At this moment, Laya and Liendel had been living together for two months.
The population of Celestial Palace Star was quite static, and when they first arrived, they faced a lot of wariness and rejection. Fortunately, Laya's cheerful personality led her to actively engage with others, and soon the locals accepted the two of them.
However, their peaceful days were shattered by a madman.
This madman had escaped from a mental institution due to severe Mania and was wreaking havoc everywhere. Liendel didn't want Queen to get involved; although he could easily deal with the man using his strength, as a Zerg, why would he stand up for weak humans?
Just as this thought crossed his mind, a loud "bang bang bang" echoed from downstairs.
Laya shivered. "Liendel, it seems he has broken into our home."
Liendel raised an eyebrow, slightly surprised.
Hearing the sound of things being smashed downstairs, Liendel stood up expressionlessly, feeling an itch in his fists. He knew it was time to confront the Mania patient.
Laya bit her lip, feeling uneasy.
"Liendel, are you really okay with this?"
Sensing her anxiety, the silver-haired High-level Insectoid lowered his gaze slightly and gave Queen a reassuring look. "An enemy of this level can be torn to pieces in a minute."
He intended for Laya to stay safely on the second floor, but to his surprise, she followed closely behind him.
"Queen, please stay in a safer place and don't follow me."
Laya puffed up her cheeks, displaying a hint of childishness. "I don't want Liendel to face danger alone."
Of course, she didn't intend to be a burden; she was merely reminded of the time she had to comfort Mania.
"If he is also a Mania patient, can I use Psychic Power to heal him?"
"No, you can calm me down because you are the Queen of the Zerg, and there is a natural bond between our Psychic Powers. But he is human; this method won't work and might even hurt you."
Laya was still a bit confused, trying to digest the information when she suddenly heard heavy footsteps approaching.
It turned out that the madman had come upstairs after hearing the commotion. Upon seeing the man with bloodshot eyes before him, Liendel shook his head. This guy was beyond saving; rather than being human, he resembled a frenzied beast. It would be better to kill him soon and set him free.
However, just as he prepared to leap forward, the man's blood-red pupils shifted their focus to Laya.
In the next moment, he swiftly threw out a green rope from his hand, ensnaring Laya's waist and pulling her closer.
In the blink of an eye, the seemingly frail Queen had fallen into the madman's grasp.
Liendel's expression changed instantly; damn it, the madman had been too careless.
Yet Laya surprisingly remained calm; this man didn't seem to harbor any intent to kill. Instead, he appeared to be struggling desperately.
The man emitted sounds of pain, his hand gripping the rope trembling slightly.
Laya was momentarily stunned; the man had not completely lost his sanity and was still battling against his own raging Psychic Power.
Just as Liendel was about to step forward to deliver a fatal blow to the man, Laya hurriedly shouted, "Wait! I want to help this man, to free him from his struggle with Mania."
"What are you planning to do? Don't be reckless; this guy is beyond saving."
However, Laya had already closed her eyes, channeling her Psychic Power to invade the man's Brain Region.
Soon, she saw countless black threads once again.
She bit her lip and cautiously extended her Psychic Power.
The black lines illuminated by the light emitted sharp shrieks, and some of them even began to gradually dissolve. Once she confirmed that no trace of the black threads remained, she retreated with the dissipating strands.
In an instant, the man felt an unprecedented emptiness in his Brain Region, leaving him feeling remarkably refreshed. Yet Laya's complexion turned pale; the immense drain on her energy caused a sharp pain in her mental source.
Then everything went dark, and the girl’s body slumped down. Sun Yan instinctively reached out to catch her, but before he could react, a gust of wind swept past him. A silver-haired man cradled the girl in his arms, glaring at him with an unfriendly expression. The murderous intent in his eyes made Sun Yan's hair stand on end.
However, in the next moment, Liendel withdrew his gaze and carried Laya back into the room.
After hesitating for a moment, Sun Yan followed them inside, a vague thought forming in his mind as he hoped to discuss things with the two of them.
