I was trembling all over, while Zhang Chao was completely drunk, devoid of any fear. He stumbled into the room and collapsed onto the sofa, falling asleep instantly. 0

Looking at the name on my phone, I felt a surge of fear, but in the end, I still clicked to open it. 0

As I read the contents, a shiver ran down my spine, and I felt cold all over. My terrified gaze shot toward the door. 0

I was certain that Mu Yan had arrived and was standing right outside, even if I couldn't see her. 0

I turned on all the lights in the living room and sat on the sofa, breathing heavily. My heart raced uncontrollably due to anxiety and fear; I could even hear my own heartbeat. 0

Suddenly, there was another knock at the door that made my heart leap into my throat. 0

I mustered up my courage and called out loudly, "Who is it?" 0

As expected, there was no response from outside; only a brief silence followed. 0

It seemed that a wind had picked up outside, causing the windows in the living room to rattle. I got up to close them, and a gust of cold air rushed in, making me shiver involuntarily. 0

But there was no time to think; I hurriedly shut the window tightly and returned to sit by the sofa, straining my ears to listen for any sounds outside. 0

The sudden wind had felt strange; it had come out of nowhere, and once I closed the window, it ceased. Even the knocking at the door had stopped. 0

About ten minutes passed in silence outside before I finally let out a sigh of relief. The tension that had been coiled inside me began to ease, and I slumped weakly onto the sofa. 0

After such overwhelming anxiety and fear, I felt utterly drained. 0

I closed my eyes, perhaps due to a momentary relaxation of my nerves or maybe because I had drunk quite a bit, and before long, I fell asleep. 0

However, that night was not very restful. I drifted in and out of dreams, and in my dreams, I saw Mu Yan. We were together, doing things I used to enjoy with her. 0

When I woke up in the morning, the moment I opened my eyes, sunlight streamed through the window, stinging my eyes a bit. I rubbed my eyes and recalled the dream from last night, unable to help but curse, "Damn it all, even in my dreams, I had to spend the whole night with her." 0

At that moment, Zhang Chao also slowly woke up. He asked me what I was mumbling about, and I replied that it was nothing. 0

I checked the time and thankfully hadn’t overslept; there was still time to get to work. So we hurriedly got up, washed up quickly, and rushed out. 0

After arriving at the office, I secretly told him about the strange events that happened after I dropped him off last night. He shrank back in fear and said, "Could it be that ghost really came looking for you last night?" 0

His words made me shiver as they connected with the dream from last night. A chill ran down my spine as every hair on my body stood on end. 0

Seeing my face turn pale, Zhang Chao's expression was also filled with fear. He whispered in my ear, "Haozi, I think that ghost might be haunting you. Should we find someone to help?" 0

"Find someone? Who?" I asked, looking up. 0

"Of course someone who knows how to exorcise ghosts," Zhang Chao replied in a low voice. 0

I asked, "Do you know anyone?" 0

Although I had never believed in demons before, this time I found it hard not to believe. 0

I was filled with hope, but who would have thought that Zhang Chao would shake his head and say no? It felt like my words were in vain. 0

However, there is an old saying: "Heaven does not close off all paths for a person." 0

That night, before I had even finished work, someone came looking for me. To be honest, I was quite surprised when I saw them because it was none other than the couple I had encountered when I exited the elevator at Mu Yan's place that day. 0

They seemed to have been waiting for a while, standing at the entrance of my company. As soon as I stepped out, they blocked my way. 0

I was a bit curious and said, "It's you two." 0

"Yes." 0

The man remained silent, while the woman nodded and seemed a bit flustered as she said, "Can we talk privately for a moment?" 0

As I looked them over, I felt something was off. The woman was acting strangely, and the man kept his head down, wearing a long-brimmed cap and wrapped in a scarf that nearly covered his entire face. 0

I couldn't help but wonder why he was dressed like that in the middle of summer. 0

Seeing my reluctance, the woman continued, "I have something urgent to tell you. If you wait too long, your life might be at stake." 0

Her words struck a chord deep within me. 0

At that moment, my expression changed entirely; my eyes widened in disbelief as I stared at her. 0

"Follow me," she said. 0

After saying that, she took her boyfriend's hand and walked straight ahead. I frowned slightly; if this had happened before, I would have dismissed her words as nonsense and laughed it off. 0

But now it was different. The events of the past few days had been extraordinarily strange, and I had even been haunted by a ghost, making me particularly sensitive to such remarks. 0

I furrowed my brow but still followed them. 0

They walked ahead, turning down a narrow alley, and finally stopped behind a residential building. 0

I quickly caught up, trying my best to appear calm as I asked, "What do you want from me? We don't seem to know each other." 0

She nodded but didn't answer my question. Instead, she lowered her voice and asked, "Have you experienced anything strange these past few days?" 0

"Strange things?" 0

Upon hearing this, I felt my heart race. 0

She continued, "To be clear, are you being haunted by a ghost?" 0

As soon as she said that, my face turned pale, and I stammered, "H-how do you know?" 0

Earlier, Zhang Chao had mentioned finding someone who understood how to exorcise ghosts. Could she be knowledgeable about that? 0

Thinking of this made my expression shift dramatically—fearful, anxious, yet incredibly excited. Just as I was about to ask her something, she cut me off with a single sentence. 0

She said, "We used to live across from that building." 0

"I'm Mu Yan, seventh floor, across from her," I was about to say "my girlfriend," but the words caught in my throat and I changed it at the last moment. 0

She nodded slightly, as if to acknowledge it. 0

But I shook my head instantly and said, "That's impossible. I clearly remember that across from her lived a middle-aged couple and a boy about seven or eight years old. It was a family of three; how could it be you?" 0

As soon as I finished speaking, I saw the woman's face turn extremely ugly, and the man seemed to tremble slightly. 0

I frowned slightly and suddenly thought of something, so I curiously asked, "By the way, what were you doing on the seventh floor that day? Were you related to them?" 0

I was referring to that family of three. Since the seventh floor was the top floor, if they weren't relatives of that family, then what were the two of them doing there? 0

"They're not human; they're ghosts. The entire seventh floor is filled with ghosts; it's all ghosts." 0

Suddenly, her boyfriend, who had been keeping his head down, raised it and couldn't help but shout loudly. His voice was intense, and he seemed very agitated. For some reason, in his eyes, I saw deep fear. 0

He yanked off the scarf wrapped around his face, causing me to gasp in shock and step back two paces. My hand trembled as I pointed at him and said, "Y-Your face..." 0

"It was an accident; he did this to himself," his girlfriend interjected at that moment. 0

"An accident? He did it to himself?" 0

I looked at them, clearly not believing what I saw. The Yin Wife was fierce. 0

From the left side, his face could hardly be called a face anymore. The left side of his skull had caved in deeply to the brow bone, resembling a deep pit. Half of his face was devoid of skin; although it was covered with gauze, it still looked blood-soaked and grotesque, utterly unrecognizable and horrifying. 0

In such a tragic state, it was hard to believe he had done this to himself. Even if someone else were involved, it would take a tremendous amount of courage to smash a living person's head like that. 0

Suddenly, I focused on them and considered a possibility. He had said the entire seventh floor was haunted; perhaps only ghosts could commit such brutal acts. 0

Seeing my expression, his girlfriend nodded deeply and then said with a pained look, "That night after we encountered you and went back, he seemed to go insane, desperately banging his head against the wall as if someone was holding him down. He couldn't stop at all." 0

"Then why didn't you tell me at the time?" I suddenly remembered and asked curiously. 0

"I wanted to say something," her boyfriend replied, his face filled with fear. "But I didn't dare because they were watching me right at the door." 0
