"What's wrong?" Lin You's movement froze as she turned to look at me. 0

I waved in her direction, "Mumu, come over here to your sister." 0

"Okay." 0

Lin You couldn't see these things, and my sudden words made her expression turn pale. "Is there a ghost?" 0

"Yes, right where you were about to sit, it's a little boy." I wasn't lying; I hugged Mumu and greeted her, "Mumu, say hello to Sister You." 0

"Hello, Sister You," Mumu called out, but when she noticed Lin You didn't react at all, she turned back to me. "Sister, can't she hear?" 0

"No." 0

"So she's useless," Mumu pouted and took the little car Shizui had given her to play with nearby. 0

"…" 0

"Anxin, what did he just say?" 0

"He said you can't hear." I waved my hand; if Lin You found out that this little ghost called her useless, she'd probably glare at me again. "Xiao You, I chose this place not for you to go sightseeing but because this little ghost needs my help with something, so I have to go. Do you want to come along?" 0

"Of course I must go!" Lin You tossed her hair back and immediately became excited. "How can we miss such a beautiful place? Even if there are ghosts there, we have an even stronger one here! Right?" 0

I pouted and glanced at Jun Chong. He snorted coldly and turned his head away, neither agreeing nor disagreeing. 0

Shizui smiled instead. "Since you all want to go, I'll book the tickets for you! I have some connections there; it will be easier." 0

"Really? Mr. Shizui is going with us?" 0

Shizui shook his head. "I have other matters and can't go." 0

Once we decided where to go, we each returned home to prepare. Shizui's efficiency was extraordinary; that very night, he informed us that he had booked the rooms. All we needed to do was mention his name upon arrival. 0

The next day, the two of us and two spirits set off on our journey. 0

Liang City was quite a distance from where we were, and flying there didn't make much sense due to layovers. Taking the train was the most convenient option, so Shizui thoughtfully reserved a private compartment for us, complete with sleeping berths, since we would be on the train for a full day and night. 0

"Actually, we could have flown there in a flash," Mumu complained, pouting as he sat on my lap. He was no longer afraid of me because there was someone even more intimidating around. This made him cling to me, realizing that the fiercer presence wouldn’t dare to act against me. 0

I looked at his delicate features and thought that with proper guidance, he could become an exceptional spirit in the future. 0

"But we need to pretend we're on vacation, so we have to take this route," I said, patting his head. "It's getting late; you should go to sleep early." 0

"But I'm a ghost; I can stay up late." 0

"Then why don't you ask that one?" 0

I pointed at Jun Chong, who had been lying silently on the upper bunk since we boarded the train. Mumu's expression changed immediately; he shrank into my embrace and whined, "Anxin sister, can I sleep with you?" 0

"No way." 0

Before I could finish my sentence, Mumu slipped from my arms as Jun Chong had suddenly grabbed him by the collar and lifted him off the ground. 0

"Hey, put him down! What are you doing to a child?" 0

"You can't have the scent of other spirits on you; it's unpleasant." Jun Chong raised his hand slightly and tossed Mumu onto the upper bunk of his bed. "You are not allowed to come down without my command. Sleep!" 0

Mumu pouted, about to cry, but Jun Chong glared at him. "No crying." 0

With tears in his eyes, he looked at me with great grievance. I could only smile gently and reassure him, "Rest well; I'll play with you again tomorrow morning." 0

"But sister, ghosts play at night and rest during the day." 0

I exchanged glances with Jun Chong, stunned, because he had always adjusted to my schedule, completely forgetting that the activities of ghosts differ from those of humans. 0

"Don't sleep, just lie down. You're not allowed to get up." 0

Mumu was on the verge of tears, squatting in the corner of the bed, one hand continuously drawing circles on the blanket, looking utterly adorable. 0

I chuckled awkwardly, realizing that Lin You had yet to return and it was getting late. I prepared to go look for her. "Keep an eye on Mumu; I'm going to find Xiao You." 0

"No way." 0

I was speechless; this was the phrase he used most often after returning. 0

"Why not?" 0

"This train isn't safe; it's best not to go out at night." 0

"What about Xiao You? She didn't bring her phone." 0

Jun Chong helplessly rubbed his forehead, impatience etched on his brow, but there was nothing he could do. "I'll go find her. But you are not allowed to go out. Stay put." 0

"Okay." 0

I smiled faintly. Even though Jun Chong had lost his memory and had been harsh with me due to the Twinborn Vine incident, he had always stayed by my side. Perhaps he was just worried about me today? 0

Thinking this way made my heart feel sweet. I took out my things and turned to the bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face. 0

Mumu lay on the bed, truly afraid to get down. Watching me happily, she suddenly asked, "Does Anxin sister like that fierce brother?" 0

"Yes." I squeezed toothpaste onto my brush and filled it with water. "He’s just fierce because he lost his memory, but deep down he’s very kind!" 0

"But I think the Big Brother at the store is better; he even gave Mumu toys." 0

"Even though he's nice, he's not yours. And even if something of yours isn't great, as long as there's heart behind it, you'll still be happy." 0

"I don't understand." 0

"You'll understand when you grow up. To love someone is to be willing to be shattered without regret." 0

I lowered my head to brush my teeth, but after a few strokes, I felt a wave of nausea. This had been happening occasionally lately, but I didn't think much of it. I gagged a few times and continued brushing, then washed my face. By the time I finally emerged after some time, Jun Chong and Lin You still hadn't returned. 0

"Could something have happened?" 0

Although Jun Chong was powerful, he had been gone for a while, and their absence worried me. I feared something might have gone wrong. Still, I obediently waited, but after nearly fifteen minutes with no sign of them, I couldn't stay still any longer. 0

"Sister, Brother said you can't go out." 0

"It's fine; I'm just taking a look." 0

"No, Sister, there's something at the door." Mumu suddenly hid under the blanket in fear, and Little trembled. When I turned to look at him, my hand had already opened the door. A chill swept over my neck, mixed with a faint taste of blood. 0

My spine stiffened; I knew something bad was at the door. 0

"Meat... meat... do you want to buy meat?" 0

I slowly turned around, one hand reaching for the hairpin at my left waist and gripping it tightly. A deep voice kept calling out about selling meat, and the smell of blood mixed with cooked meat hit me. 0

As I turned to face it, I saw a hulking figure standing at the door—an enormous man covered in flesh. With his voice, his body quivered like jelly; he was the epitome of a big fat man. 0

When he saw me turn back, he grinned widely. As he tilted his head, I heard a sickening "Gla" sound; his head fell off. He didn't seem to mind as he bent down to pick up his head with his hands, but there was too much flesh on his belly for him to bend over properly. He could only ask me for help. 0

"Can you help me pick up my head?" 0

I looked at the glasses on that head rolling around; its eyes were hollow and lifeless, staring blankly ahead. 0

"Can you help me pick up my head?" 0

The big man spoke again. Seeing that I remained unmoved, he asked once more, "Do you want to buy meat? Both raw and cooked are available." 0

"I don't need it." 0

I reached out to close the door, but he slammed his hand against it with great force, pushing me back a few steps. "You have to buy it. Do you want it raw or cooked?" 0

Although I had no idea what he was, I knew that some things from certain beings should not be casually agreed to buy, or else trouble would follow. 0

Seeing that I remained silent, the big man took a step back and squatted down, cradling his head in his hands. Then, as if putting on a hat, he placed it on his head, only to accidentally put it on backward. 0

"Oh no, it's on wrong! Help me out!" 0

"Get lost!" 0

I kicked him in the stomach, but due to the vast difference in our strength, he didn't budge an inch while I ended up hurting my foot. 0

"You kicked me! That hurts." 0

"…" 0

I'm the one who's hurt here! 0

Despite being overweight and unable to squat down properly, he turned around with surprising agility. His massive frame made the whole compartment shake with his movements as he struggled to twist his head around. 0

"Don't come any closer!" 0

I watched him refuse to back off, gripping my hairpin tightly in front of me. The pin's glimmer gave me a sense of confidence. 0

"Buy meat." 0

"Sister, you absolutely cannot agree to him! If you buy it, it'll be over." Mumu's muffled voice came from under the blanket, revealing a pair of innocent big eyes warning me. 0

"A child?" 0

Before I could respond, the big man suddenly pushed me out forcefully, my back hitting the edge of the table painfully. Meanwhile, for some reason, he became excited and his movements grew more agile. 0

"Help me, sister!" 0

As Mumu cried out, I realized that the big man had somehow grabbed her. Mumu's tiny body was as fragile as a little chick in his hands, tears streaming down her face as she sobbed and begged for my help. 0

"What a delicious smell of meat." 0

The big man drooled over Mumu, looking like someone who had been starving for ages, staring hungrily at a feast laid out before him, ready to devour it whole. 0

I could only endure the pain and try to get up, but I suspected my spine had been injured. My legs felt numb, and a chilling pain shot through my back and into my feet, making it impossible to rise. 0

The glow of the Hairpin suddenly intensified, but I couldn't reach the big man. Even if I threw it, it might not work; if I lost the Hairpin, I wouldn't just be unable to save myself—I would also endanger Mumu. 0

"Sister, help me!" 0

Mumu's cries echoed painfully in my ears, but the big man remained unmoved. His mouth slowly widened, growing larger and larger until it resembled that of a rattlesnake, capable of swallowing a person whole. 0

His hand was gradually pushing Mumu toward his mouth, and her cries grew more desperate. I felt frantic as I tried to stand up several times without success. In that moment, I disregarded everything else and threw the Hairpin with all my strength at the big man. 0

"Hairpin, you must hit him! Save Mumu!" 0
