Rao Jie found the situation even more amusing, though she hadn't yet noticed Wu Rong's somewhat spoiled tone. She simply agreed with Wu Xin that Wu Rong was indeed a person with life challenges; without someone to watch over or care for him, he would likely starve himself.
Despite not knowing how to cook, he had ridiculous standards, refusing to eat this and avoiding that. With no other choice, Rao Jie had to go prepare a late-night snack for Wu Rong.
To her surprise, Wu Rong didn't stay in his room to continue his research but followed her out instead. He sat at the dining table, staring intently at the busy Rao Jie.
In his mind, he was contemplating how to seize an opportunity to make Rao Jie completely his woman. That way, she would belong entirely to him and wouldn't abandon him for an entire day because of outsiders, leaving him restless and unable to focus on work.
As he pondered these thoughts, a smile crept onto Wu Rong's face as he began to envision some beautiful scenes he had long anticipated.
Just as he was lost in these pleasant thoughts, Rao Jie's phone on the dining table suddenly vibrated. The screen lit up, and Wu Rong leaned in without hesitation to take a look.
A message popped up.
Senior Long Yong: "Thank you for considering our relationship. I'll wait for you; there's no rush. Take your time."
Wu Rong's smile began to freeze.
Another message appeared.
Senior Long Yong: "By the way, I fed you too many sweets today. I just remembered I should have brought you some hawthorn. If you have some at home, eat it; if not and you're feeling uncomfortable, just take some digestive tablets."
The smile on Wu Rong's face had vanished completely, replaced by a stormy expression.
Wasn't she out with Wei Qian today? How did she end up with Long Yong?
Wu Rong grabbed the phone, wishing he could crush it in his hands. Just then, the phone vibrated again.
Senior Long Yong: "If you find it inconvenient living at the Wu Family's place, I happen to have a friend looking to rent out a room. It's affordable and safe. If you need it, let me know; I can help you find something better than what's outside."
Wu Rong: ...
When Rao Jie came out, she saw Wu Rong standing at the dining table with an expression that screamed "big bad wolf," radiating an aura of terror.
Confused, she stepped closer and realized that Wu Rong was holding her phone. Although there were no secrets worth hiding, no one liked having their phone snooped through. So Rao Jie rushed forward to retrieve it, but Wu Rong swiftly grabbed her hand and pulled her closer.
Thus, Rao Jie found herself trapped between Wu Rong and the dining table.
The oppressive aura that seemed to hang over them frightened Rao Jie immensely.
"Professor Wu... what are you doing? That's my phone... what are you doing?" Rao Jie looked at him innocently and confused, not understanding why Wu Rong was suddenly so angry.
Wu Rong gritted his teeth and asked, "Did you go out with Long Yong today?"
Rao Jie was taken aback, completely bewildered.
Wu Rong slowly narrowed his eyes, his words laced with sparks of anger. "Are you lying to me? You said you were out with Wei Qian!"
Although Rao Jie found Wu Rong's anger baffling, he still explained, "I was with Wei Qian, but due to some unexpected circumstances, I happened to run into a senior and just had dinner with him."
Wu Rong's tone turned harsh. "Dinner together, and you could conveniently confess your feelings too?"
Rao Jie’s expression changed slightly. "You..." He quickly realized that Long Yong must have sent some message that Wu Rong had seen.
