"What's going on with this light? Waiter, go check it out. Can we even eat in peace?" 0

"Exactly, or we'll file a complaint." 0

... 0

The flickering lights sparked a lot of discussion, and the waiter immediately went to inform the Duty Manager. 0

The surroundings fell silent, and I didn't feel anything unusual. However, Mumu was curled up in my arms, trembling with fear. 0

He was a ghost, and his sensitivity to other spirits was sharper than that of humans, so I suspected there might be some truth to it. 0

I reached out and gently patted Mumu's adorable head, whispering, "Mumu, tell me, where is that ghost?" 0

"There!" 0

Mumu pointed toward the corridor leading to the restroom. The lights there were completely out, shrouded in darkness where nothing could be seen. Yet Mumu kept shrinking back into my embrace, his innocent voice tinged with fear. "It's just like what I encountered with Granny Mi. It's really scary." 0

"Hey, did you find something?" Lin You tapped my hand. I lifted my chin slightly. "Mumu says there's a female ghost by the restroom." 0

"Ah, sister, I'm scared. Let's go." 0

"What?" 0

As soon as Mumu finished speaking, he jumped out of my arms and ran outside. At the same time, the lights flickered even more violently, and the murmurs of discontent grew louder around us. 0

"Everyone, please remain calm. There's an issue with the electrical box; we've already sent someone to fix it." 0

The middle-aged man who stepped forward to explain was tonight's Duty Manager. Although the temperature here wasn't particularly hot and felt somewhat cool, he kept wiping his forehead with a tissue, looking slightly flustered. 0

I kept a close watch on my surroundings, feeling that the darkness was off. A chilling cold enveloped me, as if I were walking among icebergs in winter, causing me to shiver inexplicably. 0

As the lights flickered, I suddenly saw a woman appear in the corridor near the restroom. Her red dress was more vibrant than any ordinary shade of red, making the surrounding colors seem dull in comparison. Her eyes were vacant and hollow, and she moved with a slow, limping gait. 0

Yet her figure was swift; in the blink of an eye, she had already moved several meters away. 0

Suddenly, she stopped and looked down at the ground. Something rolled out from beneath her long skirt. Squinting, I realized it was a foot, rolling to the side of a dining table. Just then, a man stood up angrily to confront the manager and accidentally stepped on that foot. With a slip, the foot rolled under a chair. 0

"What is this?" The man muttered as he looked down but saw nothing. 0

At that moment, someone let out a piercing scream, pointing at the path in front of the man in terror. "Blood! There’s blood dripping down—so much!" 0

Everyone looked down and then back up, realizing there was nothing on the ceiling. The blood drops were clearly falling from mid-air. I looked up and saw that they were dripping from the ghost's dress—likely from where her foot had been severed. 0

Screams erupted all around as people rushed to escape. 0

"Everyone stay calm! This is just a little game we’re playing," the manager frantically reassured everyone, but who would believe him at that moment? 0

"Ah—my foot won’t move! Something is grabbing my foot!" The man from earlier screamed like a pig being slaughtered, his legs trembling uncontrollably. 0

"It’s a ghost! It must be a ghost! Run!" 0

I remained seated and noticed that the woman in red had grasped the man's ankle and was desperately trying to lift his foot. Her hoarse voice carried a hint of helplessness. "Lift your foot! My foot... my foot." 0

But as she exerted herself, her arm lifted while her hand remained stuck to his ankle, gripping tightly. 0

"Ah! My hand! My hand!" 0

The ghost stared in horror at her right arm, trying to reclaim it as the man fled. Her hand remained glued to his ankle. She immediately tried to chase after him but moved too slowly to catch up, only able to hoarsely shout, "Don’t run! Give me back my hand! Give it back!" 0

The man ran quickly but then someone shouted, "There’s a severed hand on your foot!" At that moment, he screamed again and fainted on the spot. 0

The female ghost relentlessly pursued him, finally catching up to the man. Just then, a hefty figure burst in, crashing into the ghost and sending her sprawling. He hoisted the man onto his shoulder and turned to flee. 0

Caught off guard by the impact, the ghost felt her body disintegrate, her limbs detaching from her torso. Dazed, she collapsed to the ground, glancing around in confusion, her panic escalating. 0

"My hands, my feet." 0

"Anxin, what are you staring at? Hurry up and go!" Lin You urged, shaking me out of my stupor and pulling me away. 0

This was the first time I had seen such a ghost. She exuded little malice; even the Qilin Hairpin at her waist showed no reaction. She didn’t seem like a creature that would frighten Mumu so deeply. 0

Yet I could certainly feel the panic radiating from Mumu. 0

Just as Lin You was dragging me toward the exit of the restaurant, a sudden chill swept through the air, sharp and bone-chilling, reminiscent of Mumu's initial feelings of dread. 0

I stumbled slightly, feeling a sharp pain in my left side—a warning that danger was near. 0

The female ghost also became increasingly frantic, her eyes wide with terror as she stared at the spot where she had just emerged. 0

"Though I may be ugly, I'm hungry. Just let me eat you!" 0

Though I couldn't see any ghostly figure accompanying the voice, Lin You was pulling me forcefully outside while my gaze remained fixed on that spot. 0

The ghost struggled to turn herself over, trying to crawl away with her chin dragging on the ground. Her movements were painfully slow, akin to that of a snail. At that moment, a thick worm slithered out from the shadows, its mouth filled with sharp teeth, and it bit down on the ghost's head. 0

The ghost thrashed wildly as her eyes widened in despair. "Help me! It's her—Earthbound Spirit! Save—" 0

Before she could finish her plea, the worm devoured her head and then her neck with alarming speed. 0

The worm was coated in slime that dripped onto the floor—a dark green liquid that sizzled upon contact. A few drops splattered onto the woman's body, instantly transforming it into a pool of blood. 0

After consuming the woman, the worm continued its feast by devouring the severed limbs scattered on the ground. 0

I covered my mouth with one hand, feeling a wave of nausea rising in my stomach. The sickening sensation climbed up to my throat, and I turned my head to gag. I hadn't eaten much that evening, and with that heave, all that came up was sour bile. 0

"Anxin, what's wrong?" Lin You bent down to support me, worry etched across her face. "I'll take you to see a doctor." 0

"I'm fine." 0

I wiped my mouth and stood up straight, only to see the bug that had been about to retreat suddenly change direction and fly toward me. 0

It moved so quickly that I barely had time to reach for the Qilin Hairpin before it was right in front of me. In that moment, I instinctively stepped in front of Lin You and raised my hand to shield her. 0

Suddenly, a bright light burst forth between us, radiating brilliantly and illuminating all the darkness. The bug seemed to be shocked, retreating abruptly as if it had been electrocuted. 0

"Don't you dare harm my mother! Get away!" 0

My legs went weak, and I stumbled backward, everything spinning around me. My ears buzzed as if I could hear a vague voice speaking beside me, but I couldn't make out what was being said. 0

"Demon Fetus? I need to tell the master about this." 0

A mournful voice echoed from the shadows, carrying a chilling tone. It murmured that phrase before vanishing into thin air. 0

I blinked, confused about what she meant. Demon Fetus? Who was that? 0

"Anxin, what's wrong?" Lin You used her strength to drag me outside. "Let's talk once we're out." 0

Just as we reached the door, I turned back and caught a glimpse of something dark in the bathroom corner—a flash of red fabric fluttering in the wind before disappearing. It was just a fleeting moment, but the Qilin Hairpin reacted, sending chills down my spine as a cold breeze swept through. 0

Once outside and breathing in the fresh air, I felt significantly lighter, the earlier confusion dissipating. 0

Lin You eagerly asked me, "Did you see a ghost?" 0

"Yeah. She was eaten by another monster; it was disgusting." I frowned at the thought of that scene and felt another wave of nausea rising. 0

"Lin You," patted me, smiling, "What are you afraid of? We have Jun Chong with us." 0

"Hmph." A cold snort pierced my eardrum, as if it were whispered right next to my ear, carrying a familiar chill. I turned to see Jun Chong's broad robe dancing in the fierce wind not far away. 0

Mumu stood beside him, waving at me. 0

"Mumu." 0

"Sister!" Mumu ran over and hugged my legs, her little face streaked with tears. "Sister, I was so scared just now, but I couldn't save you. I could only go find Big Brother." 0

"So that light just now was you?" 0

I picked up Mumu and walked over to Jun Chong. He didn't even glance at me and turned to walk into the darkness, two cold words drifting back with the wind: "Not me." 0

"Not you?" I trusted Jun Chong; he had no reason to lie about such things. "Then who saved us?" 0

Suddenly, I remembered that voice and set Mumu down to chase after him. "Jun Chong, what is the Demon Fetus?" 0

To my surprise, Jun Chong's body trembled, and he stopped in his tracks. 0
