Half an hour passed, and we could hear the sound of sirens coming from outside the Heavenly Palace Bathhouse. I felt a surge of joy; this meant that Yuzelin had arrived with the Police Department. The sound of the police sirens startled everyone else in the room, and they all looked at me and Dezi, seemingly questioning our identities for the first time.
Boss Huang's expression was also one of shock, not knowing what was happening. However, it seemed he still didn't believe our identities, or perhaps even if he did, there was nothing more to say at this point. I said to Boss Huang, "You should believe our identities now. It's better to talk about Angel's situation first. Otherwise, when we get to the Police Department, you'll have to say it anyway. You should know the difference between the two."
Boss Huang remained silent and just shook his head at one of his men, signaling him to check by the window. At that moment, the sound of sirens grew louder, indicating they were already at the door. One muscular man leaned against the window and looked out; we could see his brow furrowing deeper and deeper.
The muscular man said, "Boss Huang, it's bad! The police cars are really parked right in front of our Heavenly Palace Bathhouse. They've gotten out and are coming in! What should we do?"
Boss Huang glanced at his subordinate and scolded, "What are you so nervous about? Check if those people are from Si Er's group."
"Boss Huang!" the muscular man replied. "I can recognize Si Er's group! The ones getting out of the police cars are none other than those who just ran off with those two women!"
Upon hearing this, Boss Huang was taken aback as well. I could feel him tremble all over, and then I heard him say, "You... you really are police officers!"
I nodded seriously.
Boss Huang immediately slumped onto the sofa like a wilted eggplant. He must have realized that we had seen too much here, and he also acknowledged his involvement in prostitution. From this perspective, Boss Huang's bathhouse—and even his other businesses—were in danger. For a businessman, this was naturally unacceptable.
At that moment, I heard Boss Huang curse, "That little brat Guo Guoqing! He really tricked me!"
I shrugged; Guo Guoqing had indeed used Boss Huang to deal with us, and he had almost succeeded. Guo Guoqing didn't care about what happened to Boss Huang; he wouldn't blink an eye at killing someone, let alone deceiving them. But Boss Huang's bathhouse definitely needed to be shut down.
Just then, voices came from outside. I heard Yuzelin's voice ring out: "Step aside! Where's your boss? Let him come out!"
I smiled lightly and then released Boss Huang. Standing up, I walked toward the exit while saying to Boss Huang, "We will discuss this in detail later. Have you considered why Guo Guoqing specifically wanted to take Angel? Tianlan City is not small; there should be many people like Angel."
At that moment, Boss Huang stared at me and Dezi without speaking. We walked outside without anyone daring to stop us anymore. When they were unsure of our identities, they might have felt emboldened; but now, even if they had some guts, they wouldn't dare act recklessly. Dezi and I pushed open the door and stepped outside just as we saw Yuzelin rushing up to the fourth floor, followed by a group of staff trying to dissuade her.
Seeing us, Yuzelin sighed in relief and said to us both, "Are you two okay?"
I shook my head and replied to Yuzelin, "We're fine. Now take this Boss Huang back for interrogation and have the relevant authorities seal off this place. I assume you don't need me to provide evidence; you already know everything."
Yuzelin nodded and then, accompanied by a few others, took Huang Boss away. As for the rest of the people, they didn’t have the energy to interrogate them just yet. Huang Boss was led out by the Police Department personnel, looking completely dispirited. I could see that her hatred for Guo Guoqing surpassed her resentment towards us.
We returned to the Police Department, where Yuzelin arranged for a thorough interrogation of Huang Boss. Dezi and I went to check on Juan Juan and Mary, who were both sound asleep in their respective rooms, completely unaware of what had just transpired. I couldn’t help but touch Juan Juan ’s face as she slept peacefully.
Fortunately, neither Juan Juan nor Mary had suffered any harm; otherwise, I would have blamed myself for a lifetime.
Stepping out of the room, I found that Yuzelin had already set up the interrogation. She and I were responsible for questioning Huang Boss, while Dezi was still in Mary’s room. At that moment, Huang Boss sat across from us, watching us with a myriad of expressions on her face—uncertain and fluctuating—as if lost in thought.
I addressed Huang Boss, saying, “Given how things have developed, you must have realized what kind of person Guo Guoqing is. From the very beginning, he must have deceived you. He knew our identities but never disclosed them to you; instead, he used you. You should be able to understand that much, right?”
At that moment, Huang Boss replied calmly, “If you’re here incognito at my Bathhouse to inquire about Angel, it must mean a serious incident has occurred. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be concerned. Just ask your questions; I will tell you everything I know. I only hope you’ll consider this a confession.”
I nodded and said to her, “Alright, we’ve asked about Angel many times before. This is the last time: what agreement did you reach with Guo Guoqing? What kind of person is Angel really? What does Guo Guoqing intend to do with her?”
I threw out a series of questions. Given the current situation, these were the most critical pieces of information we needed to know; any further delay could put the missing Boss Lady in danger. So far in this case, only one person had died—Roland.
The second case was confirmed to be unrelated and merely an imitation crime. So why would Guo Guoqing—a killer who harbored extreme hatred for women—stop at just one victim? Was Angel somehow involved in his plans? What exactly was he trying to achieve?
Huang Boss slowly began to speak, recounting her story involving Angel and Guo Guoqing.
Three months ago, Guo Guoqing started visiting Heavenly Palace Bathhouse frequently. As Dragon Brother mentioned, he gradually got to know Angel and then directly offered her three hundred thousand as a form of support for one month. After that month, he intended to take Angel away, but Huang Boss certainly disagreed.
Although there was no formal agreement between Angel and Huang Boss, she understood that many customers came specifically for Angel. If Angel left, it would severely impact the business at Heavenly Palace Bathhouse. This led to conflicts between Huang Boss, Angel, and Guo Guoqing.
At this point in the story was when Dragon Brother shared his thoughts with us. However, he raised a question: if Angel wasn’t foolish and knew that Guo Guoqing wasn’t sincere, why would she agree to leave? The most significant factor might simply be money.
This was merely Dragon Brother’s speculation; however, from Huang Boss we received concrete answers regarding the latter part of the story that Dragon Brother didn’t know.
Huang Boss indeed confronted Guo Guoqing and made it clear that she wasn’t someone easy to deal with in both legal and illegal matters. While Guo Guoqing could come to the Bathhouse, taking Angel away was out of the question. Nevertheless, he offered Huang Boss sufficient benefits along with a promise: after this year ended, he would definitely return Angel and even paid her one million.
One million—Huang Boss was tempted by this offer. Moreover, Guo Guoqing assured her that once the new year arrived, he would let Angel go back. Naturally, Huang Boss agreed readily; soon after that, Guo Guoqing transferred the money. Following this arrangement, Angel left with him without Huang Boss knowing what exactly he intended for her.
Later on, Huang Boss called Angel to inquire about her situation. Angel mentioned that her life was going well; Guo Guoqing had bought her a house and hadn’t restricted her from doing anything. Angel spent her days eating and drinking at home, chatting with her neighbors. Since Angel's neighbor was also a woman, she didn’t feel lonely.
After several contacts, Angel always repeated the same story. However, Huang Boss felt that Angel wasn’t lying, as there was no reason for her to do so.
“Do you know where the house bought for Angel is? What’s Angel’s phone number?” I continued to ask.
At that moment, Huang Boss replied, “I’ve had less contact with Angel since then because I made an agreement with Guo Guoqing not to ask about Angel during this period. So I consider this a breach of contract, and I was sneaking around when I made the call. That’s why I don’t know where Angel lives now.”
“But I can tell you her phone number…”
We got the phone number and tried calling it, only to find out that the number was no longer in service. Given Huang Boss’s current demeanor, she likely wasn’t lying. There was no point in her lying now, especially since without Guo Guoqing, we wouldn’t have gone to her Bathhouse. If we hadn’t gone, she could continue living her “good life.”
However, everything had been disrupted because of Guo Guoqing. From this perspective, Huang Boss probably wouldn’t continue to protect Guo Guoqing, so she shouldn’t be lying. This meant that the number was indeed real; Angel had simply changed her phone number.
But this raised a question: Was this action by Angel truly her own decision or something arranged by Guo Guoqing in the interrogation room? It seemed we needed to interrogate Guo Guoqing further!
