By the end, my hands were so weak that I could barely hold on, while Su Anrong seemed to be getting more and more excited, as if he had been injected with adrenaline. For the first time, I felt that having too much money wasn't necessarily a good thing.
If it weren't for Su Anrong's looks, the staff would probably have kicked us out by now.
"Garlic paste, that's enough!" At this point, I was already in the same boat as him. If he really pulled out Hell Coins to buy something, the staff would likely take me down with him.
I gestured for him to lean down and whispered in his ear, "Forget it, you don't need to buy it. I was just joking; I don't like wearing rings."
He grabbed my ear and whispered back, "How do you know I wasn't planning to buy?"
"What?" I was taken aback! All the blood rushed to my head! I was trying to give him face, but he really wasn't giving me any! He never intended to buy it from the start? Then what was the point of trying on so many?
"Excuse me, sir and miss, which one have you chosen?" The staff seemed to sense something was off and asked urgently.
At this point, relying solely on Su Anrong's face probably wouldn't calm her down anymore.
I truly wished I could just disappear from this world right then.
"Garlic paste, hurry up, let's go invisible!" I whispered urgently.
"We're out of time." He looked serious as he stared ahead.
I looked up and nearly fainted. The staff had probably been ready to call security long ago; four burly men stood in front of us, cracking their knuckles, just waiting to turn us into human patties.
"You annoying brat, you've gotten me into trouble!" I gritted my teeth in anger, forcing myself to stay calm as I turned to the staff with a smile. "We'll take that one, but it seems you don't have my size. Can you alter it?"
Yes, with that excuse we could leave! I was so clever!
But little did I know that the staff had seen through everything. With a fake smile that didn't reach her eyes, she said, "I'm sorry, miss, but we've decided not to sell to you." As she spoke, she signaled to a few security guards, and I immediately felt like four mountains were closing in on me.
Yet Su Anrong remained unfazed beside me and even mocked me: "If you're scared, just hold on tight."
"To hell with you!" I could hardly contain my anger; I wanted nothing more than to smash that smug face of his. And now he wanted a hug? He must have lost his mind.
But before I could finish my thought, I felt myself being lifted off the ground. Su Anrong had actually picked me up without a care in the world. With a firm grip on my backside, I found myself dangling from him.
"Be careful not to fall," he murmured, and then with two swift punches, he knocked out the faces of the two security guards closest to us. Taking advantage of their shock, he took off running.
Oh my God, he was ruining my reputation! How could he still have the audacity to hit someone else?
"Catch them! Hurry!" The security guards shouted frantically behind us, and some concerned bystanders, thinking we were thieves, joined in the chase.
"Su Anrong, hurry! They're going to catch up!" Despite my intense hatred for him at that moment, there was no turning back. If we got caught, I wouldn't be able to show my face in this city again.
But Su Anrong deliberately slowed down. "Call me husband."
What a jerk!
I gritted my teeth, refusing to give in.
He slowed down even more.
"You think you can catch us? If you do, I'll break your legs!" The pursuers were getting closer, their threats echoing behind us.
I felt like I was on a sinking ship with no way out. Clenching my fists, I reluctantly spat out those humiliating words: "Husband."
"Hmm?" He pressed further.
"Yeah, whatever! Just run! If you get me caught and they break my legs, I'll make sure you never have children!" I had always imagined being gentle and graceful in front of handsome men, making them fall at my feet. But here I was, forced into a corner by Su Anrong and reduced to a shrew.
Dad, Mom, I'm so sorry. No amount of good upbringing can withstand the dark realities of society!
"Listening to my wife is my honor." Su Anrong looked at me, his eyes radiating a powerful magnetism that nearly made me fall under his spell again.
Just when I thought he was going to kiss me again, he actually did!
This jerk, even at a time like this, was still thinking about that kind of thing!
I gritted my teeth in anger, but there was nothing I could do. Instead, his kiss left me feeling weak all over, and I involuntarily closed my eyes.
When I opened my eyes again, I found myself sitting in his car.
"So you can teleport!"
"Of course I can do something so simple." He said this without a hint of modesty, smiling at me. "Do you want to do it again?"
"Sure!" Forgive me for being so weak; teleportation is something out of a fantasy novel, and I had just experienced it firsthand! After being kissed into a daze, I hadn't truly appreciated the feeling of teleportation. Of course, I wanted to experience it properly again.
Who would have thought he would suddenly lean in closer? I slapped his face away.
He dodged quickly, and I hit nothing but air.
"Pervert!"
"You were the one who said you wanted to do it again." His handsome face, which could make anyone jealous, now wore a look of feigned innocence that almost melted my heart.
I took a deep breath and decided not to stoop to his level.
"I meant teleportation, not kissing, you lecher!"
"Since you don't have the ability to teleport yourself, the only way for you to move with me is through a kiss. That kiss is the medium through which I share my teleportation skill with you. There are many other skills too, like flying or walking through walls, which can also be shared this way. Just let me know anytime if you want to experience them." He spoke seriously, but I could clearly see the smugness in his eyes.
"What would I want those for? Those are abilities that geniuses have; I don't need them!" I said the words reluctantly.
"I am Ling."
"Alright, alright, Ling, let's move on!" I held back my anger, not wanting to talk to him any longer.
"Which ring did you like from the ones we just tried?" He seemed completely oblivious to my irritation and dared to bring it up again!
"I didn't like any of them!"
"Then let's go again..."
"Su Anrong!" If I didn't interrupt him now, I would eventually lose my temper and explode. "I don't care how many years you've been a ghost!"
"Ling."
"I don't care how many years you've been a spirit. You said it yourself—since you've come to this world, you should follow the customs here. Trying on all the rings in the store without any intention of buying is something that would get you scolded or even beaten in our world! You have no shame; you think it's fine, but I still care about my reputation! If you want to throw a tantrum and act unreasonable, go ahead. I'm not going to put up with it!"
I got out of the car and slammed the door with all my might, making a loud bang to show my anger.
Other male leads pamper their female leads endlessly; why am I so unlucky?
I hadn't taken more than a couple of steps when Su Anrong blocked my path.
He looked genuinely remorseful. Seeing such an expression on a handsome face made my heart soften immediately, but what he said next almost made me want to bang my head against a wall.
"But didn’t the clerk say we could try them on?"
"That’s only if you actually intend to buy one! You had no intention of purchasing anything and tried them all on instead. Isn’t that just playing with people?"
Focus on his face... I kept telling myself that looking at his face would help ease my anger. After all, this is a world where looks matter, and he just happened to be exactly my type.
"Then I'll go buy a few."
"Don't!" I quickly grabbed his hand. "I don't want to die yet!" Even if I went back to buy it now, I'd probably get beaten up, not to mention I didn't trust him to actually make the purchase.
He held my hand with a tender grip and confidently said, "It's okay, I'm not that easy to kill, and I won't let you die either."
Seeing his determination, my heart softened. All my frustration melted into helplessness. "Fine, whatever. Just don't do this kind of thing again next time."
In the end, I reluctantly followed him into the car.
Who would have thought that before I could even settle in, he asked again, "So, which one do you like?"
"Garlic!" I nearly shouted in anger.
He immediately clarified, "What I mean is, which one do you like? I'll change the ring you're wearing into that style."
"What do you mean? Change?"
He nodded seriously. "I thought all girls liked big diamond rings. A few hundred years ago, I saw a particular design, so I changed it to that for you. I didn't expect it would cause you so much trouble."
"So this ring is something you changed? You didn't steal it from Qiao Lianjiu?"
