded.
"You are right; I will talk to L&C."
"Great, thank you!"
I excitedly left the studio to share the good news with Shen Kun.
However, Shen Kun scoffed, his tone dripping with disdain.
"They actually agreed? Did you get Ma Yue to help you?"
"No!"
I felt a surge of anger. Even without Ma Yue, I could still win over Lin Miaoke.
"That's for the best. If I find out you're still in contact with him, you're finished!"
I shivered in fear and quickly hung up the phone.
