A-Ying nervously presented the key to the storeroom to the Queen, holding it high above her head as if bearing an immense weight. 0

The Queen took the key, and the cold touch sent a slight shiver through her fingertips. She lowered her gaze, examining the intricately carved key, a barely perceptible cold smile appearing at the corners of her mouth. Sunlight streamed through the ornate window lattice, casting a glow on her luxurious phoenix robe and illuminating the cold light flickering in her eyes. 0

"Open all the boxes," the Queen commanded in a detached tone, yet her authority was undeniable. 0

"Yes, Your Majesty." A-Ying quickly rose and walked toward the dozen or so redwood boxes placed in the center of the hall. These boxes were filled with rare treasures collected by the palace, usually guarded by heavy security, but today they had all been moved to Phoenix Palace at the Queen's word. 0

With trembling hands, A-Ying began to open the boxes one by one. As each lid was lifted, dazzling light instantly filled the grand hall. Pearls, agates, emeralds, and gems sparkled brilliantly, overwhelming A-Ying's senses. 0

"Put them all on," the Queen said casually as she settled onto the Phoenix Throne, her posture relaxed but her tone laced with excitement. 0

A-Ying paused for a moment and cautiously asked, "Your Majesty, all of them...?" 0

"What? Do you have an objection?" The Queen shot her a sidelong glance, a hint of frost in her gaze. 0

Terrified, A-Ying quickly knelt down and bowed repeatedly. "I dare not! I will put them on for you right away." 0

Hastily, A-Ying picked up each treasure and carefully adorned the Queen. The Golden Hairpin with Dangling Ornaments and Jade Pendant were among the priceless items that transformed the Queen into a vision of opulence and grandeur. 0

The Queen gazed into the bronze mirror, her eyes sparkling as she occasionally caressed the gemstone necklace around her neck or adjusted the pearl tassels hanging from her hair. It was as if she were admiring a rare masterpiece or flaunting her supreme power. 0

The hall shimmered with golden light, reflecting the Queen's stunning beauty while accentuating her current aura of dominance and authority. 0

"Go summon His Majesty," she said while adjusting her garments in front of the mirror. Her tone was casual yet carried an unmistakable command. 0

"Yes, Your Majesty." A-Ying lowered her head and slowly retreated. Taking a deep breath to steady herself, she hurried toward the study. 0

As she walked, A-Ying felt a sense of unease gnawing at her heart. She had no idea what the Queen intended to do or how the Emperor would react. All she knew was that she had to fulfill the Queen's orders; otherwise, the consequences would be unimaginable. 0

In the study, the Emperor was reviewing memorials with a furrowed brow and a serious expression. Debao stood nearby, carefully attending to him. 0

"Your Majesty," A-Ying said timidly, "the Empress requests your presence at Phoenix Palace." 0

The Emperor did not lift his head, his tone indifferent. "I will not go." 0

A-Ying bit her lip, summoning her courage to say, "The Empress said that if you do not come, she will bestow all the treasures in the storeroom to the palace maids and eunuchs." 0

The Emperor suddenly raised his head, a flicker of anger flashing in his eyes. "She dares!" 0

A-Ying trembled in fear and quickly knelt down. "I would not dare deceive Your Majesty; these are the Empress's exact words." 0

The Emperor set down the memorial he had been reading and stood up, pacing back and forth. His heart was ablaze with anger, yet he felt helpless. He knew that ever since the Empress had awakened after her fall into the water, her temperament had changed drastically; she had become domineering and unreasonable. Yet he found himself utterly powerless against her. 0

"Prepare the carriage, to Phoenix Palace!" The Emperor took a deep breath and spoke in a low voice. 0

Debao quickly bowed in response. "Yes, Your Majesty." 0

A-Ying led the Emperor to the entrance of Phoenix Palace, took a deep breath, and gently pushed open the heavy palace doors. 0

The room was filled with golden light that momentarily blinded the Emperor. The incense burner made of gold emitted wisps of Ambergris, failing to mask the air thick with opulence. 0

On the Phoenix Throne sat the Empress, dressed in a Bright Yellow Phoenix Robe, adorned with jewels that sparkled brilliantly. She exuded an air of arrogance, as if she were a celestial being descended from the heavens. Various pieces of jewelry cluttered the tables around her, shimmering so brightly they nearly illuminated the entire Phoenix Palace. The Emperor stood at the doorway for a moment in shock before furrowing his brow and asking in a deep voice, "Empress, what is the meaning of this?" 0

The Empress smiled disdainfully, extending her delicate hand to lightly pat the seat beside her, signaling for the Emperor to sit down. The crimson of her nail polish glistened against the surrounding gold, enhancing her allure. 0

A-Ying lowered her head and stepped aside as the Emperor walked into Phoenix Palace. A strong scent of Ambergris mixed with powdery perfume hit him, causing him to wrinkle his brow in discomfort. 0

He surveyed his surroundings; the hall was resplendent with gold and jewels piled high on tables that nearly dazzled his eyes. 0

The Empress lounged on the Phoenix Throne, draped in her Bright Yellow Phoenix Robe, exuding an air of lazy arrogance. The Emperor sat down beside her, suppressing his anger as he coldly asked, "Empress, what is your intention?" 0

The Empress picked up a large Luminous Pearl and toyed with it between her fingers, casually saying, "What does Your Majesty think of my attire today?" She raised her gaze to meet his, a hint of provocation glimmering in her eyes. 0

The Emperor took a deep breath, striving to control his emotions, and spoke in a low voice, "Such extravagance is utterly inappropriate! Empress, have you forgotten the rules of the palace?" 0

The Empress chuckled lightly, her tone playful. "Rules? Is Your Majesty speaking to me?" She tossed the Luminous Pearl in her hand lightly into the air and caught it deftly, a glint of mischief flashing in her eyes. "If Your Majesty is concerned about these jewels, there is no need to visit me. If I am in a bad mood, I could simply bestow all the treasures from the storeroom, and that would not be out of the question." 0

The Emperor's anger turned to a bitter smile as he suddenly stood up, glaring at the Empress. He enunciated each word carefully, "Empress, what exactly do you want?" 0

The Empress slowly rose and walked up to the Emperor. She extended her delicate hand and gently caressed his cheek, her voice soft yet laced with a hint of threat. "Your Majesty, what I want is quite simple." She leaned closer to him and whispered in his ear, "I want you to stay in the Phoenix Palace tonight." 0

The Emperor's expression changed dramatically upon hearing this. He pushed the Empress away forcefully, shock and fury evident in his eyes. He stepped back a few paces, pointing at her with a trembling voice. "You... you are utterly outrageous!" 0

Watching the Emperor's reaction, the Empress couldn't help but smile smugly. She walked slowly to the window and gazed at the blooming peonies in the imperial garden, speaking indifferently. "Your Majesty, I am tired and wish to rest now. Please return." 0

The Emperor looked at her retreating figure, feeling a mix of emotions swirling within him. He took a deep breath and turned away, sweeping out of the room, leaving behind a room filled with golden light and the Empress's triumphant laughter. 0

Debao hurriedly followed behind the Emperor, matching his pace as they exited the Phoenix Palace. He carefully observed the Emperor's expression, not daring to breathe too loudly. 0

"To the Imperial Study!" The Emperor's tone was icy, revealing suppressed anger. 0

"Yes, Your Majesty," Debao replied quickly with a bow. 0

As they made their way, Debao felt increasingly anxious. He had no idea what the Empress was planning or how the Emperor would react. All he knew was that he had to tread carefully; otherwise, the consequences could be dire. 0
