Upon seeing the information they posted, some people concluded that Athena was indeed missing based on the current situation; however, many others believed that Athena might simply be too busy to update her social media.
In no time, rumors about Athena escalated, with some even suggesting that she might have been kidnapped and taken to Myanmar for exploitation.
Others claimed that Athena's photos had already begun circulating on the dark web for sale, and she might have become a plaything among the wealthy in Southeast Asia.
What seemed most credible was a comment from a mysterious user who stated that Athena had been deceived by her close friend into going to Southeast Asia.
On February 18, it was said that Athena was betrayed by her friend with whom she had shared dinner.
This friend was named Li Yifei. She had previously studied in the UK and then began crafting her persona as a socialite to connect with local beautiful girls.
After dining with Athena that day, she mentioned having just broken up and expressed her desire to travel to Manila in the Philippines, asking if Athena would join her.
At first, Athena had no such intentions, but after persistent persuasion from Li Yifei and encouragement from a woman claiming to be Li Yifei's mother, Athena eventually agreed.
Thus, Athena was lured to Manila under false pretenses.

One netizen mentioned that after Athena arrived in Manila, she seemed to have vanished without a trace. Subsequently, her friend Li Yifei even disabled all of Athena's social media location settings and deleted all the photos they had taken together.
It was from this point onward that Athena fell completely silent, raising suspicions among many.
Another netizen claimed that Athena had caught the eye of a wealthy businessman, and that Li Yifei was merely a "proxy" for this boss, responsible for luring Athena to the Philippines. Once the businessman lost interest, he would sell Athena to "Asia No. 1."
Initially, people were skeptical of these rumors until two photos surfaced showing Athena battered and bruised, which led many to start believing the claims.
Not long after, a mysterious netizen named "Asia No. 1 Booking" claimed that Athena had already been laid to rest. Another user stated that he had witnessed Athena being dragged by her hair from a vehicle to the back door of "Asia No. 1," with her asking price reportedly reaching as high as ten thousand dollars per hour.
"Asia No. 1" is not located in the Philippines but rather in a well-known nightclub in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This area is notorious for being lawless, rife with crime such as human trafficking and drug dealing.
Later, the powerful Chaozhou-Shantou Chamber of Commerce in Southeast Asia reported that they had contacted Athena's parents and discussed specific rescue methods in detail. However, her parents had already given up on her, leaving her fate a mystery—whether she is alive or dead remains unknown.
