Shuyao couldn't help but shed tears as she replied with an embrace emoji. It had been a long time since anyone had cared for her like this, not even her own mother. She opened her phone and saw the last message from Tang Zhaoran: "Yao Yao, did you get it?" In that moment, a wave of warmth and bittersweetness surged in her heart.
After parking the car in the villa's lot, Shuyao noticed a figure standing by the window on the second floor. Ji Linchuan! Dressed in a gray suit jacket and a striped English shirt, he exuded an air of elegance and aloofness. The way he smoked only amplified his masculine charm. His perfect profile fell right into Shuyao's line of sight.
Shuyao tilted her head back, her breath slightly uneven. The dappled light under the trees cast shadows on his face, accentuating his striking features and making him even more captivating. With his status adding to his allure, it was easy for any woman to be drawn to him. She hazily recalled how it was this lofty face that had enchanted her for so many years.
Regaining her composure, she stepped inside.
"Where have you been?" Ji Linchuan lay on the bed, his long legs crossed and hands clasped over his abdomen. His expression was cold, not even bothering to lift his head.
Lin Secretary wisely stepped back.
"Just out with friends."
"Friends?" He looked at her sharply. "Did you meet a man?"
"What man?" she retorted irritably. "Didn't you also go meet your Miss Wen?"
Not only did he meet her, but they had also been affectionate in public, hugging and cuddling.
"Also? What man did you meet?" He was quick to seize on the key point.
As she set down her bag, he firmly grasped her wrist. Shuyao tried to break free but found herself restrained by his other hand.

His expression turned icy, as if he were ready to devour her whole. Her wrist throbbed painfully in his grip, and tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.

She merely pressed her lips together, softly sobbing.
Silence was her silent rebellion.
His patience was limited, yet he felt helpless.
After a long while, he finally spoke, his tone softening slightly: "Did you get the bank card? Since you are to be my wife, you should stay at home obediently."
His rare concession should have left Shuyao flabbergasted.
Instead, it ignited her resistance.
"I am not your tool or pet!"
A surge of anger welled up inside Ji Linchuan: "What do you want?"
Shuyao murmured, "I want a divorce, a divorce!"
Ji Linchuan was taken aback by her resolute attitude.
"You're insane!" He was about to explode when the phone rang.
" manager Ji, it's the old man's call."
Hearing the mention of the old man, he released Shuyao and stood up to answer the phone.
"Hello, Grandpa."
On the other end, Elder Ji launched into a tirade: "Chuan'er, what have you done to Yurou? She's very upset today. No matter what you're doing, I want you to come and accompany her immediately. You have until today to make her happy!"
Even though it was just a phone call, Shuyao couldn't help but react when she heard " Yurou is crying."
"Yes, Grandpa." Ji Linchuan suppressed an unnameable roar but couldn't let it out.
Without saying another word, he walked out the door.
As Lin Secretary opened the car door for him, he said:
" manager Ji, Miss Shuyao currently doesn't understand that the contract termination is for her own good."
Ji Linchuan's face darkened, and his tone was harsh. "Shut up!"
He didn't have the time to waste on Shuyao over trivial matters like this.
But today, she actually brought up divorce; she really had some nerve!
He had to teach her a lesson!
