Seeing Long Yong's slightly dejected expression, Rao Jie immediately added, "I'm not doubting your feelings; I just can't understand them."
Long Yong smiled and extended his other hand to hold both of Rao Jie's hands. "Actually, the day you gave me Tiramisu, I fell for you. But at that time, you had a boyfriend, so I kept my distance. It was only after I heard about your breakup that I approached you. So it's not that we've known each other for a short time; rather, you've only known me for a short while. I've been secretly in love with you for almost three years now. Do you still think you're not excellent?"
Long Yong tilted his head and looked at Rao Jie with a smile, his expression one of helplessness as if he were looking at a child who didn't understand. Yet, the affection and adoration in his eyes were unmistakable.
Rao Jie was taken aback by this revelation. Initially, she had been confused about why her senior had inexplicably liked her; now it all made sense.
So that's how it is.
Rao Jie lowered her head slightly, as if deep in thought.
Long Yong felt nervous and said, "I know you might not have feelings for me yet, or maybe you're still getting over your last relationship. But that's okay. I just wanted to tell you that I like you and I'm ready to pursue you seriously. I hope you won't just see me as a kind senior anymore."
"I'll consider it!" Rao Jie suddenly mustered the courage to say.
Long Yong was taken aback.
Rao Jie looked up seriously at Long Yong. "I only feel disgust towards my past; I want to start a new relationship. But with you, I'm still unsure if there's any romantic feeling involved. I don't want to let you down or deceive you. I can't give you a definite answer right now; please give me some time, Senior. I'll think carefully about our situation."
A look of surprise spread across Long Yong's face. He had always been aware of Rao Jie's attitude toward him. Although he was excited tonight, his rational mind told him that the chances of success were low and that he might scare her off or be outright rejected.
Even though Rao Jie hadn't agreed, the fact that she was willing to consider their relationship was enough for him. The rest depended on how hard he would work for it. At least Rao Jie had clearly recognized the change in their relationship.
He was no longer just her senior.
Long Yong happily drove Rao Jie home, marking the first time he directly dropped her off at the Wu Family residence.
In the car, Long Yong learned about Rao Jie's reasons for living there. Although he wasn't entirely comfortable with Wu Rong, Rao Jie seemed unconcerned about it, so he chose not to bring it up and make her aware of any potential issues. The best way to deal with a potential enemy was to prevent them from having an opportunity to surface.
As a gentleman, Long Yong got out of the car and opened the door for Rao Jie. She stepped out holding her teddy bear.
The two chatted by the car for a while before parting ways.
When Rao Jie returned home, she found Wu Rong still working in his room on some research.
She went over to greet him.
Wu Rong seemed a bit displeased. "Finally back! You've been out all day; I'm starving."
Rao Jie was surprised and asked, "Did you not order takeout or go out to eat?"
"I'm not used to it," Rao Jie said, feeling both amused and exasperated. "If I had known it would be like this, I should have saved some food for you. You haven't been starving all day, have you?"
Wu Rong turned to Rao Jie with a hint of complaint in her voice. "I had some dessert to tide me over, but now I'm completely famished."
