Wu Rong swallowed hard, suddenly feeling a bit nervous. He wanted to say something, but Rao Jie had already dashed out.
With the heavy sound of the door slamming shut, Wu Rong panicked, feeling as lost as a child who couldn't find their parents or home.
Rao Jie couldn't really be leaving, could she? Had he done something wrong? What could he do to keep her around? Did Rao Jie truly dislike him so much that she wouldn't even give him a chance?
This was Wu Rong's first attempt at confessing his feelings, and it had ended in utter failure. He sat dejectedly on the bed, pondering his mistakes. Yet, he couldn't quite understand it; he felt his reasoning was sound, like a math problem where the formula was correct but the answer was wrong.
Though extremely reluctant, Wu Rong still called Ye Ming for help.
...
After rushing back into her room, Rao Jie realized her heart was racing uncontrollably. A whirlwind of emotions surged within her, and she couldn't pinpoint which one was dominating.
Wu Rong was driving her crazy. The impulsive reaction she had just displayed in response to his behavior left her bewildered. Was that really something she would do?
Rao Jie didn't want to dwell on it any longer and hurried to pack her things. But as she sorted through her belongings, she couldn't help but clench her fists and pound on her clothes a couple of times.
"Wu Rong, you big idiot! Why did you have to mess up our relationship like this? You were someone I respected and appreciated; why couldn't you just stay divine? Why come down to earth?"
The turmoil inside Rao Jie was something others could never imagine. Looking back now, she realized that many of their interactions had been tinged with different colors. Sometimes she would notice the awkwardness, while other times she simply accepted it as normal.
And those kisses... Rao Jie couldn't help but touch her lips. The person who seemed so pure and ascetic could kiss like that; it completely shattered her perception of Wu Rong.
Her hands paused for a moment before she quickly resumed packing. It was better to leave; their current relationship was too chaotic for her to handle. She didn't want to deal with it; she was just a coward who wanted to escape when faced with things she didn't want to change, letting time slowly resolve everything.
Rao Jie had just rejected Long Yong's proposal, so she naturally wouldn't seek his help again. The only person she could turn to was Wei Qian. She decided to disturb Wei Qian for a bit before figuring out her next steps. After all, thanks to her father's occasional financial support, her savings were still enough to sustain her living expenses.
Just as she was about to contact Wei Qian, she received a call from the class monitor, who urgently needed her to come to school. Rao Jie hadn't finished packing her things yet, but the monitor was insistent, leaving her no choice but to step out temporarily and handle it later.
However, not long after Rao Jie left, Wu Rong had just finished discussing matters with Ye Ming and was about to go find Rao Jie when he realized she was already gone. He rushed to Rao Jie's room and saw her belongings scattered about, half-packed. He let out a sigh of relief but felt a wave of anxiety wash over him. Although Rao Jie hadn't left yet, it was clear she had made up her mind to do so.
He needed to apologize to her quickly and clarify his feelings; he had truly developed feelings for her. After talking with Ye Ming, he realized he had made things quite serious.
Wu Rong was anxious and unsure of where Rao Jie had gone—was she looking for Long Yong again? He hurriedly dialed Rao Jie’s number.
Already in the car, Rao Jie saw the incoming call but didn't want to answer; she even considered hanging up. Yet, the image of Wu Rong's anxious and agitated expression suddenly flashed in her mind, causing her hand to hesitate.
