"I don't need it," I said, my head spinning from my mother's shaking as I laughed awkwardly. 0

"Right, once you have a husband, you forget about your mother, huh?" My mom scolded me angrily, but eventually sat down and spoke gently, "Wheat, you need to take me seriously. I'm not joking. When you were born, you didn't even have a heartbeat. The doctors declared you a stillborn. I couldn't bear to let you go, so I held you a little longer, and to my surprise, you started crying!" 0

"You've told me this countless times already. It's the greatness of maternal love that brought me back to life. Mom, I really appreciate you giving me two lives, but I really want to sleep now. If you keep going on like this, you'll have to figure out how to give me a third life!" 0

"I've told you many times, but I've only shared the beginning of the story, not the ending." 0

"I'm not dead yet, so of course there's no ending," I pouted. 0

My mom glared at me with an expression that said she was frustrated with my lack of seriousness. Suddenly, I sensed something was off. 0

Oh dear, my own mother! 0

Why is she crying? Tears are streaming down her face! 0

Realizing I might have gone too far with my words, I quickly apologized, "Alright, alright, I'm sorry, Mom. Can you forgive me this once? Just tell me what you want to say; I'm all ears! Be a good baby and stop crying!" 0

As I spoke, I hurriedly wiped her tears away. 0

She chuckled through her tears and swatted my hand away. "You’re such a jokester. Do you know what happened next?" 0

I feigned curiosity and widened my eyes at her. "What happened?" 0

"When you cried again, the doctors were shocked and immediately ran another check on you. They told me that you didn't have a heart! That's why they couldn't hear a heartbeat!" 0

"Hahaha! That doctor must be joking!" I exclaimed. How could a living person not have a heart? 0

Wait… Suddenly, a memory flashed in my mind of what the Old Hag Ghost had said: the Supreme Spirit Tool has no heart! Could it be…? 0

"Yeah, I yelled at that doctor like crazy and then took you away, never to set foot in that hospital again. I had just come out of surgery, and your dad was crying, begging me not to be impulsive, but I still left. I couldn't let anyone say my daughter was dead for no reason, especially not that she didn't have a heart!" My mother spoke with great indignation, and I felt a warm ache in my heart. 0

"Exactly, Mom, you're amazing!" This time it was heartfelt; I couldn't imagine the pain and courage it took for someone who had just given birth to hold their child and leave the hospital. 0

But my mother quickly calmed down, sighing as she continued, "I always thought it was the hospital's fault. But when you turned one, a Yin-Yang Master told us that we were never meant to be mother and daughter; someone had forcibly altered your fate so you could be born from my womb." 0

"You believed that nonsense? It's just a scam to get money from you!" 0

"Yeah, that's what I thought too. But the person didn’t want my money at all; they said you would be fine until you turned eighteen. After that, the seal would be lifted, and your fate would officially begin, leading you into a calamity. That Peach Wood Sword was given to us by that person; they said it could slay demons and protect you when necessary. I didn’t take their words seriously at first, but now..." 0

"Mom, you're overthinking it. I'm perfectly fine now; what calamity could there possibly be?" 0

"Is this really 'fine'? Just recently, that Zhang Dayong from downstairs died in a car accident!" 0

"What does that have to do with me?" I shrugged dismissively. 0

"And what about Xiao Chen from your dorm?" 0

"That was an accident too! I wasn't even in the dorm when it happened!" Since my mother had shared so much with me, I decided not to hide anything and didn't deny Chen Siyuan's death. But suddenly I remembered—wasn't she out all night looking for that creepy guy who confessed to me before her accident? 0

Could her death be related to him? 0

"What about Suanrong and Youyu? Don't give me any nonsense about malnutrition; even if Youyu really came from your belly, how could they grow up so fast? What exactly are those two?" 0

"What else could they be? They're obviously human!" I said sheepishly. 0

My mother huffed angrily, "Do you really think I'm stupid? I heard everything you said to Youyu last night. The medicines Youyu gave me are all exorcism drugs—how could an ordinary person have those?" 0

"Alright, since you heard everything, I'll tell you the truth: Su Anrong is an Exorcist. The Rice medicines are all from him. They work wonders against demons and monsters; you must keep them safe. Oh, and make sure Rice clears out all those Beauty Serums and similar drugs later. We can't let those ghosts benefit any longer." 0

Mom's eyes lit up. "An Exorcist? Are there really people with that profession in the world?" 0

"Of course! Didn't you meet a Yin-Yang Master over a decade ago? Exorcists are pretty much in the same circle." 0

As soon as I finished speaking, Mom suddenly stood up and ran outside. 0

What is she up to? I hurriedly followed her. 0

Mom dashed into the living room and said to Su Anrong, who was fixing the door, "Rongrong, so you're an Exorcist! It's an honor to meet you; please allow me to pay my respects!" After saying that, she actually bowed, then added, "Leave the door repairs to your dad. Hey, kid's father, get up and fix the door before going back to sleep!" 0

Dad seemed to have been waiting for Mom's command for a while and quickly rushed out of their bedroom. 0

However, before he could steady himself, Su Anrong calmly revealed the truth: "Mom, I'm not an Exorcist; I'm a spirit." 0

I was about to explode. I had been giving him hints for ages, and he still insisted on saying it out loud! 0

After he spoke, he suddenly realized he might have misspoken and looked surprised. "Wheat, didn't you communicate properly?" 0

Mom looked displeased, thinking I had tricked her. Fortunately, she didn't know what a spirit was. "What is a spirit?" 0

Su Anrong then smiled broadly and said, "Mom, spirits include all kinds of beings like demons and monsters. I'm a Spirit Master; you can actually think of it as an Exorcist. The meaning is pretty much the same. Just choose whichever term you find easier to accept!" 0

I shot him a glare; at least he managed to smooth things over with that explanation. 0

Mom and Dad gradually came back to their senses from the shock. "I see now; of course, a Spirit Master is just that. There's no reason to call it an Exorcist. We can accept that, right, kid's father?" 0

"Yes, yes! We can accept it! Son-in-law, you don't need to worry about the door anymore; hurry up and take a shower before going to bed!" 0

Su Anrong really liked Dad's last remark about "taking a shower," but he still pressed on: "Mom, about Wheat tonight..." 0

My mother completely forgot that she had just said I should sleep with her. "Of course, Wheat, you should go back to your own room. You two lovebirds should cultivate your relationship. Haha!" 0

Haha? She actually laughed!? 0

Mom, could you be a bit more subtle when selling your daughter? 0

I was really curious about what had happened to Su Anrong in the Underworld, so I didn't strongly refuse to share a room with him this time. Besides, we had already slept together last night. 0

But I never expected that after his shower, he would come in wearing only a towel wrapped around his waist! 0

"Don't worry, Mom and Dad have already gone back to their room. There's no one outside," he said smugly as he closed the door. 0

His well-defined muscles made my face flush bright red like an apple, and I snapped, "There’s no one outside, but there’s someone inside!" 0

"This person inside isn’t a stranger, so there’s no need to hide anything," he said, and before I could react, he suddenly yanked off the towel. 0

I screamed and shut my eyes in shock, only to hear him laughing heartily. 0

Realizing something was off, I slowly peeked through my fingers and felt my anger flare up. Grabbing a pillow, I threw it at him. "You jerk!" 0

"Darling, are you disappointed to see me in pants?" he grinned wickedly as he climbed onto the bed. 0

I quickly shrank back. "Don’t come any closer! If you do, I’ll scream for help!" 0
