I sat quietly on the ground, all my worries and fears dissipating, leaving only a heavy sense of oppression in my heart, making it hard to breathe. Looking at the empty street, I suddenly smiled, tears still flowing because they wouldn't stop. 0

Mu Yan handed me a handkerchief. I glanced at it, shook my head, and looked up at Mu Yan, smiling as I asked, "Is that person under the big red Cherry Blossom Tree Jun Chong?" 0

Mu Yan nodded. "Yes, it's him. He said if you found out you had become a Courtesan of North City, you would definitely write that answer instead of the correct one." 0

I forced a grin, unable to muster any strength to laugh. "Then why does he know that the answer I wrote would definitely catch the attention of the King of the Underworld?" 0

Mu Yan paused for a moment, her gaze wandering slightly as she bit her lip in hesitation. 0

"At this point, what is there to hesitate about? I can handle anything." 0

"Anxin." She looked at me with concern, her brows furrowed tightly as she sighed heavily. "Because someone has said that answer to the King of the Underworld before, he will definitely be curious about you. Perhaps it is truly fate; the Lord said that if you hadn't said that back then, he could have imprisoned you tightly instead of letting you go." 0

"Who was that person?" 0

Mu Yan shook her head. "That's a private matter between the King of the Underworld and the Lord; I don't know." 0

I gazed at the dazzling sunlight, hugging my legs with my hands and resting my chin on my knees. Seeing me like this, Mu Yan simply sat down beside me, her voice gentle like ripples flowing through water. 0

"Anxin, time is short. I know this matter must be reported to the Lord, and I will surely be punished for it, but I really don't want you to be like this. I know you deeply love the Lord, so I don't want you to reach a point of despair." 0

"Why are you helping me?" 0

Mu Yan turned to look at me; her gaze held too many emotions to decipher, but one thing was certain. 0

"Because only you can save the Lord. Anxin, promise me you will save him; he has suffered too much over these years. Sometimes even Rong Zhi and I can't bear to watch him. So when he feels something again, we are genuinely happy. Rong Zhi said that in the human world, the Lord is very happy because he has you by his side." 0

"Did he love someone deeply before, right?" 0

Mu Yan nodded, and just as she was about to speak, I interrupted her. "I really want to know, but I'm also afraid because I fear that I might just be a substitute for that person. So maybe you shouldn't say anything." 0

Wiping away my tears, I stood up from the ground. The sudden movement caused a brief dizziness, but thankfully Mu Yan supported me. "What's wrong with you?" 0

"I'm fine." I gently brushed her hand away and leaned against the wall. "Mu Yan, thank you for telling me so much. I know what I need to do now." 0

"Anxin." Mu Yan frowned, her expression complicated. She opened her mouth several times before finally speaking. "Seeing you like this makes me feel that what we did today was wrong. Perhaps if you didn't know, you would fare better." 0

"That's true." 0

I looked up at the sky and smiled faintly. 0

"The despair encountered unknowingly can indeed be overwhelming; many people can't bear it. But knowing everything doesn't necessarily lead to despair because—" I lowered my head and pressed my finger against my chest, feeling its rhythm. "Because despair has already merged into my blood, becoming part of me. If I'm to die, it would only be a matter of losing my soul!" 0

Mu Yan flinched and reached out to touch me, but I stepped back a few paces to avoid her. 0

"Anxin, don't do anything foolish." 0

"I won't do anything foolish because like you, I hope for Jun Chong's success." I fixed my gaze on her strikingly beautiful eyes and smirked slightly. "Today, you showed me the real purpose behind all this wasn't just to prepare me! It's more about not wanting me to unknowingly ruin your plans; I understand that." 0

Mu Yan's expression froze for a moment before paling, then she smiled. "Yes, so do you hate me?" 0

"Why would I hate you?" 0

I opened my arms wide and looked up at the brilliance ahead as the Wind Sound blew gently, carrying the scent of dust. 0

"You care for him, I love him, and we both do it for him, so there is no room for hatred. I am grateful that you let me know all this today; that is enough for me." 0

"Anxin." 0

"Mu Yan, don't worry, I know what I should do." I withdrew my arms and smiled at her. "Let me go back! Who knows how long it's been? It would be terrible if I got discovered." 0

Mu Yan said nothing more. Our palms faced each other and then slowly parted. A black vortex appeared between our hands, and before long, the dark figure that had tricked me into coming here emerged from the vortex; that very vortex was its head. 0

"Take her back." 0

"Yes." 0

The hoarse voice was unpleasant, as if it had torn its throat, producing a sound like sawing wood. It approached me, and I felt that pull once again. I smiled faintly at Mu Yan and closed my eyes. 0

"Mu Yan, I love him, so I willingly give everything for him, even if he deceives and uses me; it is my choice. And I do all this not for anything else but to ensure he can live well. He is my sky, my earth, my joy and sorrow, my entire life. If he were gone, what would be the point of keeping myself or our child? People are inherently selfish; all I want is a happy family of three, which seems simple but is actually incredibly difficult. Yet I always believe in the existence of Miracle. Heaven will surely give us a chance, a future where we will never be apart. You might think I'm foolish, but in front of him, I'm willing to be foolish for a lifetime until my soul scatters, leaving memories that will never fade. Because I truly love him deeply. I love Jun Chong, and I will never regret it until death." 0

Mu Yan closed her eyes and wiped away the tears streaming down her face with her sleeve. 0

I smiled, and when I opened my eyes again, the mist before me was hazy and unclear. Yet I found myself lying back on the bed in my bedroom, light gauze floating around me, carrying a faint fragrance. 0

I lay still staring at the ceiling, unwilling to move. Outside, the sky had turned dark, and in this familiar space, there was no trace of that person anywhere. 0

The message from Stunning lingered in my mind, but I knew that even though I wanted to go now more than ever, I could not. 0

Clenching my hands released all my emotions in a flood of tears. 0

Outside, the moonlight was enchanting and beautiful. The blue Red Spider Lily by the window danced in the wind, occasionally shedding drops of starlight from its petals. As the Wind Sound blew into the room by the bed, it felt like a pair of hands gently covered me with the blanket as if caressing a child. 0

I cried myself to sleep, feeling as though I had dreamt many dreams, each one related to Jun Chong. When I woke up, my eyes were not only bloodshot but my head felt heavy, and my nose was stuffy. My whole body felt weighed down, yet I had no strength to move. 0

I lay there with my eyes open, feeling a burning sensation on my face, convinced that I must be ill. I had been lying there for quite some time without anyone checking on me. Fortunately, I continued to lie still, as I didn’t feel hungry anyway. 0

“Hey, you’re looking quite weak.” 0

A sharp voice suddenly pierced the silence of the room. I remained still, sensing some commotion to my left. Someone was knocking on the door, and then the sound abruptly stopped. 0

“Miss, I’m Little Bugs. Are you awake? I brought you something to eat.” 0

“Come in!” 0

The door swung open immediately, and Little Bugs entered with a tray in hand, under the watchful gaze of Death. Then the door closed behind her. She hurried to my side, set down the tray, pulled back the curtain, and upon seeing me, nearly screamed. 0

She covered her mouth with her hand, forcing herself to calm down, and pointed at me in astonishment. “Miss, how did you end up like this overnight?” 0

“What’s wrong with me?” 0

Little Bugs handed me a mirror, and only then did I realize that my hair was disheveled, my eyes were bloodshot, my face pale as a ghost, and my lips devoid of color—no wonder Little Bugs was so startled. 0

“Miss, you look like this; Lord will be upset.” 0

It was better that she didn’t mention Jun Chong; just hearing his name reignited the turmoil in my heart that I had just managed to calm down. Struggling to suppress my racing heart while forcing a smile, I sat up in bed. Little Bugs came over to help me. 0

“Miss, you should eat something! While the King of Hell is away, I’ll take you to see Lord.” 0

See Jun Chong? 0

At that moment, I felt devoid of any emotion. Although I spoke with a full heart, the truth weighed heavily on me, and my heart ached uncontrollably. 0

"I'm fine, don't worry," I forced a smile. "I'm hungry. What smells so good? It's tempting my appetite!" 0

"It's the Lord who asked Little Bugs to cook. He said you were feeling down, and if you ate something, you'd probably devour it all, so he asked me to make some porridge. He also wanted me to apologize to you; he didn't know it was you at the time, so he was rather harsh. It's not hot anymore, here." 0

As Little Bugs spoke, she placed the bowl in my hands. Hearing her words made me tremble slightly, and some porridge spilled onto my hand. Little Bugs quickly grabbed a cloth to wipe it away. "How careless! Did you burn yourself?" 0

"He..." I opened my mouth several times, wanting to ask many questions but finding the words stuck in my throat. In the end, I could only say, "He got hurt, and now he's like this?" 0

"I heard from Sister Mu Yan today that he’s not seriously injured. Should I call him now? With Little Bugs here, you can connect directly." 0

As she spoke, Little Bugs closed her eyes. I saw the air around her ripple with energy and wanted to stop her but found myself missing that man terribly. My outstretched hand hesitated in midair. 0

Just as Little Bugs closed her eyes, I felt something rush onto my bed at an incredible speed. I heard Little Bugs scream as her body fell backward. The Grim Reaper outside heard the commotion and barged in. At that moment, Little Bugs had her eyes tightly shut; it was unclear whether she was alive or dead. 0

"Little Bugs." 0

I jumped out of bed barefoot and shook her vigorously. Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through my fingers, but I paid it no mind as a Grim Reaper pushed me aside. "Miss Anxin, please let us handle this; you should rest in bed." 0

I nodded and watched as they bent down to pick up Little Bugs and prepare to take her away. Just then, a flash of red appeared at the door, and in the next second, a knife was pressed against Little Bugs' neck as someone commanded the Grim Reapers, "Let her go." 0
